  1. So the tank just failed? That is amazing.
  2. I'll second that! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ .... Happy New Year all!
  3. I'm not sure if Trans plate cover is the right word, I recall calling it something else but I'm feeling dumb tonight. Is there a difference in the transplate between a T5 and a ZX 5 speed? I'd rather not pull the fly wheel if I don't have to. Similar to this:
  4. Miami, not mine, just saw it. http://miami.craigslist.org/mdc/cto/2760538497.html
  5. I'm saying this all in fun, but that was a "proper" burnout? The only proper burnout is for the track. The rest is just look at me ruin my tires because mommy didn't pay enough attention to me when I was little. Sorry couldn't resist and no accusations intended!
  6. So after reading different post on the Snider cam failures and knowing this car had one, before I started to put her back together I figured I would check. The results were'nt pretty. Almost every lobe had some wear I was going to throw a turbo on this NA block anyway and play some. I guess now I'm pulling a motor. Who knows how much metal shavings are in the motor. Good thing I have a spare turbo motor I can swap in!
  7. Very nice, color is exceptional on the Z. Very rich and classy looking.
  8. Nice, it's a good motivator for me. I've been really slacking.
  9. My reasoning is in the pic itself you posted. Who is looking at the other newer Z's, no one. They're looking at that ugly flat black S30! I drive a stock 78 around with dents and holes I can put my fist through. You may glance at an A6 or the like, but people will almost always stop and tell you some cool story about an old Z. I drive it just like this minus the bumpers:
  10. If you simply accept the forum is NOT a democracy you will get along wonderfully here!
  11. Your'e looking for Turbo 280zx axles which are 6 bolt or 300zx turbo axles which are 4 bolt? Or you truely looking for NA 280zx or 300zx axles?
  12. You can buy them brand new for pretty cheap in my opinion. http://www.blackdragonauto.com/icatalog/zr/full.aspx?Page=62
  13. I'm assuming the new car your referring to is a new Z to you, that you just picked up? Otherwise this is very difficult to understand what your talking about.
  14. In FL I don't think you would have any problem getting 2K for that clean of a car. Use this tool to search CL in CA. http://www.cheapcarfinds.com/ Love this little tool. Like this thing could not be worth 1K: http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/2700717162.html
  15. The cap only goes on one way. If the rotor is correct and the cap is correct, don't worry about the dot. Just read the FSM. It is your best friend. http://www.xenons130.com/reference.html
  16. Not to be pedantic, but how is this Z related?
  17. John, not tyring to go against the grain, but re-reading the rules it doesn't really say much of what can't be discussed in the non-tech section? However, being a technical site, is the expectation of the non-technical section to be, "Isn't that a pretty Z..., or do you like my new Z wheels"; Z related only?
  18. Download the FSM. Page EM-20. BTW, this is from an 1982, but should be the same as an 83.
  19. Hey Meph, what kind of Computer were you running it on? When you say reset, it would wipe all your settings? Did you get another E6K? Was it these 3 of the flying lead portion of the harness?
  20. I'm looking at a used Haltech E6K for $275 locally. Can I simply apply +12 volts to what I'm assuming is a Main power source and the switched power source and see if I can connect and read the haltech without any sensors hooked up? Is there any other way or is it simply a $275 gamble?
  21. I'm with you not against you. I do my best to no longer abuse the law. I finally grew up some, man that was hard. Fortuneatly, I have a little more money now and I just go to court. It is quite entertaining to watch some of the cases too.
  22. As the law goes, ignorance is no excuse, that aside I think his point is a little grace could have been win, win situation. An uninformed motorist could have been simply warned / educated, officer respect would have remained intact and no harm to ones pocket book. If revenue generation from the ticket is not really the issue as it is so often claimed, then why the ticket? It wasn't willful disobedience with mal-intent, it was just a mistake. I'd wager to say anyone with the least bit of common sense would go through the weigh station after being pulled over. I know not always. In our litigious society signs are everywhere. They built a new road by our house and the signs are everywhere. We counted 50 in the ½ mile of road they just laid. It was so bad that it was annoying. Granted, being an officer is tough job, however, it's still a choice. They could always do something else. My personal opinion is a lot of people get into law enforcement because they get off on the control aspect of others. Just an opinion though.
  23. It's goofy what happens. On the news here a woman got a ticket because she used her horn to basically scold a cop who was on his laptop and driving. I've just learned to keep my mouth shut and say yes sir, no sir. Women cops scare me to death.
