  1. Sorry if I get on a sociological rant, but I love to remind people of this - and more - how about VELCRO? MYLAR? cordless power tools... - when they complain theat we, the people, allocate too much money in space. I assure you, not one cent was spent in space. NASA's money pays the salaries of hard working physicists, doctors, scientists, floor sweepers, and ditch diggers.
  2. Are you any good at a CAD or Drawing software package? You could draw up a few cross sections of the assorted rotor dimensions that you have found, and your bracket, and do a "virtual" assembly. I love Appleworks for drawing on the MAC for stuff like that. Once I knocked out an entire deck framing design one Sunday morning and the building inspector signed it Monday..... sorry wandered off there. You may have to get you hands on an actual rear brake caliper to get its offset, hey I have been known to walk through the p-n-p with a caliper, pen, notepad and tools and not buy anything, but left with what I went for. Here is a gimmee: the distance between the bracket flange on the rear strut and the outside edge of the stub axle (where the rotor sits) is 46mm.
  3. Early 280ZX (79-81) has that huge "sheet metal" rear caliper, and requires a deeper "hat" section of the rotor. for example Brembo PN 25110 Overall Diameter: 269.0, Minimum Thickness: 8.6, Height: 68.5 Later 280ZX (82-83) has a smaller cast iron rear caliper, and uses a shallower "hat" section of the rotor. for example Brembo PN 25111 Overall Diameter: 258.0, Minimum Thickness: 9.0, Height: 47.0 for the 84-86 300ZX: (N/A produced before 8/1985) Brembo PN 25138 Overall Diameter: 290.0, Minimum Thickness: 9.0, Height: 47.0 found it here: http://www.autopartswarehouse.com
  4. I saw this ad in the newspaper today: Free report - Hidden Inside Secrets Insurance Companies Don't Want You To Know About Your Injury Claim 1-800-368-6495 ext 4114 Knowledge is power! You might want to read up on how the scammers/liars/lawyers are operating.
  5. Good luck Gollum, we hope your 280ZX turns up unscathed. I vote for a security system thread.
  6. Whoa! Serious overspray!! I wonder if there is a basin in the floor to reclaim those chemicals?
  7. How about an MGB? Whatever this lad is holding - this starter is on the left side:
  8. I would measure the driveshaft ends carefully before buying it. You want to use 1310 u-joints that fit the JTR differential flange adaptor: 1310 – 3 3/16" wide 1 1/16” diameter cap. The C20 Suburban 3-piece rear driveshaft uses 3011, 1330, or 1350 u-joints. 3011 - Clip to Clip 2 3/8" 1 1/8" Cap diameter 1330 - 3 5/8” wide 1 1/16 diameter caps 1350 - 3 5/8” x 1 3/16 diam Cap The driveshaft yokes are probably wider and the holes larger diameter than the 1310 u-joint. You might be able to run a 1330 front and a 1330/1310 adaptor (Google Jeep/Ford Bastard)
  9. Egads! I don't think he used any fiberglass! Just Bondo over the foam, unless there are random hairs in the blue/green putty. Imagine leaving it out in a freezing rain, and the body swells up like a sponge.

  12. 460 BBF witha C6 in a Pinto was a fairly frequent swap inthe 1980's. It was documented in Car Craft, I recall them using the 8" rear axle from a V8/V6 Mustang II. There is a 302/351/429/460 Pinto swap "manual" being sold for $10 on EBAY that addresses how to fabricate motor mounts, cooling system, electrical, and drivehaft angles for racing. Sort of a JTR lite.

  16. I thought the Z was Kari's driver ..... I don't think they beat on the Z car too badly. The purpose of the experiment was to see how fast a Hot Wheels car could run before axles break and plastic wheels melt etc., so they made up a little fixture to allow the toy car to roll atop the spinning Z tire, which we all know is tied to a finely calibrated speedometer. (1024 rev/mile).
