  1. Funny thing is, I had a post this A.M. in this thread, asking the same exact thing about hooking up the rb alt. I wasn't 100% sure what to do with the T plug thats on the Z harness for the alt. I ended up splicing the brown plug off the rb lower harness onto my Z harness. I had so much junk stuff I deleted from the Z engine bay (shunt, voltage reg, seatbelt interlock, etc.) which left plenty of un used plugs and connectors hanging.... I just hooked up the rb alt using the Z harnesses connections, and the starter the same way. I hope to get power to the starter/ alt. just like if it were the Z parts. Since I'm using a Tec2 standalone ign, and all new electrical AutoMeter gauges, I should not have to much trouble getting the starter and the alt to work. The rest is all new rewire anyways. I'm soooo close to starting her up....
  2. Chris, what is the exact role this brown plug plays on the rb alt.? I just wired up my RB starter and alt using the stock 74 Z harness connectors. Everything seemed to be fairly easy, except I don't know what to do with the white T plug, left over on the Z harness that plugs into the Z alt. I assume the white T plug on the Z harness, for the Z alt. serves the same function as this brown plug (as shown in pic below) on the RB alt. harness? Do I need to even use it if I'm using all after market gauges (no volt meter)? Can you give me some guidance please... joel
  3. Their are quite a few of us L6 guys that have had their manifolds Jet Hot coated. It really depends on your total package as to what affect it will have on spool up.... On a total stock set up, I don't think you will notice much difference in spool up, but if your running a newer all ball bearing turbo, and tuned correctly, I'd bet you could feel the difference. It will, for sure, help to keep your under hood temps down. I noticed a drastic difference in radiant heat. Everything close to the turbo was even cooler... I can't see it affecting the O2 sensor... and yes, the cast iron can take the coating....
  4. Way to go Tim!!! thats one hellufa monster L6 motor you got going there.... And some claim its got to be a F54/ P90 to put out any serious power.... I say your N42/ N42 speaks for itself.... Lets hope that sweet custom T-5 holds up to that kind of punishment. I'm certain the R230/ KAAZ will hold up... I wish the heck there were some vid's to watch of you putting your foot to the floor in that beast...
  5. Great info and pics Terry. I wonder what, if any, strength issues there may be between the two designs??
  6. Like stated above.... put red lights on your car, other than rear tail lights/ brake lights, = expensive ticket....
  7. You made a major boo boo by closing the dispute. If I'm correct, you now have no recourse.... Thats why I use my Visa to pay thru paypal for everything on ebay. That way they will go to bat for you.... Good luck either way.... j. .
  8. I have a pair on my 76 2+2 z parts car. If you can use them, PM me and we can work out a fair price for me to send them to you this coming fri (24th Nov.).... let me know - joel
  9. I have never seen a set of diff stubs with that bolt arrangement. There always to the outboard side...
  10. Looks great!! I really like that color of the Z....
  11. I got one also. I finally received the replacement in good condition, in place of the first one that was damaged via Greyhound Bus Lines. I haven't got around to installing it yet, and I hope I can make it fit. After the trial fit on the first one, I'm truly concerned....
  12. I see Paulo gave up on the HybridZ buyers, but still wants to sell parts.... >> http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300050267142&fromMakeTrack=true
  13. *** As taken off Race Bread forums.... **** " heres the Gates serp belts part #'s ALT. & W/P # K040347 P/S #K040382 a/c #??? (Im not running a/c on my car) and you can get these at any local part store that carry Gates products.
  14. Wish I had some good info to give you, but I'm lost when it comes to the RB oem wiring.... Just keep pokin at it, you'll get it. Have you thought about trying RaceBread.com or Nico? There are quite a few guys on those boards that have the rb25 in their cars.... Anywayz... good luck to you. j.
  15. I think its a pretty dam cool Hybrid Z..... it beats scrapping your z if the front end gets munched...
  16. I used Walbro with the -8 fittings on both ends.... j.
  17. You should be fine with that mod. Just make sure the whole pick up arrangement is braced, and you will be ok. The 90 deg bend will have no effect, long as its not crimped... Most guys here that put the RB into the Zcar have to cut and braze together a new p/u, due to having a rear sump arrangement. I just went ahead with a custom alum pan, with a external p/u mod to solve my rear sump issue, but its not a must... In short, I'd say your idea will work out ok for you. j.
  18. Sounds like a darn good idea..... wonder why this hasn't been brought up before?? .
  19. Thats the money shot.... Looking Good Bartman!!
  20. Can you reload these pics please.... thanks - joel .
  21. Everything you just asked is right here, all you have to do is read it. Start by reading the stickies at the top of this RB section. There are just as many, if not more, of the same type LS1 info in the V8 sections. These questions are asked and answered already, just do yourself a favor and search. What you can't find, folks will be happy to help you find. Good luck and welcome to the best resource on the web....
  22. Water pump seal?? where is that? help me out here, as I'm close to starting mine up for the first time, and I don't want to go thru that issue....
