  1. Are you going around corners or in a straight line? Douglas
  2. There is not much between them guys. I think the dorlleto's are a little less complicated and hence slightly easier to tune. Every comparison test I have seen has only a couple of hp difference. Douglas
  3. The only thing I would ad that hasnt been mentioned is find a good insurance broker. One that leaves you alone to do what you need to do and understands your needs. Mike, It sounds like you have thought it out. Buisness' with friends and family can be disaster but they can also work as long as the people involved have clear objectives and a similar work level. Here in New Zealand the positives far out weigh the negatives. Cars and fuel paid for, house turned into the office, power and phone paid for, Travel becomes buisness trips etc. All of this before you pay tax, so here we are 45% ahead. Go for it. Douglas
  4. Maybe I have watched to many old horror movies, but what do you need a silver bullit for... Vampire or werwolf Douglas
  5. Dont forget that nissan used these engines in there imsa sports cars. Richard , you should remember those cars. Raced by one of the Brabham brothers and they won a few championships with it. They started with the sohv v6 and made huge power with them. Something like 1200 in qualifiing if i remember correctly. Douglas
  6. Good call Boobala! Not many would pick that. That alfa is damn nice. Douglas
  7. Tim, The engine is a fj20det. Bloody stout little engine. Nissan used them in there first rally silvias in N.A. form and up to 2.4 lts Car was called a 240rs. Getting rare now. Douglas
  8. Cheers guys, Will check those out. Rick, how are things working out with those 2" spacers. Any problems? Would you do it again? Douglas
  9. Paul, Any change of reposting photos, sound like a very nice car. Douglas
  10. Howdy Z-tard, Do you have any photos of your wheels on your z? Thinking about importing some and want to know all the ins and outs. Wont be running coil overs with mine. Cheers, Douglas
  11. P.J. You probably dont need to make it adjustable but its a hell of a lot easyer to fit if they are. I just made some for my ride. Gots some left and right rod ends and some extra nuts for them. Welded the extra nuts to the tubing and there you have it, on car adjustable bars. I cant rally see how bolting the bolts through front to back or up and down makes much of a difference structurally. Mine are front front to back on the strut and up and down on the fire wall. Beacuase the strut aproach the fire wall at an angle this made the brakets a hell of a lot easyer to make and I think it also speads the load better with a lighter bracket. You might even be able to share the mounts so that you only need three mount instead of the six that I made. My engine was out so I wanted to make shure I had enough room. So I didnt go that way. Douglas
  12. Draging this one back from the dead........... Rick, do you know if that place you got the wheel adapters is still going. The link doesnt work anymore. I am trying to get wide rims as well. Might have to inport them from the states and those mustang rims are bloody good value. Cheers, Douglas Forgot to ask, Do you have coil overs on the rear? I am thinking about 10.5 inch rears with non coil overs. Want to run a small as flare as possable.
  13. I did this to a 280zx I had about 11 years ago. Everything was pretty much bolt on. I just played with the fuel pressure to get more fuel. Little smokey of boost and there wasnt a lot of pull at high rpm but the lower rpm torque was a big difference over the NA set up. Didnt run the car for very long like this before it was written off so I cant add anything about durability. Douglas
  14. Stoped by the fiberglass place I was talking about yesterday. They said it was urathane (sp?) foam. Douglas
  15. I will give the guys I bought it from a call in the am. Yes its usable with polyester resin. That why i bought it. I am in love with it. It sands really nicely. I have used it for my undertray on the z and a clam shell type nose cone that I am making for my corolla. I doubt you can get it from a home depo or similar place. Not here anyway. The Fiberglass wholesalers should be able to track it down by the description. The guys I got it from were custom fiberglass developers. Came across it by chance. I forgot that you had done all that work to your z. How's it coming along? I have also done a mini g nose with a air dam. http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=948&cat=500&page=1 Old photo but you should get the idea. We should be pretty close to paint on mine. 3.5 years to get it there. Bloody "while I am at it " strikes again. Cheers, Douglas
  16. I feel that I am in the same boat as Randy. Spelling and typing are not my thing so I dont get involved becuase I think and speak at a certain level and type like a 6 year old. I dont think I am alone here and this could very well be the trouble with internet discussions. It is very difficult to get your point across on the net with out upsetting someone. They can not see the grin on your face, the inflection in your voice, the way you look or how you are trying to express yourself. This tend's to lead to a lot of unneeded agro. This is the only place I come to. If you want to talk politicaly, Fine. Religon I could do with out. Just keep the above in mind. Oh, and dont forget, Its a world wide web. Cheers, Douglas
  17. Oh dear Michael. You do not know what you are in for. Unless you are planing some new style hood then just save and go buy one. I have been doing a one off body kit for my corolla and have months in the sanding and filling needed to make it look ok...... from a distance. Next time I will make a mold. If you must continue along this path go and get some foam that's designed for composite molding. It like the floral foam that Terry O. likes to use but you can get it in 4' by 8' sizes. It is super easy to sand and light so you just glass to it and it becomes a part of the hood. Then do the other side and you will have something pretty strong and light. May as well use normal glass though. Hand lay up's with glass and carbon will be about the same weight. Cheers, Douglas
  18. While we are on this subject, Has any one used headers designed for a sbc into a 55-57 chevy. They look a lot like the .........Bugger, who makes them.......The ones Mike Kelly sold a while back. Help Mike! Any way the ones mike has and a few others have were designed for a sbc into something like a 32 ford. Ones for the 55-57 chevy looked bloody similar and there are a few co's that make long tube headers for that aplication. Might be worth a look. Douglas
  19. So, What brakes are you going to use? You going to redrill the rears? Cheers, Douglas
  20. I was having a search around for some s31 300zx hubs here. The wreckers are asking around $250 Nzd each side. Aparently the also bolt onto the early skylines and cefieros that all the little boys are drifting. That could be another source for them. I was going through all of this to try to get some newer late model mags. In the end it was going to be to expensive and I have found a place that will do some 17 x 9's that will fit for a pretty good price so I didnt persue the idea. Douglas
  21. Dont use that site as gospel. There are some rather large generalisations. It would be good to know what you are using the car for first. In chapter 14 of Carols Smiths 'Tune To Win' he talks a bit about tuning solid rears for road racing. My copy is from 1978 so there could be a little bit more info out there now. Anyway, Let us know what you want to do with it. Cheers, Douglas
  22. Just get the block, It will go on the tranny you already have. Douglas
  23. Cool. Now you need to figure out how to make it go around corners. Douglas
