  1. Getting old is certainly the proverbial b!tch, but certainly beats the alternative!!
  2. I am very happy with my insurance company. I do have a spotless record, and have all my cars (quite a few) and my house insured with them. My rates are extremely reasonable, and they really, really treated me nicely when I had the little rollback incident with the Z (agreed value coverage of $20k). I am with Farmers insurance.
  3. FWIW, just about every GM vehicle from 90s on had their PCMs mounted in the engine bay....from F-Bodies to trucks.....Don't think it's an issues as longs as (like Mob says above), it is not directly next to a major heat source....
  4. I spent a lot of time organizing my tool box....to no avail. I am terrible about putting tools back in their place, and opening every drawer to see what is missing is usually hopeless. I am planning to use my double decker tool box for only loose stuff, like sockets, allen wrenches etc, and I am going to mount a large 8'x12' section of peg board on the garage wall and mount all the wrenches, pliers etc etc on it and outline them (kinda hokey old school). That way I can see at a glance what is not put away..... When I am in the middle of a project, I usually have all the tools I have used that day on a table in the driveway. At the end of the day, I am too tired (er,,,lazy) to put them in the tool box, so they end up piled into my toolbag. ......the worst part is, I get soooo pissed when I spend 20 minutes walking around like a fart in the wind looking for a tool.....oh well....

  6. Mat, it's a video...patience grasshopper (it loads for a bit)
  7. You will need something "Custom". I was planning to do something like Terry (BlueOvalZ) did. He used a Prelude one (I think, iIrc), cut the ends off and welded some other tips one it, and ran it behind the diff. Maybe PM or email him for some tips.....otherwise, just run a big front and stiff springs....
  8. Very cool Rufus.....some major work there!!! No small job to be sure!!
  9. Looks to be not enough -ve camber.... What are your alignment specs?
  10. I have always thought that setting off a smoke pellet inside the car with all the windows closed and walk around and see where the smoke is coming out of the holes and gaslets in the car, and seal them up. Tim
  11. Nah...I'd rather be wrenching and smacking my knuckles on large, unusually sharp chunks of vehicle
  12. Damn...those guys beat the living crappola out of each other!!!
  13. Pete, Even with the solid driveshaft, it is almost impossible to get it 100% straight due to rubber mount settling, bolt hole shifting etc. I had my Z up to ~90MPH and never had the slightest vibration, and I know it wasn't perfectly straight, but I know it wasn't far outta whack....
  14. From my standpoint, although it is unnecessary to box it, I like the extra protection from flying rocks and stuff....
  15. Try calling the piston Companies directly: Ross Racing Pistons TRW Wiseco etc etc
  16. It is illegal to ever-ride, disable, or screw with emissions controls in any way. Editting the PCM would be considered tampering....big no-no in CA. Now I guess you could install the O2 sensors and edit the PCM, and just have the sensors in there as dummies, but you would still need to have the CATs in there for the visual, which then begs the question "Why disable the sensors if everything necessary for the system to work is present"? I asked that specific question, "Can't I edit the PCM, or buy O2 sensor simulators".....absolutely not. Tim
  17. As for function and feel, have not used LS1 Edit, so I cannot compare, however, IIRC, LS1 Edit is more expensive and is locked to only 1 VIN...
  18. The 96/7 PCMs are OBDII and are programmable on the fly....better than the OBDI version.
  19. I think the 850 is gonna make the engine lazy at lower RPMs.....
  20. It is all in the California Vehicle Code, the California Health and Safety Code, and the Highway Code (in that order).
  21. Look on my site for mine (although I have turned my cell around since). I just ran a tube from the top vent (-6AN at the top of the cell), looped it twice, then ran it down the side of the cell and placed it next to the cell outlets (venting to atmosphere). No valves or anything, never had an odor problem, or spillage problem either. Tim
  22. When I mocked mine up, I had my machinist build me a solid driveshaft (no universal joints). Then, I slid it into the tranny and lined everything up. A bit extreme, but leaves nothing to chance.
  23. Welcome to HZ. For a throttle linkage, you can get a nice new Lokar cable, or just get something from a JY vehicle. The first thing that you need to do is to change that Carb. 850CFM is entirely too large for a 350ci. A 650, or 700 will be much better. You can use the Datsun auto shifter, or get an aftemarket. Comes down to whether or not you got the $$, and whether or not you want to use all the forward gears. The Datsun one will only be able to select 3 of the 4 forward gears. Good luck....
  24. No...if the PCM is throwing an emissions based code, then something is wrong. Something wrong with emissions=CA no likey
