  1. I think the OSG head has us all overlooking something that will probably be far more useful to 99.5% of those of use on HBZ, and that's if one of those LSD's sitting back there was a 29 spline R200. That would be excellent.
  2. HUGE Improvement in the month or so you've had it
  3. Got'cha covered. http://forums.hybridz.org/showpost.php?p=683833&postcount=1
  4. Necroposting to bash FRAM. hmm. Excellent.
  5. Define "direct" I'm quite sure adding two more jugs may make it stick out a smidge.
  6. What happens when an immovable object and an unstoppable force battle? Stay tuned to find out!
  7. You don't go to college with them... That's just the tip of the iceberg.
  8. This man is 100% correct. Speaking from experience, even going into it negatively would be alright. There are a good number of 280's still floating around and as such it is definitely OK to shop around. And My Z doesn't hate rain! It hates all mannerisms of meteorological phenomena, let's not restrict it down to just rain.
  9. There were some pretty big changes after the T5. I highly doubt you'll be able to swap them. Never done it before though so I'm not 100%. Best bet is to be sure and re-tread the beast.
  10. Aw that's cute, was that left over from Paul's Honda Performance How-To?
  11. Update: No response from delta yet, Elgin says I should stay with the stock cam...pfft. I contacted Colt and recieved a response from the owner less than 24 hours later. A quick phone call states that he can take and inspect the cams free of charge and provide me with available profiles that I can grind the cams to. Given the 24 lobes he believes that the cost should be in the 4-500 dollar range which is substantially cheaper than the quotes I have been getting else where and less than half what a set from the fatherland would cost me. Goeff (the owner) is a great person to deal with and since he's never dealt with them before, he'd be doing the work on them. Great customer service, I'm happy to say. I'll probably be shipping him some cams in a few weeks to see what the prognosis will be
  12. I think I just hurt myself.
  13. I'm trying to expand my worldview! Sheesh. ...I mean I'm too poor to push a Speed six.
  14. He said he had a 240. I was going to give him the benefit of the doubt and say the RB25/26 is larger than the L24.
  15. Things to consider. 1: cost. Is importing a motor that may only add 1-200cc's over the stock motor (subtract from available L28) worth the substantial wad of cash it's going to take to get it here 2: parts. How much will you drive it? Can you afford to wait for parts 3: Power potential, For all this work you're going to fab, is it worth the extra work over say an L28 et for whatever reason you chose? 4: Weight. A 240Z is a light car, is balance and total weight worth the weight of an engine that, depending on choice, may be quite heavy (I'm looking at you toyota). I took all of these into account and did the only logical choice in my mind... I got a Mercedes. ...But in all seriousness, as much as it pains me to admit it, I'd say 2JZ simply due to it's availability as a USDM motor.
  16. Excellent stuff. I emailed Colt, Elgin, and Delta. We'll see what they say! I'm pretty excited to try and mock this beast up over turkey day.
  17. Datsun 620... It's hard to beat this little guy for cool... Even a bunch of your L series parts will fit on this little dude, though they're 4bangers. They get great mileage however.
  18. Oh don't you worry none, they're nuts. That said, they have big heavy cars and big heavy cars need bigger heavier engines. I'm just reaping the benfits (with my dinky little Japanese car) of the removal of very capable I6's to go to much larger capacity engines with many many more cylinders .
  19. Ja, Ich spreche ein bischen Deutsch, und ich habe ein paar deutsche Unternehmen untersucht. However, the cost of the cams (the highest duration I've seen is 268 with about .385 lift) would be more than the rest of my project alone! I'm looking for some options stateside though.
  20. Thanks a ton PA, you've really got some good MB connections that have been a huge help in these shenanigans. We're working on that. I'd like to find a cam guy that kinda sorta knows his way around the motor maybe a little bit.
  21. Still looking for cams that are capable of scaring small children and making your average hippie have nightmares... That said, come turkey day, the ol' gal gets measured up and prepped to go under the knife...
  22. That would be an instant win, had that specimen been spotted whilst I was mullet hunting. Thank God for Canada.... Never thought I'd say that.
  23. Which 280ZX transmission are you talking about? The T5 in the zx and the T5 in the Z31 have interchangeable shifters.
