  1. Very nice!! What is the word on when IRL will have more than 1 engine / chassis? I read a few months back that other OEM's were interested in providing engines.
  2. If it is the later year model that has the LSD, then it should have a pretty good ECU that can be tuned pretty good. Can be used on L motors as well. I have also heard of the fuel tank baffle being used in other fuel tanks.
  3. Got some pictures of the engine bay uploaded. Let me know your thoughts. http://picasaweb.google.ca/martens.peter/PicsOfCar# Let me know if that link does not work.
  4. If that only described my problem. When I put the battery in and turned the key, there was ZERO activity. No lights, no ticking, absolutely nothing. One of my roommates got a camera, so pictures should be up after the weekend. The wiring in the car really is 'unique', well just about everything is.
  5. I gassed it up, put a new battery and . . . nothing. At all. From the way the wiring looks, I might 'get' to do a pretty complete re-wiring job.
  6. What do you expect? They are shut in for just about half the year, and go slightly mad-scientist with the extreme dark and light swings. Very awesome though!!!
  7. Have to say, I really like the mindset that the Grassroots magazine takes. Learn to do the work yourself, make parts fit, make your own parts, and be creative. See the convertible 'Vette from last years 200x challenge, that had a motor creating a negative pressure underneath the car, with a rubber skirt?
  8. Now that is good old fashioned hot rodding! They made most of that car from scratch, way awesome!!! I remember reading in GRM about the work it took to fab up those 180* headers, I really do wonder how much of an increase they actually provide over long tubes. Just looking at the amount of work done, that family really knows fabrication, welding, . . . . . really awesome.
  9. Ah, one sorta big problem. The front windshield is cracked, top to bottom almost right in front of the driver. Anyone have an idea on where I could source a replacement?
  10. Thanks for the tips! And yes, it does have points still, the PO recommended that I update that.
  11. I picked up a solid '71 Datsun 510 yesterday. It was running when the previous owner parked it in his garage, he just didn't have time for it. I will be flushing the coolant, brakes, gas, oil, and re-greasing the wheel bearings before running it. On the gas: I am going to just pull the tank to get it flushed out. What sort of shop would be able to do that properly? How should I flush the fuel lines? Carb? Marvel Mystery oil: I have been told to put two shots worth into each cylinder, let it sit overnight, kill the spark and crank the motor to get it really mixed in, then sit again. Is it good stuff? I have never re-conditioned a car that has sat, so advice is welcome! The PO auto crossed the car, so it is not nearly stock. Very much a home built job: VW sideflow radiator, L20B block, port and polished head, Crane cam, Cannon intake, Webber carb with a manual choke. The paint is mostly primer, the only rust I have been able to find is above the drip rail on the drivers side and the very bottom of the right rear quarter panel. I also got a whole bunch of parts: extra 4 spd + driveshaft, 5 spd + shortened driveshaft, rear disc conversion set, Suspension Techniques swaybars, set of axles, extra intakes and manifolds, stock carb, trim . . . Sounds great, but heck, the side and rear view mirrors are no longer attached, the product of a small garage, two 510's, and several kids. Plus, several trim pieces are missing etc. All I have for pics is an almost useless cell phone, I will attempt later.
  12. What sort of experience do you need to get into the BP? Is it like getting into Army or a CHP academy?
  13. If not the GTR driveline, then what AWD system would you suggest?
  14. Whoa, if they are still in business, well, I might make use of their services as well!
  15. Take that to a track day, and I would be MUCH more worried about rolling it that being T-boned. Designed on CAD? Nice!
  16. What is that??? What engine ran it into oblivion?
  17. Looking at the roll hoop, I think I would have used double hoops. If tracking, a set of roll cage tubes extending down to the front of the Atom as well. Not a whole lot there when overturning, and I would NOT want to be trapped ala Richard Hammond.
  18. Looks like a Toyota motor. Any idea which? I can't imagine welding something like that up!!! Keeping everything straight - one wrong move and the headache!! I read a Lotus-7-esque DIY book, and it recommended that if you do weld up a frame, that you do several and sell them. Wonder if that guy is going to make a few extra
  19. http://www.redz31.net/ That is the place to go. T3, the T25 is to small, and with the T3 setup you are able to get some pretty good combinations. The Later model ECU is really quite tune-able, from what I have read.
  20. It needs wheelie bars to get any good ETs
  21. Right up there with the Skyline version!
  22. Nice, so it is going to have the R35 ITB look?
  23. Interesting looking intake, what is the plan for them?
  24. 1993 Yamaha XJ600S Seca II. Almost 41K miles, runs great, except an overdue valve adjustment. It is my only transportation, wind, rain, sleet, hail, 110+ summers, taken it all
