  1. For the sake of argument, what if the entire thing was heat treated to relieve stress? Not really practical, but theoretically it should negate any advantage of a single piece, right?
  2. What's you use the exhaust on? Slammed68 was talking about old school SBCs and LT1s which use entirely different heads (and pretty much everything else) from the vortec and LS engines. SBCs and LT1s use head configuration so the center two and outer most ports are exhaust and the second, third, sixth and seventh are intake.
  3. Wow, those look nice in white.
  4. Yeah, the Jade Mica is awesome. Between the two purples I'd go with II
  5. No, you put the tube around the nipple or screw. It just keeps the fluid from spraying everywhere (like on your clutch) and makes it easier to clean up.
  6. Search and there a couple threads about switching a ford t5 to chevy. Here's one: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=124042&highlight=ford+t-5 If you're going to last long here on HybridZ you're going to have to get acquainted with the search feature. Answers to both your questions have been discussed before.
  7. That's quite the hood ornament That truck would be really sweet with a SR or KA in it.
  8. Wow, that is beastly! Can't wait to see vids of it doing the 1320!
  9. You all are nuts I'm happy being just a member, by the way.
  10. If it was in Germany it was probably a roe deer, which are much smaller than our white tails. It probably wasn't 140 lbs either, maybe 70-80. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roe_deer
  11. Are they the same on the ZX? If so I might still have them on my car.
  12. No problem and welcome to HybridZ, by the way. If you have the space for it I'd suggest buying a whole running donor car (camaro, firebird etc) so you can steal all the nickel and dime stuff from that rather than paying and waiting for Jegs or summit to get you parts. If you want to gain some of the money back and have the patience for it you could part out the stuff you don't use (body panels, trim, interior stuff).
  13. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=123403&highlight=datsun+transmission http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=83886&highlight=datsun+tranny This has been discussed a plethora of times. Basically, it's cheaper and easier to get a T-5 from a camaro rather than spend the money on the adapter plate for the datsun 5 speed which will likely grenade under the torque of a V8. Even though some of the ZXT transmissions were actually T-5s, they had weaker internals similar to the S-10's tranny. So short story long, yes but it's not worth it.
  14. If I were you I'd start out making a half dozen parts or so and selling ONLY what you have ALREADY made. DON'T TAKE ORDERS until you have established your process and can make the parts at a consistent quality and speed. I think the biggest problem guys run into when they start a project like this is they get in WAY WAY over their heads with people asking for parts and throwing money at them and they forget to manage them selfs.
  15. Are you planning on using the spray cans or a gun? I'm pretty interested in that stuff too. Where'd you get the sample, on their web site or call them?
  16. Break cleaner if you're not afraid of loosing your finger prints or cancer in 20 years. There's also some de-greasers that work pretty well. I've used a couple of the orange based ones that seemed to do pretty well.
  17. I have a 305 in my ZX and it's pretty zippy. I'd say (being a poor college kid also) just finish your swap with the 305 and save up to build a 350/383 or whatever small block you want then swap the 305 out later. It'll only take a day or two for the actual swap since all the wiring, hoses, exhaust is going to be pretty much the same. What intake are you using with the FI? Edit: I forgot to say, this is exactly what I'm planning on doing. Since mine in carbed it will literally take a day to change engines. After that it's another half day tuning the carb/ shake down cruse.
  18. I just found this one yesterday. Some nice wheelies on the street and a pretty sweet drag Z in there too http://1320video.com/Dec1Mexico.php
  19. Hahaha, sounds more like a concussion!
  20. We haven't been getting too much show around here lately. A couple inches at a time, then when almost all of it melts it'll snow again. The worst part is all the sand and salt they spread that gets tracked in EVERYWHERE.
  21. Why not go with the 5.3? Unless you have a lead on a cheap LR4, I'd go with more cubes. I can't imagine the cost is going to be that much more.
