The OP doesn’t want to spend the money on an appropriately rated transmission. The TKO600 is rated for about 25% more torque capacity than a T56 and it’s less expensive. But, he won’t break either one unless he gets traction. If he knowingly installs an underrated trans and then proceeds to make modifications to get bite, and consequently breaks the trans, then I’d say the joke is on him.

I was able to buy a new 600 for less than I could buy a new T56. I can't say I've looked at used prices lately, but I'd be surprised if the T56 was less, used for used.

I assume you're talking about a an S30 that's had it's roof removed, as opposed to a Datsun Roadster? If so, my first and largest concern would be structural integrity.

Magnecor is the only aftermarket wire I've been using for the last 7 years or so.

I've put about 60K miles on my '98 M3 over the last 3 years. Stock for stock, the M will KILL an S30 in darn near any performance category. It's been one of the better cars I've owned. BUT... it's pretty boring and, while it does generate a lot of grip, you always feel like you're forcing it. It doesn't have that anxious "play play play" feel that you get in an lightly modded S30. In my opinion its a darn good car, but it's not nearly as fun as some cars. Heck, my winter beater is an '88 Civic with stud-less snow tires mounted all year long... and it's more FUN to drive
