  1. This will have to be a budget project, and I think that the TC engine can be done for next to nothing. SR20 will cost a bunch, plus parts and maintenance will be cheap as hell with the TC engine....
  2. Well...as some (or many) of you know...I've been looking for an Opel GT for years now, but they always seem to be getting very premium $$$, even the crappy ones! Well, found one in the local classifieds for $600, so I called the guy. To make a very long story short, he has 2 of them, so I bought both for $1100.00 One is 4 speed, blue, all original with a distributor problem (I think it just needs new points), the other is yellow, auto, and also has an electrical problem (no power from ign. switch, easy fix!!). Both are in fine shape with just some cleanup and small amopunt of body attention....floors are PERFECT as far as I could see. Pick them up tomorrow..... One will get a turbo coupe 2.3L turbo and auto, the other I may keep and do something radical with it, or put it on Ebay and make a couple of grand on it..... Will post some pics when I take some... WEll that make 8 vehicles now!!
  3. Damn I wasn't even an itch in my daddy's crotch yet!!! And Mike (ON3GO) calls me old!
  4. Jamie, Yes Earls makes adapters, but depending on your line size, it make 2 or 3 fittings to adapt it, due to the metric threads on the Walbro....
  5. Bryan....did you read my response to your other post? or do you not trust my comments? http://hybridz.org/nuke/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=36424&highlight= They are about the same size, so you would be able to use your existing bracket....
  6. Bryan, I would try two more things: Run 2 or three more grounds from the engine to the chassis - from the intake to body and from block to body Try running some seafoam through the injectors. NAPA carries it. It works REALLY well. My wife's volvo 850 was getting a bit sluggish, so I ran some seafoam through the intake (via the brake booster vacuum line with the motor running) and in the tank. Made a world of difference. Maybe run your tank down to about 5 gallons, and dump in 2/3 pint into it and run the rest through an intake vacuum. Tim

  8. Sweet conversion!!! What management system are you using? OEM computer or aftermarket? Keep us updated!
  9. It must so that we have a vehicle to steal motor mounts from for the JTR conversion
  10. Mike, Just take your pump, a piece of fuel line and go to Home Depot, or local hardware store and get a couple of brass fittings that are the right size. If I remember correctly, the pump needs 6mm metric threaded fittings, and the Z should need an 8mm nipple..... Tim
  11. Jon, While I agree with you, it is also kinda 'rude' to just say do a search to a newbie. We were all newbies at one point, and many are not BB savvy. I am hoping that we (admins) can set up a PM to go out whenever someone registers to make sure that they read the rules, and understand the search feature. But until then, sometimes it helps to be more friendly and give the poster a little info to start with.....but essentially you are correct....just about EVERY topic has been discussed ad-nauseum!
  12. Those are two easy repair areas.....but keep looking...I bet there is more!! It is fairly rare to find a 240 with no rust
  13. The thread was moved off the public forum for obvious reasons.....nothing good could have come from leaving it up...
  14. It's welding a 'bead' at the ends to provide a 'flange' for the silicone hoses to grip to....
  15. I emailed you a new password, and I logged in with your user name and that new password....did you get my email?
  16. Thieves Steal Engine From Woman's Mustang August 20, 2004 04:39 PM EDT BUNKER HILL, W.Va. - Julie Slye didn't know the engine of her Ford Mustang was being stolen until the thieves took the hood. Slye and her boyfriend had spent six years putting together the eight-cylinder custom engine, she said Thursday as she thumbed through a scrapbook filled with pictures of the 1989 Mustang's 5.0 block. She noticed something was amiss on Aug. 13 when she walked outside of her home. "That's when I noticed the hood was gone," Slye said. Slye estimates the parts to be worth about $2,500. But the "sentimental value" is worth much more, she said. "They stripped the whole thing down to the block," she said. "They just took everything." The only portions of the refinishing job not yet completed were a new hood and a paint job for the car, she said. Now she has a new hood, but she's decided not to go ahead with a paint job unless the engine is recovered. "I was just thinking why in the world would someone do this to my car?" she said. "I've heard of people breaking into cars and stealing radios, a wallet or a pocketbook, you know, but I've never heard of something like what happened to me." Slye has put up signs asking for anybody who has information about the heist to come forward. She also said she might consider an amnesty if the stolen parts are simply returned. "I just want my stuff back," she said. ---
  17. Better to be safe than sorry. The stock 280 pump will likely be OK as long as you don't run WOT for long, but a long term solution would be better. I have a 280ZX-Turbo pump that you are welcome to use. I don't know what the flow rate is on them, but maybe someone here will pipe in..... BTW...I've looked at the flow curve for the MSD pump and it is on the ragged edge of it's output for the LT1. IF you need a new pump anyways, get a Walbro 255lph pump, or I believe the V6 Toyota Pickup had a really nice Bosch external pump that has very good pressure and flow numbers. If your LT1 is putting out any more than stock HP, then upgrade to more than the MSD pump..... I also have a fuel pressure gauge that connects to the shraeder valve on the fuel rail....you can borrow it if you like....
  18. No excuses....rules and regs have been updated in all forums: http://hybridz.org/nuke/index.php?name=pnphpbb2&file=viewtopic&t=24170
  19. Get some aluminum line. It is nice and easy to bend and flare....
  20. Yes I got it!! Looks great!!! Will be a little while til I can use it...I am waiting for my Machinist to finish up converting my LT1 intake.....
  21. My first thought was to do a 3 rotor turbo, but then reality sunk in......
  22. Looking at the one currently running coversion with the Supra engine (not motor - that's electric), and the fact that alot of underdash wiring and boxes are required, and the kind of times that Scottie was running......Buick GN for sure!!!
