if the car must go, he'll sell it for 2500 or less. if you don't absolutely LOVE the car, I would say "2200 is my offer, if no one buys it by the time you need it gone, let me know" and then when he calls you, say you only have 2000.

cygnus, you have to write hybridz in the sky, or you will be forever banned from this website. the end. LOL. Those pics are awesome. How did you develop the light? do you have some high powered LED bulbs to trace it?

Anyone weld the cank collar with good results?

True enough. I just have no machine shop friends, or friends that know what they're doing around tools enough for me to trust them with exact tolerances I would supply. And the last engine "builder" I took my engine to didn't exactly impress me either. Hmmm, this is true. What I've found about most Ontario based machine shops is that they don't do the crankshaft work. They have some suppliers and service stations in which they know a person or two, and the follow those specific people wherever they happen to be working to ensure the same quality every time. I'm willing to bet that if they were working on the ENTIRE engine, they would do it. But just for the crank collar, they wouldn't because it might just not be worth it for them. -
Just as something to contribute, Ben Diggles of FJ20 fame once posted for sale a custom FJ20 crank that was one of a limited set, (2 or 3?) that were fully forged and counterweighted here in North America, and said they were to be sold for roughly 3000 - 4000 at the time (less than a year ago). He is a member on this forum, and since 4 cylinder cranks are somewhat similar to 8 cylinder cranks in regards to journals, you may be able to find a 4 cylinder crank that might fit somewhat, and then request a 180 degree v8 design that would be forged, and would withstand whatever you want. I think it's mentioned everywhere across this thread, and has become the general issue that the single plane is the only thing that is hindering the process of development. I personally, want to see this come to fruition with any engine that you guys have recommended, because I like to always see interesting and new projects (to me at least), especially ones that take everyone's experience and become a community project. I think that's why I like Hybridz so much. where's that donate button ahhhhhhh found it.

That restoration is nothing short of perfect! great stuff.

hey aux, this is nothing short of what I've had to deal with numerous times, as well as my employer regarding the exact same things. Rather than deal with someone who can't help you, there are some statements you can use in your calls or your visits to the bank to achieve great success in getting things done. My choices are usually: "Oh, so you can't help me? well then, please let me speak to someone who can." "So there's no one who can help me, except you... and you are saying that you can't help me? You don't have a superior that can escalate this issue? I feel that your lack of correspondence in regards to my complaint filed more than 60 days ago would lead me to believe that I have no security in the case that something like this happens to me again. Are YOU the person that has been looking after this the whole time? If so, then why haven't I been given your name before?" "Oh, so it's not you who's been working on my claim for XX amount of days? Then let me speak to the person who was." My personal favourite: "YOU are not doing a good job of putting yourself in the customers shoes. PRETEND YOU ARE ME, would you like to waste gas, run around petitioning people, having a sense of assurance that I will one day (apparently before the time is up) be granted an acceptable refund due to work that I DID NOT do, and now have to pay for because the ONLY PERSON who can help me with this issue (YOU, apparently, since you have no superiors) did not tell me how long I had to complete the aforementioned requirements. PUT YOURSELF IN MY SHOES" To be honest, I feel like an ******* every time I do it, but if there's one thing I learned, nice people finish last in the world of screwing people over. And really, the bank only makes money off your money, so they're the best person to file complaints with, in my opinion. Whether you have to be an ******* or not. TRY IT FOR ONCE, YOU WILL BE GLAD YOU DID. disclaimer: I'm really a nice person, I just don't like to be had.

would the following design work to improve flow to pairs of cylinders rather than creating 4 separate pathways, singling out the first and last cylinders as per the CFD test of the latest design? This image is in no way mathematically correct, as it was done in 5 minutes using Adobe Illustrator.

It's not a legality issue, it's a moral issue. They're friends, and they'd hate to see work go to waste. This is the reason why I seldom ask friends for help with high dollar items that can easily malfunction. I trust their work is good, but even if there was a defective piece of the puzzle, both I and they would feel like complete crap for it not working out, even with no blame. I can appreciate that, cause I'd feel the same way, always believing that I could prevent what went wrong. It's a shitty feeling. Some see it as an experience and a chance to test the waters, though. Those are usually the places that come out with extremely good results the second or third time around. But everyone wants to be that fourth time. Right after it's nailed down, and before it gets sloppy. -

I understand where you're coming from. It's hard to make this sort of decision. However, there's ALWAYS a possiblity of the engine going. Even on brand new assembled factory engines. That's just the way things happen, and you know that. LOL But at least if you make a checklist of most important things, and their prices as well as their impact on engine operation you can make an educated decision on what is worth the money, and what is not. It takes a lot of research. For an example, take a look at the attached PDF that I created a couple of months ago that I've been adding to weekly, in order to better detail my website. In this version, I have not expanded the final items, so even though you cannot see it, you can imagine the amount of work that goes into decision making. Only you will know what you can afford and what you find worthy. But hey, if you build up the engine, you will need an up-rated oil pump, and that requires a crank collar too, as they're all made to fit up to the R33 style flats on the collars. If you just put the head gasket on, then don't worry about it. IF you're going to build it, then do it. Nissan RB Engine Information.pdf -
What did that white jetta have to move that thing at those speeds? it took off on you at the straight. I'm wondering cause I've got the same jetta in my driveway. LOL

I'm not going to type out something in regards to how stupid it would be to disregard the oil-malfunction issue with the RB motors. It's clearly documented and has raised enough attention that if ANY modification were to be done to an RB motor, whether in factory form or in full race trim... it should definitely be the one to insure that either the oil pump doesn't fracture, or the oil pump itself is removed completely in favour for a better system. It might entice you to, instead, sell your motor you have now and buy an R33 version if you don't want to deal with the collar repair. Or you can go to the GTR Canada boards, and ask who has done the modification in question and ask how much and where. Whether you have money to blow or not, you'll end up spending more in the long run if you don't fix the error with either of the two ways described above (machine/sell). IMHO, that is ridiculous, and ignorant. None of what I've typed in this post is personal, btw. -
it looks like on the first pic, the top bolt holes do not line up level. if you were to cant the rear forward about 2 or 3 degrees, it will raise the flair, and also position the bolt holes parallel to the ground. I also think that you can raise it just a touch too. I'm not sure which side is which though. You'd expect them to come labelled, but sometimes that's asking too much. LOL.

I got a thought for you... ... you'z got a limited-edition T-4 now

Contact Mid Nite Auto Machine, on Colville Road, just south of Lawrence Ave. West, on Keele St. It's in Toronto, but you're going to have to make the sacrifice if you want to build it that way, or you could fork out the cash and get a late R32 or R33 engine with the wider collar. your pick. Mid Nite auto is a full machine shop, however, they send out all their crankshaft work to another person that he swears is the best in the local business, but anyone can say that. This is where I will be taking my engine. I just have to go scope out the place again before I go and see what else they're working on so that I can tell how much attention they will be paying to my parts. -
The alsa corp soft touch paint shouldn't be used for fabrics. I was toying with the idea of painting my car on the exterior with the soft touch paint. If you want to see what kind of paint it is, hit up a local cellular phone store. There are a number of blue and red motorola phones that have this soft feeling metallic/shadow looking paint to it that looks pretty nice and feels like a super super super soft version of microsuede. It's quite nice to look at and touch. It feels very soft, and it's scratch resistance is amazing. My cellular phone has been in my pocket with my keys for so many years now, and the only time it has lost some paint on the soft side was when I dropped it. There is also an anodizing process that provides the same results in terms of colour and appearance, however it takes on the texture of the substrate itself, and does not feel soft. BUT it's the same colour. This is why I did some research on the paint colour. I liked the kind of sheen it has, because it's soft and non glared, but I can't exactly anodize my entire car. or can i This is the finish I wanted, but in a dark olive green with a gold undertone:

so you had this setup running on an RB30, then? How much fuel pressure and how much flow is required for your power level? I have a 500 ml surge tank that I might use, not sure if it's sufficient enough. I may make a 1.5 litre one using a previa receiver dryer.

the bottom left one doesn't have a second cylinder, but another 4th cylinder. is that a common misfire?

hahah, or else it'd be like 30 per person, which is still a killing. If you guys are saying it's meant to be watched in the theaters, which is what I've heard for a bunch of movies lately, I'm starting to get convinced that movies are more about wow factor now than they are substance. made-for-theater films? i'll pass. LOL. I did hear Cloverfield was both good and so-so, and the newspaper this morning said it was poor. Then again I don't watch movies unless I'm at someones house who's watching.

I have a question about your experience, kcelectronics. Why wouldn't you just get another higher volume pump? Some math here (please tell me if I'm wrong): Walbro pumps (lets use this as the standard for our equations) pump at 255 Liters per hour. Lets convert that to gallons using two decimal places 255 / 3.78 = 67.36 Lets convert that to gallons per minute 67.36 / 60 = 1.12 So we have a final volume of 1.12 Gallons Per Minute or 4.2 Litres per hour Mr. Gasket Company, as an example...sells a pump called the Universal Micro Electric Fuel Pump. This pump is compatible with all fuels and additives, and is good for fuel transfer, as it has 4 to 7 PSI, and is rated at 35 gallons per hour, as well as a 2 to 3.5 PSI model, rated at 42 gallons per hour. These are MINI PUMPS. I'm sure there are some full size units that can flow upto 75 GPH. no?

Great CFD stuff! I was wondering if it is at all possible (with size limitations and other restrictions in order) if you would be able to have 3 tubes leading into the plenum, rather than one. and instead, to separate the air easier and focus a stream on each pair of cylinders, you could use a collector to split the air amongst the pairs of cylinders. this would make it a lot bigger but would probably focus air exactly where you want it to go for each pair, no? I'm assuming weight and space are of most concern. It looks like that TINY bend that you have before the plenum is creating a swirl. Perhaps instead of one large channel to spread the air, 3 smaller channels and a larger inlet would focus air without the use of 3 different tubes i typed above. Larger inlet, obviously because there would have to be some material in between each channel to separate them. If you have ALOT of room, you could even put cooling channels to pump a heat extracting liquid through them. That's getting carried away though, but it could easily be left open if you were not to use them because they recirc to the other side anyway.

I think I'm going to use the RB26 pan as well if I can for the RB30. I gotta check it out, but I want to use the top lip because the pan itself is pretty damn stout. Should hold the bottom together that little bit more =) Also, question for RIPSNZ: Do you guys flat-grind the main girdles on the RB30's to fit the windage trays like the RB26 girdles have? (those round cuts at the fastener head)

well they didn't make too many of them. 1500 or so? LOL

why hasn't someone invented a seat that has a suit glued to it that you slip into or zip up. Like a bullet proof vest that holds you in. Then you wouldn't need side bolsters i kid, i kid. I wouldn't want to be the one in that vest when something goes wrong and an immediate exit is required.

I'm typing this from work when I should be making changes to a website. BUT THEN AGAIN... I AM making changes to a website. (see: this post)

looks like it was an accident car or something and they just cut it up and had fun with it cause it still ran.
