  1. Deja dont you have a 2+2, could you post some pics with the rear bumper on it you have one?
  2. Yeah now that I think about it it was his car. Im guessing the Skylines were close to the same width in the back?
  3. Not dealing with a Z but just shows that new non performance cars can go really fast and still be stable. In the latest Car and Driver a man was caught doing 147 mph in a Hyndai Sonata, in the picture it looks like hes doing nothing out of the ordinary, just driving down the highway. I think what drives Z owners to customize their Z isnt the fact that you can put some huge motor in it and make it go fast, you can do that to any car. Its more of the nastalgia and knowing that you have a part in history of Datsun. If you want a fast car that you can drive hard and put away wet get a new car. To me the reason I have my Z is once I get it on the road, maintaining it and needing to take better car of it then a new car will be the fun. Knowing that I need to take care of it and knowing Ill know every nut and bolt makes it fun to own.
  4. Heres another picture. I dont remember whos car it is.
  5. It was commented on putting the FG 240 bumpers on a 280 and this is a picture I had drawn up for a similar thread. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=114735&highlight=fiberglass+bumpers
  6. Id suggest everybody to get a battery cutoff switch under your seat or somewhere hidden so If someone breaks in they cant take off with the car. Glad to hear you got it back. Now youll have to deal with the wonderful insurance agents.
  7. Will the stock computer work with a custom manifold? Would you have to move to standalone?
  8. Thats 240hokes car and I PM him and he said it was Spectra Blue. Thats what I dont like there arent enough 2+2's to compare colors.
  9. I dont think I could go 0n If was to crash my Z. PROXLAMUS0- How did you reapair the rear end? Justin Olsen- Im guessing you slid into a pole?
  10. Wonder why you picked that????? I found this picture and Im pretty sure If I choose Blue Id go with this color. I PM the guy for the name of the color.
  11. Why do they call it Pinks All Out if your not racing for Pinks? How many different Z's do you have that you race?
  12. Where would the filler hole be on the tank. It would have to be closer to the edge and in the middle so the neck could go strait back to the license plate. A friend of mine has a 67 mustang and it has the filler at the back. Ill have to go look at it and see what the tank looks like on his.
  13. I was really just trying to sound smart. But it does change how the Interoir is pressurized. All new cars have vents like these some have them inside of the rear plastic bumpers. These have flaps that when you shut a door get pushed open with the incresed pressure which lets air out.
  14. It ofsetts the perfect pressurization equilibrium in the Z's cabin..... Itll be harder to close doors or the hatch and Im guessing some issues with the A/C or fan when theyre on?
  15. Yeah we can always use money. Sound like Itll be a fun motor. Right now Im trying to save up for body work. We met a retired man the restores cars and he is willing to let me come out this summer and Ill pay him for the more technical stuff I cant do and Ill help with the grunt work that makes redoing body work expensive. Currently I need $373.14. Im hoping to get that by mid june when school gets out!
  16. What kind of Camaros and Mustangs would have the right tank? I dont want paint my car and then If I put in a filler from the back then smooth out the original fuel door. The other reason was I wanted to do dual exhaust also. Id need a tank that could sit in the middle (let exhaust go by on each side) and have the filler in the middle of the tank to route the filler neck from behind the license plate. Everything would have to be pretty cheap because my dad is trying to stray me away from changing much and is wanting me to just finish it. I can only finish it once Im Id like to make it how I like it the first time.
  17. Thats one thing I noticed also. The really dark tint makes the 2+2 look alot different for the good. Garvice the original color looks good but a little old fashion for me. It shows that the guys painting his 2+2 midnight blue and thats the one of the colors I was considering. It says hes swapping a buick 3.8l V6 I was down for the blue but Id stay with the L6 rather then a buick 3.8 v6.
  18. Did you take the screw out of the back and bleed the air? Try pushing it in all the way and then tilting it so the top part of the bracket goes in. Then lift it up so the bottom half can go in too.
  19. Looks fantastic! What kind of car is to the left of the porsche in the garage? What did Porsche use for the rocker panel coating?
  20. I wonder if he'll still put it in. How much was that gonna cost you? What guage steel is the roof on a 280z?
  21. Definetly my car had one when I bought it and it had leaked and rusted and caused all the headliner to fall out. Im not sure what Im going to do but I might just permanetly seal mine up with metal. Thats another thing, your roof looses its strength. My roof is like a piece of paper with the sunroof out, and Im sure it isnt much stronger with it in. Anyone ever patched a roof?
  22. You are quite lucky. I bought my car when I was 11 with my dad and we both had no idea what we were getting into. When I first got the car Id stick my hand down in the rocker panel cause I thought it was cool that I could do it. On the bumper struts, Is it legal to remove the bumpers and drive it in Cal. or is this your autoX car?
  23. Aziza were you able to completely fill the crack between the headlight bucket and the fender? Was it only one layer of weld all around?
  24. To bad there isnt more love from MSA and BlackDragon for 2+2 parts. Whats everybodys opinion on color? What you guys think would look better? (two colors I listed above in my other post)
  25. I had to drop the tank down to remove the right side shock. And also there was rust below the hole it stuck out of and so I cut that out and was able to lower it down with some work. As for the holes Id just weld in a piece from the inside and bondo over it. My rear end is pretty rusty and cut up so Im considering to just try and replace the hole rear panel so its all smooth.
