  1. just weighed my z today. 73, 6pt autopower cage, pdk strut assy, full tank gas, mm front brakes, 240sx rear brakes, recaro seats, subwoofer, 245.35.17 tires, with me in it [175#]. weight; 2830, f:r balance 48:52. can post corner weights next week.
  2. thanks mike. i saw you [in the other thread] mentioned a sub like what was done for pinks. perhaps a sub for the info would be something to consider and that access would be by subscription only. can't wait to see the results. i'm waiting patiently! lol
  3. this is to all who were involved with the hands on part-thank you. not to forget those who participated from afar [yours truly included] via our donations-also thank you. it was great to see this cohesive group pull together to pull this off and generate such a mass of great info which will [ultimately] benefit the entire z community. here are some thoughts [my 2 cents worth] to ponder. does hbz now 'own' the information-as intellictual property? if so, will / can / should it be sold to other groups-such as; nissan sport, other z websites, z related parts vendors or will it be simply given away? does hbz offer a subscription giving access to the information? should the entirety of the results be released here first or held back so as not to dilute the nissan sport article? again, just some thoughts i've had while reading through all the posts on the thread covering this awesome event! i consider myself fortunate to have discovered hbz-in fact, i'd still be driving an inliner instead of my LS1z!
  4. very greatful to all who put the hands on for this project. i'm now patiently awaiting the results of the testing. will be great to see what does and doesn't work for our z cars-no more guessing! of course, i may still be the slave to fashion-as my z may still wear what i like vs. what actually works. we shall see...
  5. i would not use wood. local hardware stores or a machine shop should have the size you need-sprin steel roll pin should do the trick. i'd take them the wheel to get the proper size. length i'm unsure of, anyone?
  6. the assortment i took them included; rusty, grimy, greasy, filthy, etc. i asked-what do i need to do? his reply-"nothing, we'll bead blast what's rusty and chemically clean all the other stuff". it was pretty simply, stop and drop it off. taking another 'load' on monday to them! pimped jewelry for our z's [YO]!
  7. i've been collecting z parts for 20+ years now and sometimes would just toss stuff [i know, i know] because i didn't have the space. anyway, some stuff i didn't rid myself of due to the fact that it was smaller. a couple of years ago i 'found' a business local that does plating-clear & yellow zinc and nickel. 2 weeks ago i finally got off my butt and took a box of old parts there to have them yellow zinc plated. anyway, i'll stop typing and let the pictures [larger images in my gallery] speak for themselves... i would be willing, now that i have been the test on this to do some plating work for others interested. please contact me thru this email [one_tuffz@yahoo.com] directly [please no pm's] and we can discuss arrangements. no aluminum parts, some rust is ok. david
  8. From the album: replated z parts

this pic shows the washer nozzles, throttle rod and some old engine slingers...
  9. From the album: replated z parts

you can see one of the gas caps as well as part of a water pump pulley i had done.
  10. From the album: replated z parts

just picked up these parts i've been collecting over the years-from my local plating place. they do; nickel, clear zinc and yellow zinc [my parts in the pic]. came out superb and look like new parts!
  11. i carry a spare from the old 80's rear drive maxima [810]. it's a 16" compact spare and easily clears the 240sx calipers i have on the rear. won't clear the mm extreme fronts i have. so if i have a flat on the front gotta do a bit of moving around.
  12. this may be a candidate for a... STICKY!
  13. last summer down a relatively untraveled [no commercial traffic] highway i hit 162-and subsequently blew past a ny state trooper, bout loaded my drawers. in the nano-second [and my state of temporary stupidity for going that fast on a public road] my fight or flight wrestling match said-RUN! go to jail, lose car, wife leaves me rotting in the cage, z gone-yes, they all went thru my brain cells. then, i hit the speed limiter-saw white smoke in the mirror and thought blew the engine-could it get any worse? evilz was riding passenger. he then says-u musta hit the speed limiter [i though the engine was toasted]. i then held it at 160 and ran. fortunately it was successful and i avoided, jail, loss of license, extreme wrath from wife, z being impounded. too long a story to type, don't try this one-i never will again. oh, we were in 6th gear, turning 4500 rpm, indicated 160 mph, 3.9 diff. z did feel a bit floaty but not too bad...
  14. how bout these-retro, and inexpensive... http://corbeau.com/products/classic/classic.shtml
  15. here's mine, slight roll to the rear lips, fronts are stock. still have a bit of room for wider tire. could also lower it a bit but raised it about 0.75" to add safety margin for the ls1 oil pan...
