  1. If you find out the answers to either of these questions, be sure and let me know...I usually make my own fun (if you want to know where the fun roads are, I'll point you in the right direction). I have one friend with a 280z 2+2 that is too busy to ever do anything (also too busy to join hybridz), so I'm the only Z that I know. Primadonna Z is right over the bridge, but I've managed to never run into him either...So who is you all (you'll have to change that to "y'all" once you get down here, you know that, right?) anyway? So far, it's just me...if there is a Y'all, somebody call me up! The closest road track I'm aware of is Sebring (several hours away), but there are a few drag strips in the area. Good luck with the new job, maybe I'll see you around!
  2. Yeah, that's not a standard air dam...possibly a modified version of the same one everybody gets, but definitely not an off-the-shelf piece that I'm familiar with.
  3. He could have at least stolen a picture of the 240hoke-mobile like everybody else does...
  4. Search for the "smoothness of bmw v12" thread in the Other Engines section, starring Chelle. Been done, and been done very well at that.
  5. I don't know, the $200 1959 Corvette Corvette he's also selling sounds pretty legit...amazingly enough, it also turns heads!
  6. I was eyeing down one of those 4.0L DOHC Aurora engines in the boneyard just the other day and wondering if there was a RWD tranny out there for it...seems the water pump is on the flywheel side of the engine, but it sure was a cool looking motor. There used to be a conversion package sold on www.race-cars.com in the engine section to upgrade a standard Aurora engine to IRL spec, but it seems they aren't there anymore...it was like $8k and came with all kinds of stuff, looked pretty legit.
  7. It actually hides inside the drum...
  8. Alright, I got an email from the admissions department that says: "James would like to have a followup phone conversation with you regarding admissions decisions and possible scolarship opportunities..." I'm taking the scolarship part to be a positive omen on the admission decision part, what do you guys think? This call is scheduled for 11am on Friday the 27th. I'll keep you posted.
  9. I kind of like "al-you-min-ee-um"...it sounds so much more high-class than the american pronunciation...the one I can't stand though is "Nuke-you-lar". How hard is it to sound it out? It's clearly "Nuke-LEE-ar".
  10. Higher than it was, if you can believe that. The pipe USED to hang directly under the diff, and now it's tucked to the left like it's supposed to be.
  11. Speaking of burnouts, I'm of a mind that this thread was approaching sticky status...http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=114696
  12. So what do you guys think? It sounds pretty tough, and the fumes are pretty much gone relative to how it was before. I'm happy with it, and I suppose in the end that's all that matters really.
  13. I was thinking maybe something like what this guy's got... I don't know about that vortex generator on the roof though...
  14. I was able to get the Blue part mounted today, but I'm still fabbing up the pipe. I originally made this cold, without doing any preliminary measuring, so I'm not to upset with the amount of re-engineering that needed to be done. I'll most likely have the exhaust on tomorrow, and I'll post pictures of it on the car then.
  15. Here's a teaser of my new exhaust exit strategy. It's going to come out of the rear quarter panel right behind the driver's rear wheel. I may or may not be able to actually install it tomorrow, but I'd like to try and get it on sometime this week. I'm hoping that sending my gasses out the side will cut down on some of my in cab fumes. Of course, this means that I'll no longer be using my rice can muffler...just an inline glasspack and my stylish new tip...
  16. When aerodynamics attack:
  17. On the subject of Gigantor throttle bodies, I've got one that I don't really need/plan to use. It's missing the actual throttle plate (it was like that when I got it-who takes just the throttle plate out of a throttle body in the junk yard? whoever ends up with this throttle body, that's who), but it does have an intact TPS sensor. If anybody is interested, I'd straight trade it for a ZXT turbo manifold (or a whale tail, or money, I'm easy).
  18. I wonder why they opted not to use velocity stacks inside that plenum instead of just sections of tube? Maybe they've just got an internal radius?
  19. Hey Tony, do you have any recommendations for any books that might be a little more up to date?
  20. That Vette sounded like garbage on a stick, and was blowing brown smoke like crazy during it's dyno pull as well.
  21. I'm so over qualified for that job it's rediculous...Bachelor's degree, ASE parts certified (yes you can get an ASE certification in just parts knowledge...but nobody cares), know how to tie my own shoes...the list goes on and on...
  22. I know this thread's pretty much run it's course, but I just watched something that would make me cry: Notice we have a TWIN remote mounted turbo on this corvette. How much would you estimate this would make? If you said at least 650hp, like I did, you'd be sadly mistaken: I'd send it back if it was mine...
  23. www.amvracing.com in Orlando offers custom 2,3, and 4 rotor eccentric shafts. I talked to the guy at Hot Import Nights, and he said this engine makes 700hp. It's a custom shaft on 13b guts and rotor housings. Uses the timing stuff from a Turbo II and a Microtech ecu to manage the spark. This one is getting a Supra tranny and a Ford 9" in a 1st gen RX-7. He said they're putting together a twin turbo version that they're going to put in an FD. Now that I think about it, seems we talked about everything but prices... email them at: ilmattoluna@aol.com phone/fax: (407)207-5507 cell: (407)242-7982 For the record, I'm not affiliated with these guys in any way, but I thought maybe somebody would be interested in doing a rotary swap worth having (no offense intended to Owen or Auxilliary).
