Personally... when I'm ready to do the install of my 4;11 clsd from the R32 GT-R I have, I will be just having the axle center bar's cut down on one end, then have the splined ball bearing race portion that's inside the inner cv's (I'll still be using 4 inner cv sets as needed), pinned and welded on the axle bar (to save on re-spline/ new shortened center bar's) on one end, then reassemble....
I have a pair of MMS R230 6 bolt companion flanges that fit the 280z stub axles, so this shouldn't be to gawd awfully expensive of a swap going this route....
