  1. Are there any 5 speed transmissions that can bolt to those V6s? And take the power?
  2. The easy way seems to be the I5 and a Holset. Cheap and powerful Anyone have a pic comparing the I6 and I5 oilpans?
  3. Looking at the pics of the I6, how much easier would it be to fit the I5 version? Looks like the biggest problem is the oilpan and the overall height of the motor. These engines are so affordable, if they are swapable I just might take the plunge and and get a Z to put one into. LSx's are so spendy, especially the manual transmissions, similiar problem with SBC's plus their stock EFI limitations.
  4. That I8 reminds me of the Duesenberg's, very cool look.
  5. What transmission are you going for? 4 speed auto or a stick?
  6. Well, it does cost nearly nothing to make, and is sorta interesting.
  7. I have read news that Toyota is teaming up with Subaru to build an AE86-like vehicle. Supposed to use the boxer 4 from the Subarus, and be RWD. If built, should be interesting.
  8. Love to hear what sort of MPG's you manage with that, compared to stocker.
  9. WOW, I wonder what the PSI and CFM ratings are on that.
  10. I got to talking with my brother about the performance of the early Z cars, and for the life of me I can't remember seeing any empirical data comparing the early Z's to say the Corvette or 911. I remember reading a multi comparison of several import sports cars, Fiat, Triumph, etc, but never anything pitting the Z against the icons. How did they stack up in stock form? 0-60, 1/4, lateral G's, slalom, etc. Perhaps someone has some nice scanned articles? And this came up after I got some quotes on smog exempt Zs from Hagerty, which look very promising. Actually affordable, but that is for another thread.
  11. The SBF swaps are interesting to me, mainly because of the greater availability of the T5s for them. T5s for the SBC are just plain spendy, and the Muncie's don't have the most friendly gear ratio. Just have to work on finding some good insurance carrier that will be nice to me with such an older ride. Don't really want to pay 1xx for a Z a month.
  12. The rear, IMHO, is ruined by the hatch glass starting so high up and ending so low. Looks like a Porsche 928, but not classy. Then again, just about every car is best viewed in person. Can't wait for a ride, friends G35 4 door 6 speed is VERY awesome, completely stock too. Less weight, more power, what is there to hate? What is the word on pricing? From what I've heard, it is going to be in the mid 30K's, leaving room for a 240SX-esque vehicle in the mid to high 20K's.
  13. Just a thought, but how would this fit into 2nd gen F-bodies? A guy at work has a 74 Camaro he is doing some body work on, no plans on the engine. But a blown I6 would definately be different
  14. I agree with Alonso's need for superior tech, great finish to a difficult season. Sebastian Vettel and Robert Kubica
  15. Massa had a really good shot of winning the championship, but Ferrari's stupid electronic pit lollipop ruined it for him in Singapore. Remember when Massa had his motor blow up on him, with like 5 laps to go in the Hungarian GP? Those two right there would have given him +20 points. I'm not going to debate the stewards decisions in Spa, that would even be an issue it was not for the two failures.
  16. But the Viper ACR rules them both on the 'Ring with a 7:22.1. And the team that ran it there said that with more than half a day of testing the could have gotten more time off. Excellent article on that by Motor Trend. Exclusive bit done on the event.
  17. What limitations do you have on the car with its 'pleasure' status? Mileage cap?
  18. What advantage is their to destroking a 400 down to a 377? Quicker revving?
  19. If you have E85 available in your area, that might be a good path to go down. The fuel system would have to be upgraded, but what I have read on the octane rating of E85, somewhere in the range of 100-105, gives lots of opportunity. Higher compression n/a or a nice turbo setup, good to go either way.
  20. Very interested to see how a RWD R8 does along with the other big dogs in GT3.
  21. What are the plans for it? Just put a replacement motor in? If my memory serves me correctly, the GTU is n/a, with LSD rear ends that can take a decent chunk of power. I'd vote for a nice V8, lots more options for power. Maybe a 302, since the SBF's have more T5 transmissions for a better price, at least it sure seems so.
  22. Are either of those Chevy or Olds motors compatible with production motors? The Aurora would be a Northstar, what would the Chevy be? SBC? LT1?
