The first thing that popped into me head as I read your post was, EGR valve or EGR control solenoid. This is not specifically for your car, but a general diagnosis based on my experiences with ALL makes of cars.

I knew a guy from my home town that built a 454 bbc in the bedroom of his house trailer. not only was it too big to get thru the door, it was also too damn heavy. Just imagine 4 hefty guys trying to haul a complete BBC thru the hallway of a mobile home.

I think 1 Tuff Z was saying, you could have the entire 240z parts car WITH the 4 spd trans if you come and pick it up. That would be a great way to get started, and the price is right.

I bought my first car(65 corvair)when I was 13. I did a basic tune up on it and just cleaned it up and detailed it. I sold it about 3 weeks later for a 300% profit, and used the money i made to by tools for bigger projects. This has been an ongoing trend for more than 20 yrs now. Some people nearly drool at the sight of my shop and tool collection. I too have what could be considered "photographic mechanical memory". Now... If my memory otherwise was just as good, I`d be in alot better shape.

500HP from a 350 with double hump heads seams a bit high. From what I`ve heard , it would be quite a stretch to get ANY stock cast iron heads to flow enough cfm to achive 500hp.(double hump or not) I`ve got dartII sportsman heads on a 383 w/ .525 lift cam that only runs about 450hp. For the price though, even if the #`s are exagerated,it still sounds like a reasonable deal. Especially with the installation help. MY .02

Why not use the ford 351 windsor rather than the 302? you get the same cubes as the 350 chevy AND have the distributor up front. WIN/WIN IMO I`m using the sbc, but only because that`s the engine I got the deal on. SBF and SBC can make relatively the same power per cubic inch. Also, 5 spd tranny`s are easier to find for the ford.

My dad also had a 65 barracuda fast back, red with white stripes. I loved that car. I`ve been looking for years for one to replicate it. Someday....

Dhans, You must have titanium testicles to be able to crawl around under that settup. It doesn`t look like you have much extra room on to of those blocks that your stands are perched on.

Greimann, Do you happen to have the part# for the sealant that I recomended? I went to our local GM dealer today and they don`t stock any GM brand rtv, but the guy at the counter said if I can get a #, he`ll track it down.

I`ve heard of using "hillbilly chrome" or aluminum paint on head gaskets to solve problems with blowing them out.
