  1. Huh, mine's still clear after two years, but I'm using the stock metal GTO lines with the tilton master. Mike
  2. The 5 speed from 79-83 280ZX will bolt up with no mods.
  3. Is the tank building pressure, or vacuum when driving? Try driving with the cap off. Just a thought. Mike
  4. Any chance the fuel lines are getting too close to the exhaust anywhere? Sounds like a problem I had when my line got inadvertantly moved to close to the header. Good luck with this. Mike
  5. Looks like a really nice find.
  6. I've read that just the reinforcements for the bumper/bumper-shock mounting points added 65 LBS to the weight of the later S30's. Like said above, you would have to weigh the shells with any mods to see a real comparison.
  7. So, when they run your Z's vin, what plates come up? Seems like an easy double check any officer or DMV clerk could do in a couple of seconds. Mike
  8. I bought harbor freight's heavy duty unit, used it for my swap and sold it for what I paid for it when I got done. Granted, I did assemble it, but I was happy with it and will do the same thing again for my next project, and not have to store it in between. Mike
  9. Under the black box by the fusible links-at least in 78. Mike
  10. Ouch! Looks like the drive train and most suspension parts would probably be ok though.
  11. my '78 is an 8/77 car. Last six of the VIN 477435.
  12. I used the adapter from JCI that replaces the "freeze" plug in the drivers side head. Seems to work just fine. Mike
  13. The front pinion bearing may be available through Zspecialties.com. That is where I got mine a couple of month's ago. All of the others were available through Nissan, NAPA, and Car Quest. Mike
  14. Allen, I love the new bumpers. I'm still waiting for an invite to see the car. Mike
  15. I'll second (or third) the Roostmonkey R/T mount. Makes a fantasic difference. Like you said, the way it should have been out of the factory. Mike
  16. Yes, that hose goes to the vacuum selector valve, and from there opens the vacuum cock. No vacuum, no heat.
  17. Haven't found a GTO shifter arrangement. Might just for-go that and dog-leg it. I think I 'll like the shift lever geometry the dog leg will provide. Paul, I really think that by doing that you will have a better shift feel and action. Been keeping up with your posts and find it very interesting reading. But you are making me want to do a cam swap, and I really don't want to be taking it apart now that driving season is nearly upon us. Mike
  18. Thanks. I also remembered that after the swap I had to put the vacuum canister back in to get the heater to work right. And yes I am running AC. Mike
  19. On the 78 at least, there are two magnet valves located near the right shock tower, just ahead of where the infamous fusable links are. Because of engine heat, etc. the vacuum hoses to these valves tend to crack. When they leak vacuum there is not enough to open or keep open the vacuum cock that allows the heated coolant through to the heater core. Thus, no heat. There are two water cocks in the system in the upper left passenger footwell. One is manually controlled by the heater levers, the other is vacuum controlled by the vacuum selector valve. That's the best I can expain it. You might want to consult a service manual. Good luck, Mike
  20. Check all of your vacuum lines, especially the ones near the right shock tower. I bet you'll find cracks/leaks. Mike
  21. Jason, The GTO was only produced 04-06. That's why I questioned the 09 GTO motor. Good luck though. Mike
  22. Ask and you shall receive. PM me. Mike
  23. So, are you really doing all this work just to sell it? Driving is so much more fun. Keep us posted, and try to get some pic's up. Let me know if you could use a hand as I'm not far away. Mike
