I have been looking into a Z31 - SB Ford swap as well. Since mine is a '84 I will have to swap in a SEFI engine with all the smog goodies, O2 sensors, Cats. The good part is it already has an in-tank fuel pump and return line. I have looked at Non-Fox body (Grand Marquis, Crown Vic, Lincoln Town Car, F-150.... ) donor 5.0L engines because all the serpentine-driven accessories are in the right positions for the 300ZX engine bay. The A/C compressor and power steering is on the left and the alternator and AIR pump are on the right. On Mustangs the A/C and alternator are reversed. Also their air intake and MAF sensor are on the left, like the 300ZX. On Mustang, Thunderbird, Lincon MK VIII LSC 5.0Ls it's on the right. So I guess a stock H.O. is out for me unless you can swap the brackets and intake from a Lincoln onto a Mustang H.O. block. Hood clearance is a big issue with me. I don't think a cowl scoop hood would look right on a 300ZX. Someone has posted that '94-'95 Mustang and Explorer upper intakes are shorter. I really like AlSil's engine mount design and will probably build something similar. Steering linkage routing and header choice will influence the size and shape.

It would take 2 adaptors: The John's Cars (Quarter shift) Jag engine to Chevy TH-xxx trans adaptor, followed by The Kennedy Engineered Products Chevy engine to Toronado TH-425 transaxle adaptor. And a converter spacer, and some really long bolts.

Nope. Harbor Freight sells a PIPE bender, Roll cages and exhausts are made of steel TUBE. PIPE and TUBE are different materials, the geometry of the machines to bend them are different. http://www.oceanmachinery.com/how-to-bend-pipe-and-tube.htm

As long as society tolerates it, he will continue to behave this way. He is a "victim", remember.

Thanx Terry. That made my day.

I'd had nothing but good experiences buy and selling on ebay - 25+ deals in 3 years, mostly car parts, mostly $50 or less. The absolute best was buying a very rare 60-year-old John Deere tractor accessory, having it shipped to my dad in Arizona, and watching him open it at Christmas. When the big screen TV scam was in the news last Summer, I kept telling my co-workers how honest the "old car parts people" were. I'm venting because I paid a guy $21 ($1 bid for the part, $20 for shipping!) back in November. After 2 equiries he writes back that he hasn't shipped my package because he has not been paid. Paypal AND EBAY tell me otherwise. Grrrrr. Maybe I should always read the feedback - 12 out of 20 in the last 6 months had similar complaints..... Neutral : slow shipping Neutral : Took a while, but received the item Complaint : Payed him double the bid ammount, item yet to be delivered. Complaint : TOOK MY MONEY AND DIDN'T SEND ANYTHING OR ANSWER EMAILS JUST RIPPED ME OFF Oh well, just when I was beginning to trust people.

Trevor replied to ecp48's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Tell him its Japanese. -
I know the TH-350s (2 wheel drive, RWD) come in 2 flavors with a 6" tailshaft, or 9" tailshaft. Anyone know what the TH-700 has? long, short, or both?

Hold the buttons on mine. I'm on a notions-free diet.

The trick might be finding the right hubs.. Something like this (these are 5-bolt for Daytons).

Electronic Ignition ??? for V-8 Conversion
Trevor replied to a topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Anyone have any advice on the Pertronix, or other, conversion. I need to replace my HEI with a smaller distributor cap (pre '74?, remote coil?) when I convert my intake to a multi-carb setup. -
Ha ha ha. Did a Google on "Steam Catapult" Here's all the math you need to answer airplane questions.... http://216.239.41.104/search?q=cache:Nk7Q-q-OvxYJ:pumas.jpl.nasa.gov/PDF_Examples/03_23_02_1.pdf+aircraft+carrier+steam+launch&hl=en&ie=UTF-8 Just substitute the F-18's figure for "lift" to 240Z "downforce". Here is one for sale: http://www.frenchcreekboatsales.com/details.asp?File_Number=BOP12 Any volunteers? Group buy?

I have a spare ECU that came with my '84 300ZXT Should I keep it? Do they go bad that often?

Another, more romantic and only half-derogatory, interpretation is that Scot men were commonly tatooed (seen Braveheart?) Combined with the practice in 16th century Britain was to tatoo convicted criminals with a "T" for thief, "A" for adulterer.... etc. Before shipping them off to America and Australia. So getting away with a crime, and avoiding the conviction and penance of a tatoo meant you remained Scot-free.
-
Incidentally, have you ever wondered where the term "getting off scot-free" originated? Well, even if you didn't, I'm going to tell you. That's my job. Contrary to what you may think, the term has nothing to do with the stereotypical frugal Scotsman. Actually, a "scot" or "sceot" was a municipal tax in 12th century England, and someone who went "scot-free" was one who succeeded in dodging that tax. Scot also came to mean the amount owed for entertainment in a tavern, including drinks. If you got a free drink, you drank "scot-free". -What's in a Name? by John Collins in Writers Block, The Canadian web magazine for the writing trade. Summer 1996

Makes those $2900, 400HP GM-sourced crate engines sound like a bargain. But, once you are commited, another modification, repair or enhancement is more sensibly justified. Before I rebuilt the engine, straightened the fenders, and re-painted my $400 '66 Mustang, I was happy with used blue shag carpet.....after all that 'dirty work', nothing but a new interior would do it justice.

Don't know what it is, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2444855282&category=33615 But the word "Aluminum" always catches my attention.
