  1. Let me see if I can answer most of your questions: I have some extra fuel injectors for sale in the classifieds. You should be able to run the stock injectors up to about 12PSI - whatever horsepower range that will be. It may be beneficial to just go to an aftermarket engine management at that point (I use MegaSquirt II) I am using a stock 240Z fuel tank with a surge tank. I have a fuel pump pumping fuel from the gas tank, to the surge tank, and then from the surge tank to the fuel rail. You should be using a stock 280ZX Turbo distributor, it is the best one for an L-series engine. It will be the only one you can use with a 280ZX Turbo ECU and it is easy to get working with other engine managements as well. P90 or P90A heads are fine.
  2. I have one as well if blackice falls through shoot me a pm!
  3. $120 shipped for everything? That's less than the price of the ignition itself. Also, the distributor is modified for the crane cams ignition so it's kind of useless without the ignition unit. Let me know, or if that's too much make me an offer and we'll see if we can work something out.
  4. I have a set of wires, Crane Cams XR700 electronic ignition, a coil, and a distributor which were all working on my old L24 if you are interested.
  5. Thanks for the advice guys. I actually ended up getting impatient and bought a T3/T04E turbocharger that helped to make 325WHP @ 17PSI on another L28, so we will see where I can get with that. If that doesn't work, I may be hitting you up about getting a deal on a different turbo, Adam!
  6. Yeah, that pop off valve was for overboost protection, I believe. Just run a blow off valve and make sure that the wastegate on the turbo is working properly.
  7. Nope, you can get rid of all that vacuum junk. Look around for pictures of shaved intake manifolds. That's literally all you need. For the TPS, though, you will need to figure out how to orient it correctly. It cannot be adjusted. You may consider just using the stock ZX throttle body because the 240SX one probably won't help with the stock electronics anyways.
  8. Legally, you have to run all of the smog crap that came with the '83 engine. Really, though, you don't have to get the car smogged, so nobody is going to care if you run none of it. I live in San Diego and I have none of the emissions junk on my L28ET. Also, with stock electronics, you need to use the ZX TPS.
  9. How does the ground for the TPS look? You're using a 240SX TPS right?
  10. I know this is not really relevant at all, but what wheels are on the red Z?
  11. Head gasket will be the first to go, but other things could break as well. To be safe, just give it a tiny bit more fuel, and up the timing. Do you have a wideband?
  12. You know, most guys use lotion...
  13. That whole set up looks great! However, I've heard some negative things about fiberglass car seats. I was looking at a set similar to yours, but was told that if you were to get in a wreck with them, it's possible for them to actually break. What are your thoughts on this?
  14. That sounds like a very, very conservative timing map. To give you an idea, I am running this: 100kpa - 36deg 120kpa - 32deg 140kpa - 27deg 160kpa - 25deg 180kpa - 23deg 200kpa - 20deg 220kpa - 17deg 250kpa - 15deg Maybe something like that will work better for you?
  15. Hey, Mike, hadn't thought about that! Great suggestion! I love this place.
  16. I'm looking at upgrading my turbocharger in the next month or two, because the one I have is getting boring, and it is also starting to blow by some oil. Also, my Z needs a Christmas present. I would like some help selecting a new one. Here is what I am running in my car right now (not sure how important any of this is): L28ET with forged bottom end and ARP fasteners 450CC DSM injectors (and I have access to 550CC RC Engineering injectors...) Non EGR intake manifold Factory L28ET exhaust manifold FMIC My requirements are: Internal wastegate Somewhat low boost threshold (below 3500RPM?) As little fabrication as possible My current target is approximately 400WHP at this time, but I will probably want more in the future. Right now I am looking at a GT3076R (http://www.cimotorsports.net/motor-sport-products/garrett-gt3076r-turbocharger.html) or possibly a GT3582R (http://www.atpturbo.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=GRT-TBO-006&Category_Code=GRT) but I would like to know what experience others have had using these turbos on their L-series engines. I know that a Holset would probably support my requirements, but I have heard about issues with their reliability. Also, I am looking for links to turbos that people recommend, if you are recommending something other than what I listed - I don't have my heart set on anything in particular - I am simply looking for suggestions. I just want to make sure that the turbocharger that I buy will be the only one I will ever need to buy for my car. Thanks guys!
  17. My actual tune barely uses the TPS at all - almost entirely MAPdot, but the TPS signal is good to have for datalogs in my opinion.
  18. I'm not sure if it will help you since you're not using a Z throttle body, but I was able to use a 240SX TPS by using two large washers with the bolts that were used on the Z TPS. I was able to set it so the washers sit over the "wings" coming off of the 240SX TPS, and it is able to hold the TPS down. Hope that makes sense!
  19. Kind of, but you will also need to use a 280ZX Turbo distributor, with a chopper wheel from a 300ZX, and either a 300ZX or 280ZX Turbo wiring harness. You should be able to find some info if you search.
  20. Yeah, I definitely did regret it! I could have got some sushi in Oceanside much more easily! A few of us should meet up sometime, I'd love to see you guys cars!
  21. Ah, I living in Oceanside, and work on Camp Pendleton. I was heading up to San Clemente to get some sushi!
