  1. Well I'm getting closer to actually getting my RB26DETT, But now I faced with a few problems: 1) Do I get a Half Cut or just the Engine & ECU? The half cut will run about $1500 more than just the engine, but it is complete. (Intercooler, MAF, A/C components, Rad, ect......) I can't to go full blown just yet, and plan on keeping the engine mostly stock until I get the Chassis and Body complete. What can I use off the Half Cut, and is it worth it? I'm trying to maximize my budget, and I don't want to spend money that I don't need to yet. 2) I see way more R32's, then 33 or 34, available. I know that each proggresion got better, but do I realy need to get an R33 or better? Any input from you guys would be appriciated. Thanks, Ed

My bad! A mild RB26DETT (350Hp) will run around $8-10K with ECU & GTS Tranny. A good S30 Shell around $3-5K, add around $4K in upgrades to the chassis & suspension. Add the labor, and you've got yourself a car.
  3. Here is a shot of my Z with the Rewinds & Tokico springs. I had to use my phone since I couldn't find my Camera. (Kids must have gotten to it)
  4. I didn't know the Mega Squirt was so versitale. The big draw for me is that the AEM unit is PNP for a RB26DETT.
  5. I'm still researching my new ECM, but I'm leaning towards the unit from AEM. This has to be the most adjustable system on the market, Period. The price for the system I would need is not cheap, but it does everything, Boost control;Fuel Mng; Nitrious; Ign timing; ect.......... I've down loaded the manual, and holy S%!T, indepth would be an understatement.

I don't have one to sell, but I'm sure that there is someone on the forum who builds these, as a business. With enough money I'm sure he'll do it for you. $20-25K (US) sounds about right if you supply the car. Figure that $8-10K will be just for labor. I think that there is some one selling his almost working 510 w/RB26DETT for around $30K.
  7. No one makes a drive shaft specific to a RB Z swap. It will have to be a custom piece. You will need to bring your saft to a fabricator along with the appropraite flanges/yolks, and measurements. VLSD's can be a pain, you can use a 86-89 Cluch LSD. It's a long nose diff, so the install will be easier. And yes any time you change the distance between the tranny and the diff a new shaft will need to be made.
  8. If your going to race it as a Ford Focus, don't you need a Ford engine?
  9. Am I missing something here. I tried to post a few pics into the gallery. I looked easy enough. But after I press the submit button it says that it uploaded, but there are no pics there. The pics are in my hard drive so I used the "browse button". Do I need a URL link?
  10. There are a ton of posts on how to convert to 5 lug on this site. most of this is done while trying to get bigger brakes on our Z's.
  11. Hey guys I figured I'd chime in on this one. I got a set of Rewinds a few months ago for my S30, and they look sweet. I've got 205/60/15 tires on my car, and I have no rubbing issue. In fact I'm sure I could have gone with a 215 size tire with no issue. My tire choice was based on the largest tire size I could fit on the rim while still keeping the stock tire height of 24". If you are rubbing the front fender I would check to see if your tensions rods are bolted tight. I noticed that when I installed the ball & cup style T/C that 1 of my tires was almost 1" forward of the other. And after doing some checking I founf that I had not tighted the the nut on the T/C rod enough. Hope that helps
  12. Most of these guys will sell you just one of the gaskets if you ask. And I think that Courtesy Nissan is now selling parts for the RB also.
  13. Wouldn't notching the frame weaken the cars structure? Unless you weld in some bar stock to triangulate the front tub.
  14. I was hopeing to get the "Cheat Sheet" from someone. I've got so many things running through my head, that I'd hate to try and fire it up and fry the ECM. If I have this right I'm going to run the wire that went to the coil to the ECM and a 12V constant to power up the ECU. The rest of the wires are left alone, Right? I don't know why, but I can do everything else to a car except wireing. It just scares me to look at all the spaghetti.LOL
  15. That's a real tight fit even with the stock turbo. Might be better suited to a RHD car. Why not use the stock Manifold and use a bigger turbo on that. How much PSI are you looking to put out? An internal waste gate should be good for up to 16psi.
  16. Try this site; http://www.zcarcreations.com/howto/voltreg.htm and http://www.zcarcreations.com/technical/lr160term.htm The Maxima Alt has different wireing connections, but they are all labled the same. You could use the ZXT Alt and simplify the connections(same plug). Atlantic Z Club has more info @ http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/alternatorswap/index.html Good luck.
  17. I read a lot of theory on this thread, but has anyone answered the question? Will these rockers work with a standard cut L cam?
  18. I've never seen an 240Z with A/C. I thought that the first year as a Factory Option was 1974. MSA has a A/C add on kit for about $800 that is a lot simpler to install than Vintage Air.(And it's very similar to what the dealer put into these cars) But the Vintage kit gives a better finished product. If you get a 74-78 Z with out A/C you can find a similar donnor car that had A/C and transplant it. That's what I'm planing to do with my 260Z.
  19. I put one of these from MSA, and it works great. I still need to get some speakers in front, but I don't want to cut a hole in my door panel. There is a thread where someone is making Fiber Glass panels for the Z with Speaker insets in the panel. http://www.zcarparts.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=SP
  20. Are these guys smoking Crack. It's like $5 a page. I can get the whole Manual off Ebay for $10. And I downloaded an R33 Manual for $0 from a web site. It covers the RB25 & 26
  21. So far I see 2 deciding factors as too which way to go. Apllication & Prefferance. Aplications like Drag Racing would benefit from a Big Single. Auto X would benefit from a TT set up. There is also how much power you want to put out a Big Single would be good for huge boost 500HP +, while a quicker spooling TT making 20PSI or less would would be good for around 500Hp. I also like the more linear feel of a TT set up. I've seen argument from all sides, and I'm more confused about it now, then when I first started looking for answers.
