  1. My RB26 block had both holes for the dipstick placement. I removed the brass plug from the rearward hole, and moved it foward after taking the dipstick sleeve out of it, then tapped the brass plug into the foward hole. This left me with a rearward oil dipstick, vs the foward dipstick....
  2. Save it and use the front bell housing....
  3. Please keep in mind that I hijacked the Flash Options thread and started talking about Venus. Back to the orig subject.... I can't comment on how honorable Flash Options is.
  4. Thats the guys name I just delt with.... very courteous and answered my queries fast.
  5. Here is the auction from them I was refering to>> http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=010&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=200072095462&rd=1,1
  6. Wow.... pretty cool idea, but wouldn't that create a ton of back pressure...??
  7. I just received a real nice rb26 alternator from Venus auto in Calif. today. I thought mine was bad so I saw a Ebay auction for one for $30 +$20 shipping, so I emailed him and asked to sell me one outright, without Ebay, so he agreed, and I paypaled them the $50 on thurs., and just got it today.... I'd say thats pretty dam good service..... I'm in no way trying to say others have not had issues with Venus, but my experience has been A+ with them.
  8. Another NO NO is Osaka in Canada....
  9. Awesome!! I think it finally sunk into my thick scull...lol Thanks for the replys - joel
  10. Thanks for the great pic refernces guys!! I still don't get the part in that pic that shows 85 going to ground and 87 going to ground. So, would # 30 hook to the battery constant hot. And # 86 hook to a 12v switched power source And # 87 hook to the 12v + lead on the fuel pump So what would # 85 hook to from the relay, and 87a ?
  11. Ok vashonz, thank you very much for the diagram, its very helpfull. I'm still confused though. If I were hooking up a fuel pump to the relay shown above, where would the + wire of the fuel pump hook to, and where would the - wire from pump hook to?
  12. Hey guys, I'm looking for some simple help here. I'm installing a complete new 12 circuit harness in my Z tomorrow, from headlights to taillights.... What I need right now is to simply be shown how to wire up a auto relay. I bought 10 new 40a Bosch 5 blade relays, but don't know the basics to hooking one up. So if I were to for example want to wire a electric fuel pump to one, what wires go to which blades on the relay? I'd have to go outside a dig them out of the car, but for example, each terminal on the relay has a number on the spade connector. Can you tell me how to wire one up using the blade numbers please? BTW, I searched here but didn't see anything relavent> http://forums.hybridz.org/search.php?searchid=758588
  13. You've got to change it to -6 GMT in your settings.
  14. Sweet.... please keep me in the loop on this Kazu. I'm very intrested in your progress on this. Thank You - joel
  15. Thats the big secret Sean Morris has been keeping from everyone over on Freshalloy.... hehe
  16. The tops of the pistons have a odd shape to them, compared to the L series head combustion chambers.... Not sure, but that may be a reason.?
  17. Actually Stony, that trans I bought from you that got damaged, has long been "gone". I have purchased several since that time, re-selling one of them, then keeping the two I have. I also bought a couple Z32 trans, just to have for spare internals, and I even picked up a 88-89 Z31 turbo trans, which looks exactly like the rb25det trans. Thats another trans the internals are the same on...
  18. oh well.... even the best make mistakes... I have a spare RB25det trans, and a Z32 trans also, so what do I measure thats different? the splined shaft the clutch slides on??
  19. I have a R230 for sale. I sent you a PM, please check it for info.... joel
  20. Kazu, intrested to hear how this turned out.... j.
  21. I know we have a few more to add to this thread since it started....
  22. I thought of that so I unhooked the fan wiring and it does the same thing..... I can go out and start it up with a cold motor and it acts the same. I don't have another alt at the moment. Its got to be the way I don't have the sensing wire (brown plug) hooked up right..
  23. I am getting so aggravated.... I still can't figure out how to get this dam alt hooked up to where it holds a semi steady charge voltage, with out jumping up to 16, 17, 18v when I rev it. I've ended up unhooking everything on the alt but a large wire that I have going from the batt post on the alt, to the positive terminal on the batt, then to the starter. It charges this way, but is not allowing the internal reg to control the voltage when I rev it. I need some one to help me bypass the Z car wire harness, and tell me how to hook up a alt (hot wire style) directly to a battery where it will charge the battery, and have the internal reg work correctly. I'm pretty sure its the brown plug on the RB alt thats causing my trouble, as I believe thats the two wires in the brown plug that the alt uses to sense the voltage, and there for regulate it..... Can some body PLEASE help me figure this out. I need basically to wire this alt from scratch, w/o using any wires off the old externally regulated 74 harness..... Please, no guessing here. If you know for sure how to hook up a internal reg alt from scratch, PLEASE CHIME IN... thanks - joel
