  1. I have all poly on my Z and to be honest with you, I'm thinking of changing them to new rubber bushings. I'd say, if you are going to use it for a street car, go with new rubber bushings. But if you want the tightness and feel of almost no movement in the bushings, then go with poly. I like to feel everything on the road so I can tell what the surface is like and what the car is doing, but after a while the jarring ride got pretty old. I have relatively soft springs (175/200) and the 5-ways are set to 2(front) and 3(rear), so I know it's not the springs or shocks that are the culprit. !M!
  2. datsunlover, That's a myth, but sounds cool though. It was even part of a show on Discovery Channel called Myth Busters. They even concluded that it didn't happen, by means of strapping a JATO rocket (solid fuel rocket) to the top of thier Impalla as well. !M!
  3. Nowhere to host it. I have web space that I got with my DSL line, but haven't figured out how to make a web page yet. As soon as I do, I'll put it on there for you. !M!
  4. Parts to upgrade the Nissan 300ZX TT are very expensive compared to a LS1. !M!
  5. Yup been done before, I even have a video of a little European coupe being shot off the deck. It didn't fly off the deck the way you think it should have. !M!
  6. Testament to the rotory, kind of big though 27,038KB Rotory Hell And I figured I would add one of the best chopped movies I have seen this year. Very funny! New way to load your motorcycle !M!
  7. Awsome picture and caption! !M!
  8. Wow, nice find! Those will look very nice on your Z. !M!
  9. What part of Milwaukee did you come from? I originally bought my Z to do a SBC conversion also, but my buddy sold me a Buick GN drivetrain for $1K, couldn't pass that up! I feel the winter time is the best to do stuff to your Z, because you are not in a hurry to get it back together to drive it. This way you take more time cleaning, painting, ect.. As for salvage yards... not very many have Z cars. I know of two yards around here that have a 280Z and the other has a 260Z. They are pretty rare to find anywhere in Wisconsin, in the salvage yards or driving on the road. I'm planning on going to get the stub axles from the 280Z next Saturday. While I'm there, I can look at the dome light, hood release cable and the hatch brackets for you. If they are decent, I'll pick them up. If all goes well, I'll drop you an E-mail and let you know. What's your spending cap on those three items? Oh yeah, on my '73 there is only one gas shock to hold up the rear hatch !M!
  10. Damn,I love the color of money, looks good! Did you cut the rear for the ZG fender flares when you were back at your 'rents house? So, is the rear suspension fixed now (taller)? Looking good Mike. !M!
  11. I give that guy A LOT of credit! One heck of a story. !M!
  12. That was pretty sweet, worth the download time Thanks! !M!
  13. I was wondering what the heck happened to you. I thought since a handfull of people started doing the Z32 swap, you bugged out'a here. Great to see you back. Mad props to you and your Z for being one of the few to do this swap first. I love the idea of a Z32 with a V-8. 8) !M!
  14. thomasat, Glad to see another Wisconsin HybridZ'er! Hey, you're only about an hour north of me. I have a '73 also. If you need a hand with anything, let me know. Welcome aboard, you'll love this place !M! (Mat)
  15. One word Tim, Bad@ss. : I have a mascot in each one of my vehicles. I have a small stuffed animal called 'Baby 8 Ball' in my Z that resides just below my cigarette lighter, dangling from a elastic string. My S-10 has a monkey dangling from the 'oh Sh!t bar' that a buddy gave me the last time I was in the hospital when I almost killed myself. They stay there no matter what. Nothing better than the power of association. Reminds me not to do anything stupid. !M!
  16. Lets put these all together. Do you see a trend? H3 Dodge M80 Dodge Power Wagon concept Also, the new replacement for the S-10, the Colorado (and it's GMC equivalent) isn't getting the I-5 turbo anymore The H2 and the upcoming H3 are just fullsize trucks with boxes attatched to the frame and people are buying these like crazy, why? !M!
  17. Ed, Please keep us updated on this. Very interesting! !M!
  18. I'll just throw this into the thread: http://www.aranessinc.com/TurboVette978-2.wmv http://www.aranessinc.com/ci-ivturbovette.wmv Yup, the 'Vette picked the front wheels off the ground. Still has the IRS. Car has went 9.73 @ 142 mph on a 6 cylinder . Really cool sight to see this street car run down the track. The Rogue 'Vette can be seen here http://members.rogers.com/roguevette/ Comparing the Datsun IRS to the Corvette IRS is a bad one I know, but a IRS setup isn't all that bad. P.S. This should really be in the Drivetrain forum. !M!
  19. Cool! Not to bad for your first video. I can't wait for the second one, but I think it's going to be a few months ...damn salt on the roads !M!
  20. Ohh, it's one of those "Beanie Turbo's". Man, that's plush 8) . !M!
  21. Now that's funny! I had something similar happen, but I wasn't driving and also wasn't the one in the drivers seat. I needed someone to help me bleed the brakes on my old Dodge Ramn 50 (what a beater, but ran awsome), so I asked a buddy of mine to come over and help out. He popped over driving a '96 Vette (manual transmision [remember this]). I asked him to jump into the drivers seat and pump the brakes when I told him to. I got setup to bleed the pass. rear and told him to start pumping... told him to hold it, opened the bleeder, but nothing came out Instead of trying to figure it out, I told him to do it again. This time I heard a slight 'twang', a noise that I sometimes hear from the spring when pushing in the clutch pedal. I went to the drivers door and asked my buddy to pump the brakes for me... I think you can figure out what he was doing . I couldn't stop laughing. !M!
  22. Just because the master cylinder is full doesn't mean that it's working properly. From the sounds of it, it's probably your master cylinder, since it was still full. I would replace it or rebuild it. You don't want to chance your braking system. !M!
  23. Nice! I can't wait for some daytime pictures! !M!
