  1. Give it a chance fellas. I'm almost positive lots of people were skeptical when they releast the 350Z on paper, I sure was. Then when you saw one in person, It grew on you didn't it? I have a feeling the new GT-R will be the same way.
  2. I don't know how much interior room your looking for, but if your talking about enough room for your wife and kids plus plenty of room for bulky stuff then I'd look into getting a midsize truck like the new 4 door Frontier or Tacoma 1. These new "midsize trucks" are bigger than ever. 2. 4x4 plus all terain tires 3. Towing capacity. 4. Truck bed plus a roof rack, anything goes. 5. easy drivability. 6. It's a truck! super versital I convinced my parents to get an 07 Frontier last winter and since we've had it the whole family, friends, relitives love it. We do alot of boating/fishing, snowboarding, shooting, ect. and it's very handy. Just to give you an idea of pricing, we got a 4 door, 4x4, Nismo package, with all the good stuff for 20K used. Still has the powertain warenty, but I do all the maintanence and it's a breeze. if your interested let me know I can show you some pictures and give you some info. Oh, doesn't buying a new car suck?
  3. This topic is really vauge to me. I think what determines how much power is enough should be how controlable that power is. I'd be scared as hell if I drove an 800HP car with a flimsy chassis, soft suspension and crappy brakes, whereas I think i'd be a lot more comforatable in an 800HP F1 car. Then after that it comes down to the driver's capabilities.
  4. you might want to talk to your auto or home insurance rep. to help out with damages
  5. Thanks Jon. I guess my only problem is if I can buy the rails individually. I either had a choice of 16 ga. or 14 steel tube. I wanted the rails to also serve a proper jacking point from the side with out bending the floor, frame or anything else. I don't think it's that much over kill considering most guys are using 2 x 3'' .085 wall ( ~ 14 gauge) In your experience, which method seems to be the most affective when removing metal from a uni body: 1. drill out factory spot welds and use a chisel to separate peices or 2. cut out with cutoff wheel and use plyers and chisel to "peel" off remainder of metal or what other tecniques have you used that work?
  6. I made up my mind to make my own floor rails and made it out of 1 X 3" 14 gauge steel tube. I already finished my driver side rail which connects from the T/C to the bottom firewall/floor then back up to the rear subframe. When I started to make the frame rail on the passenger side I noticed that my stock FRONT frame rail was seriously bent, dented, and mangled. (see pics) So before I weld on the floor rails I wanted to replace or rapair the front frame rail. Should I just replace it with a stock frame rail, or use 2.5'' square tubing? How can I make sure I keep the exact same loaction for my cross member and t/c bracket? anything else I should be aware of before I attemt this?
