  1. Could you resize your pictures please to a reasonable resolution?
  2. Regarding the stitch welding... Someone more knowledgeable can correct me where I'm wrong, but you shouldn't have welded the strut towers solid to the wheel wells. The reason you stitch weld is so that the metal has some room to flex. Either it flexes... or it cracks. You don't want it to crack. From what I'm gathering you want to use the car for, I wouldn't bother with stitch welding. Just get some bad dog subframe connectors, weld those in, and call it a day. As for the rust on the rocker, got any pics? Sounds like it's a small spot. If it is, you should be able to cut it out and weld it up and be fine. Keep in mind, there are cars around that were once missing a huge portion of the rocker before it was replaced. Mine, for example, was (still is) missing pretty much the entire top of the rocker from rust.
  3. Nice buy, Mike. E36s are pretty sweet cars for the cash. Would love an M Coupe, but can't afford it. Settled for an E30 which I picked up Saturday. Seems like there's a fair amount of BMW owners on here.
  4. Sorry to hear of the old Z's demise. Got any pics of it? Don't think I've ever seen you post any.
  5. $800 for a set of street tires? That sounds like a bit much. That's $200 a tire! http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSearchResults.jsp?skipOver=true&width=215%2F&ratio=55&diameter=16 There are a LOT of tires there going for around $400 a set.
  6. Wow, you've had some really nice cars! Can't wait to see what you do with the 260Z. Keep us updated.
  7. So you bought #1905! Glad it went to a good home. Can't wait to see what you do with it. That A pillar rust is frightening! I thought my A pillar rust was bad, but not compared to that.
  8. No, that's not normal. That's way off. I was thinking it was only 1/8" or so. Either something is a poorly made aftermarket piece, or there's something wrong with your Z, I'd say (guessing)... but I can't imagine what.
  9. It just looks like surface rust. The cowl of my 280Z looks a lot like that. Throw some POR15 on it and call it a day. The cowl panel you can replace, or just have it blasted/wirewheeled, and paint it. It does look a little bit worse on the cowl panel, but it might just be the picture.
  10. Saw this on another forum and decided to pass it along. The link: http://www.proxibid.com/asp/Catalog.asp?aid=42192
  11. Thanks Clive! After some more searching, this is what I came up with. The group buy thread: http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/69851-fuel-cell-style-components-for-stock-z-tank/page__p__659736__fromsearch__1#entry659736 Apparently MONZTER did it first, as seen here, in post #14, and on: http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/58109-turbo-z-gas-tank/page__p__532591__hl__%2Bfuel+%2Btank__fromsearch__1#entry532591
  12. I thought it was jerryb who set up a group buy for a ring you weld onto the stock tank so that you can put in baffles, and an in tank pump, but I'm not finding anything from searching. But it has been done. I'll edit my post if I find anything. I'm kinda thinking it might've been 1tuffZ but I don't think that's right.
  13. The whole car, with just a few exceptions, should be 20 gauge.
  14. I think CCW offers a non-polished silver finish, kind of like an anodized finish. Those LM5s would also look good, and be a lot easier to keep clean.
  15. Another vote for gunmetal or silver. I don't think black centers would look nearly as good on your car.
  16. Nice pieces. I wish I had known to bring up a sun visor or something to have him sign. The whole weekend was pretty last minute for me, so I didn't know.
  17. For posting pictures: http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/57387-%e2%80%9chow-to%e2%80%9d-post-pictures-on-hybridz-the-easy-way%e2%80%a6/
  18. Think I might've seen this car racing at Watkins Glen this weekend, or one that looks just like it.

  20. Not a direct swap, but not a hard swap, I don't think. It's been done before. I can tell you that it definitely requires cutting, and maybe welding.
  21. I really don't think anyone wants to pay 20k for a bunch of undriveable cars. Also, if it's the same guy, looks like he moved them if I'm not mistaken.
  22. My opinion: Get a new chassis or do a tube frame. With rust like that, and having had a Z with rust like that, I'm guessing the rest of the car isn't great either. I'd junk it... that's what I did.
