  1. still a fan of the logo sticker... I'd probably have a use for another one or two. Perhaps also an option for just the text? I really like the font and layout.
  2. lol I think managing what you eat for lunch will have a bigger impact on your car's weight than this kit...
  3. thanks, that's good to know. should it matter much if the unit is at an angle? For example if its on the back of the rear-view mirror, I imagine it will only be able to receive from basically half of the sky... Maybe i'll test it in a few different spots to see if it matters.
  4. interesting. I couldn't help but imagining a tweeter in that mount. hmmmm Looks good though!
  5. there are rabbit shows? Thats awesome learn something new every day...
  6. wow thats nuts. I know its a tight squeeze to get to the exhaust side of the turbo there, but geez 4 hours? but hey, gotta love the sound of a nice exhaust on that motor!
  7. I'd be happy with just a few different styling options for the S30. Flares for one... Otherwise, not really sure what the difference will be in the game. Should be interesting to see
  8. Well I purchased a Sirius unit on Boxing day, and am just now getting to installing it. I'm happy with the unit, but am a little baffled as to the best place to mount the antennae. Just seems like it will break up the lines of the roof too much. Maybe I'm just being a perfectionist though. Anyone else using a Satellite radio unit on their Z's? Any creative locations for mounting that little puck? I thought about putting it where the stock radio antennae is, but it doesn't look like it will fit the contours well enough.
  9. http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/pts/1579376712.html $100 turbo motors...
  10. Looks fantastic. Did you end up using all 100ft?
  11. what did you do for the hole left in the stock door panel? (where the gear for the crank comes out of)
  12. lol so I just came across this game again. Figured I'd breathe some life back into this thread.
  13. The way I understand it, XXR bought, or otherwise combined with Sportmaxx. I've always heard pretty good things about sportmax wheels considering the price, so I would imagine that these wheels will stand up to a bit more abuse than one would think. Obviously no BBS, but I wouldn't mind going with these until I can afford something like true Watanabe's.
  14. I kinda like it actually. Though I'd probably put a scoop over it of some sort.
  15. lol to be fair, I think that setup of his is several years old. Not really sure what he's done to the car now.
  16. Joe-Z had that setup on his car. Let me see if i can find a picture... I hope Joe-Z doesnt mind me posting these for him.
  17. hmmm....who introduced the cup-holder? otherwise F1 and KERS. I know it wasn't the latest and greatest idea, but I believe the funding and research that is possible through F1 will show through production cars in the future, as is common with F1 trickle down technology.
  18. Its a pretty interesting point actually. In classes I've had to listen to my fair share of accident and incident recordings. Both cockpit and radio. Its almost uncanny how much more calm the pilots usually are than ATC. And the controllers are the ones who are actually trying to be calm. Hell, can't blame em though. I think it has a lot to do with pilot's general ability to compartmentalize exceptionally well. I think its one of the personality traits that makes pilots so alike to one another. I can't say that I've ever experienced an emergency, and I pray I never get to. Have gotten to experience some pretty interesting situations though. Nothing like learning from (safe) experience! Even at my relatively amateur level of training, you notice those moments when you wonder how you ever stayed focused. Oh also the single word replies were actually the best way to convey what he was doing. For example, the word "unable" is pilot speak for...'hit me again, cause that ain't happening'. It's a pretty universal phrase used when you know you are not going to be able to comply with their instructions. It would be immediately clear to both pilots and ATC. Just things like that save precious seconds when good communication is so vital. Professionalism at its finest from all parties involved.
  19. USair's SOP is that in an emergency the FO flies the plane and the Capt runs through the checklists. Sully CORRECTLY Improvised and used good judgment of the situation and his resources. (sound familiar?) Sully had something around 8000 hours in type, while Jeff Skiles had just finished classes and was on his first trip in type. What was the one thing he had been doing for the past month or two? Checklists. Procedures. Emergencies, etc. Who would you want looking through a QRH with no tabs? A good pilot takes ALL information, resources, as well as training into account before making a decision. Sometimes this decision contradicts training, and even procedures.
  20. Yeah thats what you're going for. a nice uniform dull color. The polishing will bring the shine out beautifully.
  21. I HIGHLY recommend the book "Highest Duty" by Capt. Sully. Fantastic read and really explains both everything that transpired in the air, as well as his life in aviation. And for the record, Sully did some things up there that were actually against the book... (like taking flight controls from the FO who was PIC at the time).
  22. As far as the wet sanding goes, typically if it still looks shiny and proper when you put water over it, then it will come back out with polishing. What I've noticed is if you can see scuff marks and deeper scratches through the water still, then it's burned through the clear.
  23. Thanks Tony! I'll go check google earth for sure. I remembered seeing some on the drive from Shinjuku to Narita last time I was there. Just had no idea where I was when I saw them I'm back home now, but might be going later this month for a few more days again. Didn't really have any time to leave Narita this time around. (My dad flies commercially, so sometimes I'm able to tag along for a layover.)
