  1. So After doing a little work under the hood I took off to run some errands. All is fine for a few miles, then the clutch starts to slip. It keeps getting worse as I drive. Babied it home and find that I had bent the clutch line to almost touching the header. I guess as the fluid gets hot-maybe boiling- it builds pressure? DUH. So I bent the line back against the fire wall, flush and bleed, and all is better. Gotta watch that next time.
  2. I have been using the X-box for over a year and a half. Got it from John's. Works very well and seems to be quite trouble free. Easy to adjust for tire size, gears etc. You have to get the input direct from the VSS-not after the ECM-. The X-box has been discussed quite a bit in the chev III,IV forums. Mike
  3. Dave, That looks correct as I remember it. I use the Diablo Sport tuner using the OBD2 port and it works really well. But it won't remove VATS. I sent the PCM to them and they removed it for me. I am not savvy enough to use my laptop to do it myself. Mike
  4. Wow, the car looks great! Too bad you had to use that lift to get it off the cat you ran over. Mike
  5. Derek, Not normal. Can't tell from here if it is the linkage or not, but that is where I would start. Even with the new engine, my car will not budge with the parking brake engaged. Mike
  6. The new dryer fits in the old mounts. Mike
  7. As with all of John's products, it is an easy bolt on application. The only thing I was dissapointed by was that the comressor is for R-12. I used a conversion kit and filled it with R-34. With the kit you get new hoses and a new drier. You will have to put spade connectors on the pressure switch plug, but thats it. The wire to the compressor will just plug in from the stock harness. I installed mine before dropping the engine in but I don't think it would be very hard in the bay. Check out the pics on car-domain (link in sig). I think there are some there. Mike
  8. Janaka, Turned out very nicely. Great work. Mike
  9. It sounds just like a problem I had. I bought what was supposed to be an Aeromotive regulator on E-bay. It was a cheap knock-off. It falled after a few months. The bypass wasn't working right and caused a bad noise at the pump. I was going to change out the pump, but decided on the regulator. Bought a real aeromotive from Summit, and no more noise. Mike
  10. I went with the JTR coated headers for the look, and because I think Sanderson builds a quality header. Thats all. Mike
  11. Geez Phil, when in rains it really pours huh? Get out your snorkel and swim. I'm sure when you fix it it will be better than ever. Mike
  12. We really need to bring back public executions.... Sorry about your car, and I do hope you get it back in one piece. Mike
  13. I think the DBW in the newer GM products is extremely responsive. Also, four wires with plugs is much easier than figuring out a new throttle linkage system. Anyway, here are some pic's. I hope they will help. Mike
  14. The pedal from the GTO went up into the Z pretty easy. I had to experiment with spacers behind it to get it the same distance from the floor as the original pedal, but it was pretty easy. I used two of the original Z mounting screws, and another small bolt through the fire wall. I love the way it works. Mike
  15. I'd look at the frame rails near where the engine mounts are and underneath the car. If they have holes, forget it. If not and you are not trading more than one arm, go for it. The t-tops and wheels are worth more than $100. The interior parts are not cheap, but available. I can't remember if that year had the digital gages or not. If they are digital and don't work, they will be hard to replace. Where in ID are you? You can pm me if the car is not too far away I may be able to take a look. Mike

Good for your Phantom. Us old guys with the old Z's need to school 'em once in a while- in a safe and sane manner, of course. Mike
  17. TR-Very nice. Mine used to sound like that. I kinda miss it. Then again...
  18. I thought that was the robin on the fence laughing as you "sped" by.
  19. Congrats to you. You'll love the driving experience. Let us know how it goes. Pics and Vids would be nice! Mike
  20. My engine had lifting eyes on it out of the factory. They are bolted left front and right rear and uitlize one head bolt and at least one or two other bolts on the engine. I don't know that I would just use one bolt in an aluminum head. Mike
