  1. The only places that needed work for me was the front (where it tied into the TC Rod mounts), and in the rear where it bends down to the rear cross member where I also cut a 'V' into the ends of the tubing to accommodate the edge of the 'square' of the crossmember. Tim
  2. Tape measure, and trial and error fitting with the actual material. Didn't take as long as you would think. I had the car on a rotisserie though...it's the only way to fly Tim
  3. I paid $280 for mine...1993 Q45 with driveshaft, sideshafts, and diff. Tim
  4. Personally (and this is purely a personal opinion), unless the car is absolutely stunning and show quality, having any single panel (ie hood) a different color makes the car look like a project in process....kinda like you didn't have enough $$ to paint the hood too Maybe a gunmetal grey racing stripe or something like that......or paint the car to match the rim centers and have a blue stripe if you have your heart set on that color blue. Tim
  5. http://pepboys.crossmediaservices.com/pepboys/store_browse_view_all.asp?storeid=2314899&SortBy=5&ViewMode=0 No picture, but they are listed in the 'specials' section. Tim
  6. You can install to stock ride height or a max of 1.5 -2" drop without sectioning. Tim
  7. This one is not for a Z car, but it is the same idea: Or here is an article on strut shortening by Jeremy (Jeromio on this site): http://240z.jeromio.com/frontsusp2.html Tim
  8. The replacement will be an insert. You will need to remove the top nut that holds the spring 'hat' in place (connects to the threaded section of the strut shaft). (use a spring compressor). Then, to remove the old insert, you will need to remove the gland nut. Sometimes they are a PITA, sometimes not. I haven't had the problem yet...just used a plumbing wrench on the hex. Tim
  9. The fire was a result of arson (at least two of them). It could well have been the ELF (Earth Liberation Front).... Tim
  10. My suggestion is to end the communication now. Consider the subject dead, and ignore any further emails from him. Everytime tou respond to him, you are just adding fuel to the fire. Just call it a day and move on.... Tim
  11. Yeah, last I heard 200+ homes are down to the foundations. It looks completely surreal...like the opening scenes inthe original terminator movie!! I bet you can pick up property in San Bernardino area for cheap!! (sorry, that's not funny).... The 'FireStorms' look absolutely amazing... a weather system all unto themselves.. Tim
  12. Jim, You will have many questions as you get your V8Z sorted out. Easiest and fastest thing for you to do is to use the search function (from either the top of the forum page for specific topic searches, or from the home page for a site search.) To answer your questions, there are off the shelf headers (block huggers) and radiators for your car. Tim
  13. Watek wire has a nice fuse box. $32! Means doing some extra work to wire it all in but the price more than makes up for it. It's the same one I used for my electrical center. Tim
  14. Clean them up (free of oil and grease) and coat them with "Cast Siver' aerosol paint. It is fuel and solvent (and even brake fluid) resistant. It is available at any auto parts store. It has a Cast finish appearance when dry. Or....clean everything up to a nice clean shine and coat it with enamel clear. Tim
  15. As a consumer, I don't care where the product is made...as long as the quality and price (read value) is what i expect. Tim
  16. Tires are no problem. AS long as you don't mix radials and bias ply tires. Not likely in today's market. tim
  17. Get them together. The PCM for the engine also controls the Tranny. Tim
  18. Tomorrow (10/25/2003), the Ecology Yards are having their 50% off sale. Stuff is really cheap!! Tim
  19. Back in my days at the tyre shop, we would often get these old trucks that hadn't had their tyres replaced for ages. The bead of the tyre would be firmly fused to the rim. The only thing that would work well was to pour a can of coke into the bead (with the wheel laying flat of course) and leave it overnight. The next morning we could break the bead by hand. Make you think what that stuff does to your body!! Tim
  20. The old Country is South Africa. Tim
  21. AFAIK, there is no canister type mask that will adequately block/absorb the Isocyanates. If you plan to paint yourself, get a self contained mask/suit (remember there is also membrane absorption to worry about). Tim
  22. Just for a reference....back in the old country I ran a 4 cylinder car (mazda egi 1.6 liter) that was running 13.2:1 compression. I ran Avgas exclusively for years and had no problems. One caveat....all gasoline (petrol) was leaded, so engines were expected to run leaded. I used to sit on the freeway at 132MPH on the rev limiter in 5th gear and that cam (out of a ex-british rally car) still had more in it (limiter was 6700rpm). That was a fun little car. Tim
  23. I have to agree!! No mechanical experience......maybe you should tone down your aspirations a bit. Point of reference.....My Dad set the SA Land Speed record for road going vehicles ar 237MPH on a running 1 KM stretch with a Twin Turbo 427ci Trans am. The kind of gearing required to get that MPH automatically kills your 'streetable' index. Rethink your goals. Tim
  24. Jason, I have a gauge from a 73 if you need one. Tim
