I read this cover-to-cover for 6 months before buying any cars, donors, or parts. It addresses many details of doing a Chevy V8 swap, and has a chapter on automatic transmissions. You will save the purchase price by not making mistakes, re-calibrating the tachometer yourself, etc.
I can't tell if it has the mechanical advance as well as the vacuum.
but,
+1 That is half the cost of a Pertronix conversion and a pre-1974 stock distributor.
+2 Cap and rotor appear to be stock pieces that are easy to replace.
+3 Oversized steel shaft & Ball bearings
Specifically the E04D in a E150, 2WD, 5.8L V8.
I'm searching because Parts interchange lists show different transmissions for the 87-94 then 95-96.
- what would prevent me putting the 1995 trans in a 1994 vehicle? TCM or wiring change? Internal trans change?
I'm guessing English is not his mother tongue. I liked his answer to the Cougar question.

You're making me nostalgic.
I have some of Bill Keane's (Family Circus) artwork that shows what the character of Scottsdale's buildings and plazas looked like in the 1950's and 1960's. Guess that was before the population boom.
I used to love going to "Downtown" Scottsdale in the 1970's for shopping with my mom, lunch at the Sugar Bowl, or a visit to the "BIG" library. Later I commuted daily thru the downtown arteries on my way to ASU. You might see traditional old western boots and tack store fronts, and a Frank Lloyd Wright design in the next block.
As a young adult I attended city council meetings - another great reason to go downtown.
25 years later, fond memories, probably would not recognize much there now.

$250 for the basic model. You also need a 7cfm 80psi compressor.
It won't be long before Harbor Freight has them for $99...
I'm on my 2nd 5-speed transmission as well. It's a rebuild. I can attest the first was abused - teaching my daughter to drive a stick shift. But that was at 175,000.
