    What is it?
  2. 342 fwhp??? That is to the wheels, right? That is ALOT of power, now wonder why your clutch is slipping! How good is the aftermarket for that SS? Good options for a better clutch setup?
  3. Well, I finally got a bike. 1993 Yamaha XJ600S Seca II. Don't have any pics yet as I haven't taken possession, but it is in nice condition. 36.1K miles, carbs just synced, rear brake redone. Got it for $2000. Plus it is a very livable bike, with good upright posture. Took a bit to find a jacket that I liked, and settled on the Joe Rocket Alter Ego 2.0. Got the dealer to bring the price down to $253, their retail is normally $275, but as they had to order it and it is for sale right around $250 on websites, they decided to play ball
  4. With the extra power, might you put some drag radials or maybe some slicks on to see what you might get your times down to? Who says FWD daily drivers have to be bland!! And yes, I'm very green with envy
  5. I have a subscription to Car Craft, and looking at the article I get a rough $575 for the parts list on converting an auto over to a Gen III. Would be good if you already have a built TH350/400, but how much would it cost to put a 4L60E up to equal strength? Not to much more to get the complete engine and transmission when getting a Gen III pullout. Hard to beat OD if it is a street car too. It really is interesting seeing what can be done. Sometimes I REALLY wish I didn't live in California. Articles on guys slapping on turbos to stock blocks in late model Mustangs and Camaros eats me up sometimes. Quite alright if you are pre '75, but I wish the fun was for all.
  6. What is the car? Cobalt SS? How about ETs? Come one, you can't just post a picture of an upgraded blower and not give . . . more pics!! Smoky burnouts!!
  7. Is the bellhousing still SBC or do the Chevy NASCAR motors use a different bolt pattern? The 426 Hemi was designed as a NASCAR motor, what did it take to get it rocking on the 1/4? Might be similar to what the RO7 might have to do.
  8. Any idea what a flat plane crank would do for that motor? Looks to be standard still from that comparison pic. What compression do the NASCAR guys run? Fuel? Wonder what it would take to tame one of these for street use
  9. Very nice!! Any plans for the motor? Suspension looks ready for some serious power . . .
  10. Nice looking ZX. The paint reminds me to a degree of a patina job, looks sorta burned. But good
  11. Wow, that was done on a R200 rear end? What IS your build comprised off? Engine, turbo, you name it, I am VERY curious!!!
  12. I've heard that the Escort GT's are actually pretty good stock. Read it in Grassroots if I recall properly. Mazda engine, beefed up rollbars, etc.

Any idea what that aluminum blocked motor weighs out to? Anyone know about bellhousing compatibility? Anything manual in the MB range?
  14. Just for the idea of a front mounted turbo, here is a SBC with such an install. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=134781 Looking at the pics on the 1st page of this thread, it looks like there might be some issues clearancing some flipped headers [or the like] for a front mount turbo. That motor is sitting really low and far back!! Compression of the motor might be an issue, wikipedia lists it at 9.4, which could pose a problem when turboing a stock block. The supercharged version has a 8.5 CR.
  15. I remember seeing a similar installation of a Altima / Maxima FWD VQ with a transaxle mounted in the back of a Z. It was done using largely OEM components, drive-by-wire etc, and looked really clean. Took a good bit of work to get it in the hatch compartment, but besides that it looked darn good. I don’t have the Photoshop skills, so I will have to attempt to describe a possible project: Keep the cabin from the firewall and A pillar to the B pillar intact and move it forward into a shortened front [former] engine bay. Insert an extension, perhaps from a 2+2, behind the B pillar, to provide additional room for a properly balanced mid engine installation of a VQ and LSD transaxle. The rear could be modified into a rear deck / hatch, ala Pantera, with the engine in an insulated compartment to keep noise and heat down. It would resemble a MID4 prototype but with the classic Z lines. How much power can you get out of it? Think it would have too much torque to be usable, guy at work does mad burnouts with his chipped Cummins in his Dodge 2500. On that note, how about a Cummins I4? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cummins_B_Series_engine#3.9L.2F4B A bit heavy at 745 lbs wet, but 130 hp and 355 lb/ft torque. After swapping one of those in, your next challenge would be finding out how much tire you could get in the back. And how quickly you could demolish said rubber
  17. The Z in the Nissan Sport mag is really nice, turbo KA, BRE paint job, full build.
  18. I've read that the dual clutch transmission actually continues to transfer power even while shifting, and so is able to go through more gears in the early acceleration curve, keeping the engine in it's peak performance band. Sorry, I've read so many different reviews I can't remember which magazine it was. Supposedly this weeks Top Gear is the last of the seasons, seems odd. Not that many this time around.
  19. I really don't remember seeing any pictures of say, a Ferrari or other flat plane crankshaft. That might be a nice way to judge the amount of counter weighting. Or some technical specs, weight of pistons, rods, counter weights. Might not be possible, but hey, might be out there. Just a thought
  20. Any idea what the cause might have been? Any factory service bulletins lately dealing with sudden and catastrophic fires?
  21. Given that you have been working with the intake for a while, what are your impressions of the lower intake plenum? Does it flow well enough for a N/A engine, or would it benefit from porting? Is the "testing phase" going to include flow numbers, both stock and ITB? This sure looks good !!!
  22. Very nice!! Any plans for it?
  23. Man, that really is a small motor! Perhaps a Holset turbo front mounted . . . ?
  24. Let us know how far that gets you. A friend has a 600rr an gets 37-42, so he says. But he does drive like he is being chased by a dragon.
  25. Wow!! And, eh, you got it for the economy as well . . . right ? Looks brand new, what method are you going to use to break it in? Go easy on it or get those rings nice and hot?
