  1. How to Check Your Tachometer A 120 Vac 60 Hz battery charger puts out an imperfect DC voltage. It is actually a pulsating DC voltage that corresponds to 1800 rpm for an 8 cylinder, 2400 for a 6 cylinder 3600 for a 4 cylinder When hooked it up to a V-8 tach's input (+ve to tach +ve and -ve to gnd), it shows exactly 1800 rpm. The technical theory goes like this. The battery charger doesn't put out a DC signal, it is a 120 Hz full rectified waveform. When a battery charger is connected to a battery, the battery acts like a huge capacitor and smoothes out the waveform (simple explanation). Here's the math: 120 Hz = 120 cycles/sec 120 cycles/sec * 60 = 7200 cycles/min There are 8 cylinders, so 7200 / 8 = 900 cycles/min but it is a 4 stroke engine which only fires on 1 firing stroke (combustion) It fires once every 2 cycles So 900 cycles/min *( 4 strokes/1 firing stroke) * (1 firing stroke/2 cycles) = 1800 cycles/min or 1800 rpm
  2. "CLUTCH FORK BOOT" Look at Black Dragon's catalog, page 84, cost: $6.00
  3. The Local hot rodders, rat rodders, low riders, custom imports, some bikes, etc. have a cruise-in Friday nights at the parking lot around Burky's, a hamburger & hotdog place. It's on Kings Hiway (17) and 39th ave. N.
  4. Sort of like when I'm channel surfing and I'll pause to watch Chris Rock for a few moments.
  5. I've been using one of these for a couple of winters in my DD. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=96144 Because the stock heater doesn't heat, It'll clear a frosty windshield, but doesn't heat the cabin much when it's below 40 F.
  6. Yes, they are. '79-'81 are "sheet metal" and use a deeper rotor, '82-'83 are cast iron and use a shallower rotor.
  7. I asked my wife what she wanted for her birthday. "A divorce." She said. I said, "I wasn't thinking of spending that much."
  8. No. The ROTOR spacer does not change the hub face at all from its stock position, relative to the caliper. This spacer pushes the rotor "back" or "inboard". If you need clearance "outboard" from the caliper, then you need to look at WHEEL spacers.
  9. You could order the installaton manual from Reaction Research, http://www.reactionresearch.com/ordering.html it will give you a good idea of the amount of labor involved. But, as Speed said, you don't have a Velo Rossa kit, so it might not answer every aspect of the build.
  10. Lots of good generic info, in the vintage Ford (Bronco, F-Truck, Mercury, Mustang) and Volvos!, Mazdas!.... http://www.broncofix.com/viewtopic.php?t=261589 http://www.crazyformercurys.com/5_0_swap_tech.htm http://midnightdsigns.com/Mustang/EFI%20Swap%20-%20Wiring.htm http://www.converseengineering.com/customerbuilt.htm http://www.ddilts.net/mustangs/dan_marlowe/efi_conv.htm http://www.engineswaps.com/ http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=45309 http://77cj.littlekeylime.com/5_0l_wiring.html http://fordfuelinjection.com/ http://www.geocities.com/infieldg/v8injection.html http://www.veryuseful.com/mustang/tech/engine/ http://www.v8rx7forum.com/
  11. Ideally, the angles between the crank / transmission output shaft and driveshaft, and between the driveshaft and the differential pinion will be equal and opposite.
  12. I can fix this....my dad's a TV repair man.......he's got a ton or tools!
  13. Borrowed from Dad: 1960 Ford Falcon Ranchero. 170 ci stright 6, 1bbl, 3-on-the-tree, rubber floor mats, bench seat, power assisted nothing. Took the tubes in the AM radio about 1 minute to warm up, but the extra heat was nice in the winter. Drove it to work about 6 months while I saved up for new tires for the Mustang. Dad was thrilled to get it back until my sister started driving, so he swapped an automatic trans for her. Owned by me: 1966 Ford Mustang. 289 V8, 4bbl, 4 speed toploader, A/C, drum brakes, owned since 1979, still drive it, probably had every nut & bolt on and off at some point, still going. Biggest expense: INSURANCE over 30 years has cost 60X the original purchase price.
  14. I tried "Gray" in "23150" because my neighbor is a nut. I see he bought a grizzly bear trap, guess that confirms it.
  15. Like a Fluidamper for driveshafts.... http://www.balancemasters.com/driveshafts/index.html I'm not sure about a poisonous metal spinning at 4000 rpm
  16. Q: Why did Michael Jackson hurry to the sale at K-Mart? A: He read that little boys' pants were half-off.
