    carb spacers

I think the big difference would be at high rpm`s where intake velocity is greatest. I believe you would get similiar gains from the l28 because you are not increasing the intake port width or height. The gains should be proportional to cubic inches.
  2. Paint would be a very temporary fix. what type of exhaust do you have? if it is stainless or aluminum, i think it could be polished. If it is just steel, I wouldn`t expect much.

    lsd?

I`m not positive about the sx, but the Z`s have a finned aluminum cover for heat disipation. this would be a good indicator
  4. It seems a little steep to me, but if I needed them for a resto job and they were real nice I`d probably do it. If this is just for your swap, i think you could find some repo`s or somthing else for quite a bit less.
  5. I`ll do the swap for you, but the shipping to and from my shop could be expensive.
  6. What confuses me, is that here in ohio, I (a life long US citizen)can`t even renew my plates without presenting my social security card, and or my birth certificate, and a state issued picture I.D... BUT illegal aliens are allowed to get a state drivers licence with NO picture I.D. whatsoever
  7. Usually this will not happen within the factory redline limits. One way to safeguard against injury is to use a scattershield or blow proof bellhousing.
  8. It could be a bad bearing/seal in the turbo, but I would check your intake valve guides as well. Considering the engine is turbo`d it would make this likely. Under boost(high rpm) it doesn`t smoke. This tells me that you when you have positive manifold pressure it pushes the oil back through the guides, but at idle(low rpm) when you have negative pressure in the intake (ie, vacume) it draws oil through the worn guides. As soon as you accelerate, the extra air flow as well as manifold pressure forces the oil into the cylinder where it burns off. My .02
  9. "how to build horspower" by david visard is an excellent book to learn from.
  10. The 3.4 that I mentioned did NOT have overhead cams. It is an overhead valve design with the cam in the block, and based on the 2.8/3.1 60degree V6 that was so poular in the 80`s FWD cars. Lots of information that would cross over for a Z swap can be found here... http://v6mgb.com/forum/index.php?sid=2bdfec16d993f1c01cd95be4007c64e2
  11. What weld process did you use to attach the primaries to the flange? and, did you weld from the head side of the flange? I just recently watched an episode of Horsepower TV,where they showed what is involved in proffessional custom header fabrication. It was very interesting. I too have done some header fabrication, but not near as extensively as you have. Great job
  12. Here are the links I promised. http://www.midwestmotorsportsinc.com/ For some reason one link won`t work. The site is,National automotive lines. Their ph# is 1800 428 4300 I hope this helps.
  13. I bought a 1 piece pan gasket locally for 34.00 but since then recieved a catalog by mail that has the same gasket for 17.00 Later (after the kids go to sleep) I`ll find it and post more details. This catalog has lots of deals on all sorts of parts.
  14. I`m a little mixed I think it would look better if the air dam moulded into the integrated bumper like the MSA front does. it would also need flares to blend in at the fenders properly. I`m sure someone with good fiberglass skills could make it look good though.
  15. Try the 3.4 v6 w/t5 trans from the 93-95 camaro and firebird. I`m planing this swap for my wifes mgb. The weight savings is over 100lbs over the stock 4cyl and 4spd trans
  16. it sounds like a lean fuel condition to me
  17. I`ve considered putting mustangII front suspension in my z, but figured I already have enough fabrication to do without adding something that`s not completely necessary. it would look sweet though.
  18. I personally think the car has potential. The front air dam is fine, the whale tail would be ok without the rear bumper. I don`t care for the tailight panel, but the flares are fine. I`m not real fond of the sideskirts either, but they look to be home made one-offs, and definitely took some skill to fab up. I think what makes the car look so shabby is the crappy yellow paint. It looks like a spray bomb job to me.
  19. Well, we got the stuff moved today. I called in a favor from another friend with a front end loader. He came over and we loade and unloaded everything inless than an hour. What I got was... 1)bridgport mill with all the attachments and clamps 2)surface grinder with several extra stones 3) drill press 4)band saw with extra blades 5)several machinists hand books and tool catalogs 6)bench grinder with diamond cutting disc and grinding wheel 7)granite surface plate 8)several different sizes of micrometers and dial indicators, along with the magnetic base There is still more, but we didn`t have time to get it all today. He is making a little trek around the country on business and has to leave early tommorow morning. BTW... I did buy him breakfast this morning, and put pads and rotors on his car last night (he bought the parts)
  20. The best part of the deal is the price, FREE The friend that is giving the stuff to me was divorced a couple years ago and just needs to get it moved out of his ex wifes garage. He`s even helping me move the stuff.
  21. Tomorrow morning I`m going with a friend to pick up a bridgport mill, surface grinder, drill press, disc/belt sander, and a few other misc things. Combined with the tool collection that I already have, I should be able to fab up almost anything. The only thing I really need now is a metal lathe.
  22. If you are making the set back plates from aluminum, I would suggest using a metal band saw to cut them out. I cut my front motor plate with one and it worked flawlessly.(and very quick)
  23. Trevor, I could email the pics to you for downsizing, and you could email them back to me so I can put them in my album. edit; I just forwarded them to you.
  24. If I could figure out how to shrink some jpegs, I would post some picks of my frame ties. They take the place of the original frame rail and take up no extra space(except where they extend rearward to tie in) BTW.. I think it took me less than 10 hours to complete mine, and cost about 50.00 for materials.(that`s with all the right tools though.)
  25. I`ve been wanting to get my "private licence" also. It`s something I`ve been thinking about for a few years now. That will have to go on hold for now since we have another baby girl on the way. I guess I should concentrate my extra funds to finishing my current projects before I take on another costly one. But, Someday...
