  1. i always thought anywhere between 0.030 - 0.040 was good for quench, and you guys are going closer to the .015's? isn't that too close for comfort in the event (highly likely) of metal expansion, i.e. - rod stretch and slight piston rock?
  2. what did you do in the way of testing for spark or proper fuel pressure? perhaps the ignition coil is fubar'd, the spark plugs are gunked, or the fuel pressure regulator is stuck too far open.... remove the rail bolts and test the injectors into a bucket if you have to, or set up a jig. thats where i'd check first.
  3. it might look good on those pieces, but you'd probably have to bondo the heck out of them to get them smooth first. and as for microsuede, it won't feel like microsuede. LOL. it will just feel like a dash that's been coated in a paint that feels soft. not by any means luxurious, but it should be nicer than regular repaints.
  4. chuck has those parts, i'll send him an email for you refering to this thread.
  5. whats the point. if you were to take off some material to keep them original, but have a performance improvement to them, sure... but if you're just cutting them up to save weight and change their look........ then go for a nice forged wheel. LOL. CNC'ng that out will cost quite a bit, especially for 4 wheels.
  6. i think the sport max with that colour and tire size look great! best i've seen yet, even though I find them quite boring now. but i'd hit it
  7. that looks like a 3D rendering used in order to get the restoration geometrically consistent around the entire car.
  8. great look to it! love the sunrise scheme too magnifique!
  9. I'm just curious to know when they roll out!
  10. I saw that, but I was wondering whether or not focusing the actual vortices along a set path would make them even out a bit more across each pair of cylinders. What about adding 3 more small diffusers, 1 in between each separation? here's a revision:
  11. PM me if you want part numbers. It's possible I can open up the Vintage CD model program in Nissan FAST and I can print you out a sheet with pictures that show you what style key it will be as a line drawing.
  12. JUN are discontinued, no? I have one that someone is copying. If you've not found one by then (ebay), then you might be able to purchase one. =) and shipping a crank from australia is gonna be hell. I think machinists don't wanna touch the flat spots because it's something they're not used to, and probably don't know how to set up their machine so the cutting tools don't smash against the edge of the flats on every revolution. perhaps a better way to do it would be to sand down the flats until they're relatively round and then proceed to finish off the machining, but i dunno. someone WILL do it. just keep looking. it's going to have to be in toronto or surrounding area.
  13. i think having zg's in the rear only isnt going to look good with any wheel unless the zg flare is painted the same colour as the car
  14. it looks crushed to me, but fairly well done, and minimal.
  15. any word on this yet? hows it workin?
  16. is it possible that the flash was not done correctly, and that the current firmware is bunk? Perhaps try downgrading to a more familiar firmware first, and trying that. This will eliminate two possible problems. 1) bad flash 2) buggy firmware. That's a good place to start. Do you have a simulator to test the boards features?
  17. It is, you're right. But I've played this game twice before for friends who wanted project cars. Go in, make a low offer. He won't like it. Give him your details and tell him that you're always willing to take it. Since it's a "must sell" and not everyone wants to buy a 30 year old car, it might just be there by the time it "must go to the scrap yard", and he'll be wondering if he can get a buck out of you. At that point, you give him "alls I gots in my bank, sir", and he will budge. 2000 is better than 150 at the scrappers. However, if it's a car you really like, make an offer close to par upfront. The one time I didn't do that was the time I felt bad for the guy selling me the Z31 I now own. I actually gave him 80 dollars more than what we agreed upon after he gave me all the receipts, documentation of repairs, and FSM's, as well as 2 AC Units, and an extra MAF. not to mention a car that is in pretty darn good running form. That's me on a good day =)
  18. I've cleaned my injectors, however the engine is not one that I care to fix, I just like hearing it roar, so I'm not sure what this will do in the long run to your injectors. What I did was I put a wire wheel on a drill press. locked the position, and wire wheeled any deposits off the metal part of the injectors (just for handling sake... dirty stuff sucks). Don't do this on the connector or the end of the injector, as they are plastic based materials. I then used a car battery to quickly power the injector and click it on and off. At this point I could tell which injector was bunk... But after a couple of clicks, it worked better. I then filled a stainless steel container with varsol, and left the injectors and o-rings in the varsol. I filled it part way up so that the tips of the injectors were positioned downward. 2 days later, I opened up the container, and battery tested the injectors and they all clicked louder than before, signifying that they were freed up to an extent. Looking in the varsol, I saw clumps of dirt and crud floating around. Thus, the conclusion that it did draw something out of the injectors. Put them all on, and started it up..... still a wonky idle...toiling over what's wrong... I realized that this time around, I left the 6th spark plug wire disconnected... Once reconnected, it ran great, all the way to 7000.
  19. :lmao:hahahahah... The technical matter on this site is so well influenced by experience and know-how, that we could write a technical book on the proper execution of punch lines. That one was great. Anyway, if you can't find someone to help you. just pop a post in craigslist, and say 20 bucks and lunch. If it's a couple of miles, someone will do it, and will be glad to hear your plans about it. What's funny is that the younger car ppl are both the cheapest to work with, and the easiest to deal with too. LOL.
