They have some good videos. If you send them your carbs, from what I've heard you get them better than new back, plus I think the video is included. I will be doing this soon myself.
Mine run good but look hideous and the car they are going on is in nice shape.
I had a similar problem in my jeep. I ended up jacking the motor up and using a come along to pull the engine into place. Worked like a charm.
Come along = that thing that ratchets with two hooks on each end. Not sure if that is the correct name.
I may have a line on one of these but not sure what they are worth. Checked ebay, nothing, and checked collector car trader, nothing either.
Supposedly looks similar to this, in mostly original condition and runs.
Thoughts?
I'm shocked it ran. You just replaced the gas? What about the fuel filter? Clean the tank?
I was always under the impression that fresh gas would clean off old gummed up gas and create problems.
I'm also shocked it ran without a battery in it just from boosting it. When it ran good you never had the battery in the car ever? Just boosted?
You should have said yes, then when it's not there anymore say you totaled it that night. Make up some crazy story how you were running from the cops.
Sorry, my neighbors are nosey little PITA!
I've owned Older Snapper mowers both rider and push and wouldn't buy any other kind. The olders ones especially are very bullet proof and easy to work on.
I had a problem with a Cheap thermostat housing I refussed to let die.
I ended up drilling the aluminium around the stud and all of it fell out including the easy out. The hole ended up being 7/16 but it worked.
If I decide to dump the 45 SKs for simplicity of finding a parts source and go w/ Webers, do I want 40's or 45's. As far as performance goes what kind of differences am I looking at?
Ouch. I would think you would need only to do those 2 valves at the most. Why the whole head rebuild? even the piston may be savable with a little grinding no? A few marks shouldn't hurt performance that bad.
Thanks Tony!
The car ran horribly when I got it home. The previous owner told me they needed to be rebuilt/cleaned based on the sitting. You can really smell the old gas and see the gumming of old gas.
From searching for SK's here on the forum i've found little. It appears SK is out of business. Any links for rebuilding them?
