  1. Isn't Opel in the GM family? How about a peppy GM 4 like the Olds OHC Quad-4 , or the Saturn Ecotec? with turbo..... http://www.turbo-kits.com/ion_turbo_kits.html I have been seeing bellhousing kits to turn these engines around rightways lately. There is an overgrown Lotus-7 type kit car that uses the Saturn engine.

  3. Congrats again Dan. I got my copy last week and didn't get to the last page until the weekend. Yours is probably the most print-published Hybrid Z, not counting the JTR book cover photo. 8) Really stretching that in-joke about Shelby and Chili.....
  4. How low is this bottom-feeding slug? Begging for dollars on eBay! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33615&item=7918160228&rd=1 2009 sounds pretty good compared to some of our HybridZ project timelines. Reminds me of the person who mailed a plea to the mail list of the IZCC, asking (begging) each (of 3,000+ at the time) member to sent him $1, so he could buy a Z Car. Carl Beck wrote the most civil Re: anyone could imagine...wish I'd kept a copy.
  5. Sounds a lot like medievel Europe I went rock climbing once with John Kennedy Jr. (OK, literal DIRT, but we know what you mean)....I was pretty impressed with that guy back then I don't think either of us was old enough to vote.
  6. That's OK. Michael Moore doesn't understand the Electoral College either. http://www.fec.gov/pages/ecmenu2.htm
  7. I was watching Back to the Future II last nite, enjoyed a few subtle jokes.... in 2015, the weather forecasters are flawless, "almost as good as the Postal Service", Doc knew to the second when the rain would stop. in 1955, the travel agency in downtown has a poster "Visit Cuba" in 2015, the travel agent's billboard says "Surf Viet Nam"
  8. I just happened to also be looking for a yoke for my oddball GM 5 speed trans. Its a 32 spline, 1.364" (34.6 mm) diam. (actual, common reference is 1 3/8") output shaft. The yoke you seek might be fairly easy to find if my info is correct. Look at the yokes for GM's TH-400, Muncie M-22 (Rock Crusher) 4-speed, and B&W (Super) T-10 4-speed, Lenco, Liberty, Jerico, G Force (Racing) 4 speed. Note a trend here? Heavy Duty Stuff. For a 1310 U-joint you'll want to look at Camaro / Firebird parts sources, unless you find a way of fitting 1330 U-joints at both ends. Found it here: http://store.trackerdesigns.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=Driveline $200 for a "racing" part 1350 , but stock parts $5 - $20 at the JY or eBAY. $50 new from Denny's: http://www.dennysdriveshaft.com/html/slip_yokes.html
  9. Maybe he can solve California's power shortage once he sells his patent and prototype. Bidding over 8,000 now. Beam me up, Scotty. There is no sign of intelligent life here.
  10. That is the model/size of the differential in your 280ZX Turbo, The R-180 was used in 240Zs and later automatic trans-equipped cars. R-160, R-180, R-200 the # refers to the ring gear diameter (mm).
  11. found it here: http://www.moderndriveline.com/Technical_Bits/t5_history.htm
  12. I WAS a stright-A student until Chemistry. Studied, took practice tests, kept lots of notes. Just didn't get it. Lab sort of made sense, but I had a HP-11 calculator that would always return a number like 1E100001245 when mixing mols and milligrams. AAAAAAArrrrgggghhhh 20 year flashbacks!!
  13. The CLUSTER GEAR shaft is under load in all gears except 4th. It rides on it's own bearings. A complete rebuild is required. I noticed only 1 or 2 NWC rebuild kits on ebay this weekend, they are more $$$ than WC now.
  14. Will this fit a Z R-200? Different output shafts (#splines) required? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2471374469
  15. Scott Bruning built a BOP 455-powered 240Z. You can see it in some of his convertible top videos and brochures.
  16. Most questions can be answered by a wise investment in the JTR manual http://www.jagsthatrun.com/Pages/Datsun_Z_V-8.html Except the 2 most common: "How much will it cost?" "How long will it take?"
  17. Not my words, just interesting thoughts:
  18. I mean the original 1950's TR-250! Not the 1980's Miami Vice beasty. Look at this kit car on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2472064462 And the donor is Italian to boot. shwing!
  19. Just stumbled across this trivia. May be a wrecking yard part solution. If I read this right according to Jeep engine swap sites: found it here http://www.bit.spt.fi/antti-ville.nauha/tech/amc_manual_trannies.html Found it here http://www.jeeptech.com/engine/gm151.html The jeep also uses a hydraulic clutch!
  20. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2468943951&category=7251 Optimistic? Anyone we know?
  21. Waste of a perfectly good Hon...... Oh, never mind. Reminds me, I need to go to Home Depot.
