  1. A few years ago, a bank in my area was broken into, with the robbers going in through the roof. Hasn't been solved yet. Guess several Hollywood stunt and special effects guys were short on cash waiting for the next Mission Impossible film
  2. Has the power band moved down the RPM range much? Wondering if your torque converter is still optimal for your new turbo. Which is awesome! E85 really is great !!!! 530/430 is pretty darn good! So that TT V12 AMG, is it in a Supra or Benz? Saw an article on a [iirc] French guy who put a quad turbo V12 AMG motor into a Skyline. Kinda like two RB26s stuck together.
  3. Perhaps it has to do with the coolant flow design. By bypassing the thermostat and radiator, the engine still has good flow with the coolant, keeping temps even between hot and cold spots.
  4. How many aftermarket heads are available for the LS engines? I know and have read about tons for the SBC, but not so much for the LSx's. It'll be interesting to see what sort of gains those heads will give you. Cam perhaps?
  5. I too have wondered why Nissan did not brink the Skyline series to the US. Sure, would have taken some work to adapt to LHD, smog, and crash certify, but would have really enhanced the brand IMHO. Mind if I ask, but how difficult is it owning that GTS? Registration? Insurance? I presume it has been VINed already, so that must make things a good bit easier.
  6. 7:18? That driver must be nuts!!
  7. I really wonder how long the drivetrains will last when being punished with heavy launches. The clutches must be hurting. From what I've read though, the transmission doesn't fully disengage while shifting, providing some amount of power during the shift. If someone who knows it better knows more on that, I'd love to know. Very interesting. Also, I remember how they shift quicker through their gears, keeping the revs in the powerband. And the slick transmission helps do that expeditiously.
  8. Wow, you've really done some good work!
  9. I was thinking the same thing. The air would not have as much pressure with that sort of gap. Not as if that engine really needs lots of cooling though
  10. The VQ37 has the Variable Valve Event and Lift tech, which controls lift and duration continuously. Very cool tech. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Variable_Valve_Event_and_Lift
  11. We do have a weights and measurements government agency that regulates such things. I'm talking about the difference in fill amount that some stations will do. They put in the right amount per the pump count, but another station will pump more. Not a ton, but on such a short trip, a fill to the neck of the gas tank combined with a very low fill would show a very good MPG. On my Honda some pumps, if I'm not careful and slow them down towards the end of the fill, will actually spill a little. Just a thought, very awesome MPG's though!!
  12. Perhaps the 1st gas station filled higher than the 2nd. Happens to me, different length gas filler heads.
  13. Quite sure you started the trip odometer when you last filled up and not at the edge of Pasadena?
  14. I do not remember seeing 'Vette brakes on a Z, how hard was it?
  15. Looking good. Time to start shopping for some forced induction?
  16. Looking good! I'm wondering how the intakes will fit in there. Especially hood clearance.
  17. Looks interesting, but I know nothing about those Subies. How much can be wrangled out of the motors before internals break?
  18. I am going to go and pick a friend up from the San Francisco airport Friday, then take him over to Sacramento. I will be getting onto I-80 from I-505 around 3pm, and can't wait for the traffic Is it worth it to get a FastTrak tag? What costs are involved? I looked at their website and it does not give any specifics. I would have to get the tag on the way down, there are two Safeways in Vallejo that are listed as retailers. Thoughts? I REALLY hate idling forward in the toll lanes, more so in heavy traffic.
  19. Current desktop, go through quite a few. This is the GTO my dad got when he returned from Vietnam. 400cid, 4 on the floor, and sold in the late '70s for "some white Toyota".

  21. Well, if a S30 were to be fabricated in aluminum, or custom built up from scratch, it could be 'upgraded'. Stiffer chassis, longer rails, perhaps a Gnose like front end, wide body as well, and just overall better aero. That would be interesting to see. If the S30 interior bits would be used - or even 240SX / Z32, which seem to fit with some work - dash etc, I wonder how far down the price could be kept. They do make tube frames for replicars like the Cobra for decently low prices, but I think that a quality package might edge closer to that of the Noble M400 price. The Noble rolling chassis is around $75K, and the Factory Five kits look to be starting at $20k. Wonder where a good S30 [re]design would fall. Just need a market with enough demand and money to back it up with.
  22. I do not have the technical know how to separate the different options out of the parts list. How much would retrofitting a M2x or a T10 cost? Tremecs and their ilk are pretty expensive right out of the gate, but some of the adapter prices aren't that cheap either. So basically: How does the cost of a new Gen III compatible manual compare to the total cost of adapting a SBC box? Getting a good price might be good for some of the budget 5.3L builds going on out there.
  23. Looked at the pics again, and am once again in awe. Great looking car! Kinda curious, what is the focus of the project? AutoX, daily driver, weekend blaster? Suspension looks like it is ready for some serious action!
  24. I found it in a magazine add, and absolutely love the classic lines. http://album.hybridz.org/data/500/Mystery_Car_001.jpg Exposed stacks, engine almost dead-center in the vehicle, in a vehicle that resembles a cartoon[almost]. Anyone know what it is?
