  1. Not in my experience they aren't. My parents have one '78 280z (~168k) and one '86 Jetta GL (497k), both of which have been with them since they were nearly new, and as such, have been on the east coast the whole time. The 280Z has had a door replaced, a rocker, a repaint, and possibly more, and currently needs 2 dog legs, and 2 rear lower quarters, and some other misc. repair. The Jetta is all original, and needs part of the trunk lip fixed (minor) and there's a little battery tray rust. That's it. And the Jetta has just under 3X the miles. The Jetta has been a daily the entire time, so it's seen its share of winter weather. The 280Z was parked in 1993.
  2. Haha, yes you did, but unfortunately you're not an admin. I realize the admins are busy, but a simple "We acknowledge the problem and will look into it when we can" would have been nice. And to make matters worse, since the pictures get their very own box with their own scroll bar, it makes it a pain in the butt to scroll left/right. At least if they're part of the post, you can just scroll the whole page sideways. With this system, you have to click the pic, scroll up, and if you're not where you want to be, you have to scroll back down, scroll right/left, then scroll back up and see if you're there yet... rinse and repeat. I just gave up though.
  3. I made a thread about this a while ago and nothing was ever done, or even said. Not a word from any admin. I'm sick of it as well. http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/95854-maximum-photo-upload-size/page__p__901372__fromsearch__1#entry901372
  4. Almost positive it goes to the door switch. I was looking at my car today and noticed there are two black wires, and they go to the door switch. I'm thinking that's your answer. The location is definitely right.
  5. Pictures please. Sounds like it could be the door buzzer switch depending if it was the wires or the solenoid itself that was above the hood release.
  6. Josh, if you find out anything, report back. I'm in the exact same situation. Crap grades, but wanna go abroad. My backup plan is to just get a one way ticket to europe and screw around until I'm bored or broke after I eventually finish college.
  7. Do you have windows installed? If not, why not remove the window frame?
  8. Good choice of music, Lozer!
  9. +1 It's what Top Gear does. Don't take it so seriously.
  10. You might consider going with the original Datsun white (I forget the paint code) if it's close to the Lambo white, and you like it. I think I read you can change the color without hurting the value if you change it completely (inside and out), and it might even help if it's a more desirable color than the original. However, I think that only applies to year correct colors. I think this question might be best asked on classiczcars.com though.
  11. You have rust in the doglegs, roof, hatch sill, fuel filler door, and somewhere near the battery tray and it looks like it got the frame rail as well. I PROMISE there will be more, and my car is a perfect example of that, and mine is arguably less rusty than that car as well, and I'm on the east coast. Unless you really want a big welding project (and there's nothing wrong with that), find another car. And to answer your original question, I would not pay $1700 for that car unless it was the only one left on the planet.
  12. There's plenty of nearly rust free examples in CA. Don't even give that car a second thought.
  13. Where are you located? Can you weld and fabricate? Personally, I wouldn't touch that car.
  14. Love the color. I'm not really a fan of side skirts on S30s, but I'll admit, yours look much better than most since it looks like they were properly blended in, and are actually part of the car, instead of just an afterthought.
  15. For your steering column clearance issue, you should take a look at what EMWHYR0HEN did on his VQ 240z. Maybe you could do a similar solution? Thread: http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/69340-project-vq-is-underway
  16. Eh, if you buy wood pre-split like we do, all you have to do is stack it. IIRC we go through like 4 chords a year? That might not be right. The thing about coal vs wood though is that wood is an easily renewed source whereas coal is gone forever once you burn it, so it's a little greener. Not to come off as a tree hugger (ironically, talking about chopping down trees and burning it), but I see no point in wasting when there is no need to. And then there's the smell...
  17. Three massive stacks in the basement + more on the covered porch, thank you very much
  18. No need to power the heater if you have a wood stove like cygnus and I do.
  19. So... you guys got quite a bit of snow eh? I'll leave this here.
  20. You had to wear a long sleeve shirt at nearly 60 degrees!?
  21. It was 45* out today and actually sunny later in the afternoon. I went for a nice bike ride to stretch my legs. Haven't done that in a while. From this huge storm all I got was fog and a little rain.
  22. Looks like it's gonna start snowing at 5am, then turn to freezing rain, and then switch to rain at 8 and rain the rest of the day. I'm actually hoping I don't have school canceled, I've only got these classes two days a week, and I missed them once last week because of snow already. It's getting tiresome.
