  1. What shuts off at random times? I can only reccomend that you narrow it down to one car, be it one of your cars or this 240z. I dont know what your financial position is (parents give you money, you have to work for it) but I just turned 16 and working on my car has been kinda hard if I needed to buy a part. Narrowing it down to one car will focus all your energy and money into making one good car. If I were you Id mabey sell 2 of your cars and put the money into the 3rd car or save it and then save up more money for the turbo 240 if it was really important to you. Just the biggest thing I can enforce is to stay focused on one thing and keep at it. Mabey you could get some pictures of this 240.
  2. Well he now knows never to trust anyone completely. It sounded like he didnt have that great of a relationship with his dad. Wonder what happens when his dad figures out a NARP isnt a real part.
  3. I looked at an old original photo of my car and theyre isnt a right side mirror. I dont know why but there isnt. BubbleGuinea- As you probably read on the last page, Ive been trying to figure out a way to incorporate a rollbar into a 2+2 while keeping the back accesible and the back seat still able to fold down. I dont have a car thats together to go look at and get measurements or I would be out theyre now trying to find a solution, so Ill have to rely on others ideas till my car is finished.
  4. They look terrible, so terrible you need to throw them in a box and mail them to me for proper disposal.
  5. Whats "FD" and then "series 6+" stand for? My seats are shot and I dont have money for new ones. Im gonna check the local junkyard for some RX-7's once I fighure out what they mean. Ill have some interior picture in about 6 months.
  6. I would have liked to do the same on the bumpers but I didnt have all the equipment to properly make bumpers like yours. I went the easy way and got fiberglass ones. Will the new grill go behind the bumper and stop or how far below the bumper will it go?
  7. Yeah the 10,000 dollar machine is quite a benefit when you only pay a 15 dollar shop fee. What kind of bumpers do you have?
  8. I dont have one so Im not able to try it but couldnt you pull down the ends of the air dam and then bolt it on. If yours is what they all look like it might be possible to get it to fit flush? It looks like if you did this the contour of the air dam would be closer to that of the 280.
  9. Looks great youll have to sandblast it then powdercoat it. Im hoping to take 2nd semester metals next year so Ill have access to a computerized plasma cutter. Im gonna try to make a grill like that but with about 1/8 inch steel plate pieces that have slots so they can slide together and then be welded up.
  10. My bad:malebitch, I guess the the 280 lower valance doesnt stick out as far as the 240 and 260.
  11. I shadowed at a body shop and the part would look perfect then theyd prime it and it would look horrible. Theyd go through this a bunch of times and sooner or later it would be perfect. What did everbody use to get theyre headlight buckets smooth and strait(inside of buckets/edges)?
  12. Bumper override bar or the air dam? The air dam should fit on a 280 because the front ends are virtually the same. Youd have to call them.
  13. What kind of filler neck would you use to route it out the back? I dont have a fuel cell so I couldnt see what it would look like and where it would come out of the fuel cell. Ill atleast start by getting the hinge part. Thanks for the feedback.
  14. So the rim bent? Im not getting what exactly happened. Did the wheel hit the chassis or the ground hit the chassis?
  15. I wouldnt take the tank, Id only take off the hinge. I guess Ill have to make a trip to the JY to see what they have.
  16. Well I didnt think about folding the seats down when I thought about bucket rear seats. Id still like to fold them.
  17. Did any of the studs break? If not you might not have had them on all the way or tightened completely. Its amazing what vibration can do to bolts. They can seem tight and theyll just shake loose. Id guess that it would have fallen onto the brake rotor so the brake rotor could have bent or is now wedged on the studs from all the pressure. How fast were you going when it "flew off"? Was the front valance smashed too?
  18. Today I was looking at our Pontiac Pirresian that we inherited from my grandma and the rear license plate flips down to reveal the gas filler. Anyone ever done this or know of any other cars that I could pull one off at a junkyard. I know the Caprice is the equivelant to the Perisian but Im not sure if it would have the gas filler in the same spot. I know youd have to reroute the filler neck to the back and it would have to come through part of the interior but Im planning on some kind of fuel cell and you could make some kind of cover for the tube so that wouldnt be a problem. If it wasnt my dads car Id pull it off and use it on the Z. Thanks
  19. I know it would be kinda scary to get in a car accident but you gotta think that they have all sorts of cameras on traffic lights and security cameras and if you run odds are youll get caught. What an idiot.
  20. When I first got my car I was 11 my mom or dad drove it and Id be the first to get put in the back if any other person was in the car. I did find it cramped then, but recently when I had the rear seats in it wasnt terrible (im 6ft). Might not be confy but its enough to get 3 of my friends around. Also you have any ideas for a 2+2 rollbar or mounting spots for a racing harness? Id like to keep my back seats assesable but would like a rollbar for strength and mounting points.
  21. What guage metal were you using for the section you added? Im guessing the inside would have to be a little thicker for strength? And also did you just add metal to the top or was the bottom lengthened also. I know how you feel Ive had my Z for 5 years and the furthest Ive driven it is across the street in the school parkinglot. Im old enough for my license but it was either 160 dollars out to insurance or to my car. Now its apart waiting body and paint work so Ill just have to wait till the the end of summer to drive it, mabey, hopefully....
  22. I havent even started body work and Im already pissed off at it. Any of you use powdered aluminum in theyre fg? Ive heard it used on boats but nothing about cars.
  23. Is your enterior the original? The front seats look that way but the back look newer. My car was a show car at the Spokane International Auto show is 78 so it has all sorts of weird "special" items on it and this ugly gold front and rear seats. I would like to replace the front with a racing style seat, and the back Id like to reuploster but Ive been also thinking of some kind of new small bucket seat. Any ideas on what you could put in the back? Also does anyone have a rollbar in theyre 2+2?
  24. Looks great and probably very exciting. I still have my first car and hope I can keep it for as long as I possibly can. I bought it when I was 11 and it still isnt done!!
  25. I have to say I highly doubt it works on a stock motor that hasnt had any increase in the runner size or port size. Water in a hose will only flow as fast as the smallest part (runner/port). Mabey Im wrong......
