  1. John, What rwd toyotas are those from?
  2. I would bet that you will replacing the master cylinder, if not now, then pretty soon. You might as well get some new flexible brake lines too, as the old ones are likely rotten. Just bleed some new fuid to all 4 corners and it should be ok. Might as well just replace the master cylindr and the 4 flex lines now, instead of redoing everything later.....brakes are kinda important.....
  3. IF $$$ was no object, I wouldn't be building a Z car.... 8)
  4. What about the Conquest TSi 2.6L SOHC engine...any good? I seem to remember that they were very potent and had some good upgrade-ability? Are they reliability issue-prone?
  5. I have actually thought about that one. The reliability on those engines are great....bulletproof! Not super duper performance wise though.....but worth looking at....
  6. That's what makes the Ford 2.3 turbo so attractive....lot's of Thunderbird Turbo Coupes in the Junk Yards!! I know that that engine has a reputation for blowing head gaskets and cracked heads, but I think that with a good aftermarket gasket and some ARP studs, it will be good......
  7. Aren't the US spec 240SX motors pretty potent too?
  8. It would have to be RWD application and I can't think of any US market vehicle that is RWD with a 4 Cylinder any more....
  9. For the Opel GT: Here are the criteria: Locally (easily) available parts Size of engine (will need to be inline 4) reliability (for daily driver status) economical (for above reason) enough HP to make it at least mildy fun (remember the GT is only about 1900lbs) So here is my thinking: Thunderbird Turbo Coupe 2.3L turbo ------- or -------- Conquest turbo ------- or -------- 240sx (I don't claim to vaguely even know what engine designations there are) ------- or -------- leave the Opel 1.9L in as is, but change the Solex to Weber 32/36 (whicj I have) ------- or -------- Convert the Opel 1.9L to FI with MegaSquirt ------- or -------- ????????? Any other suggestions? The 2.3L turbo has been done, so I can get 'help' with that...the guy put in the engine, gearbox, rear end (shortened 6 inches, stock opel is very weak), and front spindles.... Basically, I'm looking for JY parts for this, so no JDM fancy schmancy stuff like SR20 turbos etc.... Tim
  10. I think that, although somewhat odd looking, it's bloody marvelous (and I mean that in the true meaning of the word)......pretty darn cool!!
  11. There are only 3 wires to the OBDI connector. Any OBDI car will have a connector like Guy says above. I got mine out of a cavalier in the knee panel to the left of the steering column. Tim
  12. I had a look around and couldn't figure out the problem. I was able to upload without a problem. Maybe email Dan and describe your issue. He doesn't visit the forum too often. Tim
  13. Make sure the Avatar that you want is the correct size, then on your 'Profile' page, paste the url of the avatar to the 'link to offsite' box. Tha avatar will have to be hosted on the net somewhere. Your HybridZ album is likely the easiest. Make sure you select the url address from the properties box after right clicking on the avatar picture. Tim
  14. Closest thing I can find is: 330545.....1973......350..........76cc chamber, 2.02/1.60

  16. Just get the Factory Service manual for your year donor vehicle and trace them out. It's not that hard. With my 73 Z and 94 LT1/T56, I rewired the entire car from scratch (including the addition of the new (Z28) engine harness) over two weekends. I'd rather spend time than money. Search the forums, there is enough info posted to get you going.
  17. John...that would work if I had all the cars in El Segundo...the two Opels are in Bellflower at my neighbors bodyshop, the 40 Chevy is in his driveway, the Datsun is in the garage, and the Z28 is in Chatsworth (currently using the Company Durango).....crazy old lady huh
  18. Oil pressure is much more important that fuel level, thus oil pressure is put where it is more visible....
  19. You have a OBDII DLC. The OBDI DLC only has 12 pinouts. I recommend that you find an earlier DLC....makes hooking up to tunercat easier.
  20. Well...less than an hour on each car and I was driving them around the yard of the bodyshop!!! The only thing I bought for them was 5 gal of gas each, and a set of points for the blue one's dizzy..... They need a good deal more work to get them road worthy, but it was really fun hearing them fire up and drive around!! Tim
  21. You need three wires to the DLC: 1: D30 (serial data) goes to "M" on the DLC 2: D20 goes to "B" on the DLC 3: "A" on the DLC goes to chassis ground That's it.... This is assuming that you are using an OBDI DLC. I got my DLC from a Cavalier as the harness did not have one.....
