  5. I have the 8 point S&W kit. I didn't like where the the rear bars came down, so since I wasn't goint to use the door bars I re-cut the door bars to use as rear bars. They now go from the main hoop the the rear of the car (77 280Z). I'll get some pictures soon and post. For the price the S&W kit gives you a lot of parts, so you can modify it to fit just how you want. I'll use the old rear bars as short door bars when I get to that point. - Joe
  6. Even Alan Combs tore into him. Talk about being wrong, for once the Left and the Right agree, this guys an idiot. - Joe
  7. File a complaint with the track and get him banned. Let's see him explain that to groupies. Even better file a complaint with the police. - Joe

  10. Sorry to hear about it Mike. Good luck in court, and tell the boys to look at the time they had with him as a gift, not a loss. Tell them to remember the gift whenever they feel the loss. - Joe
  11. Grumpy, You continue to amaze me with your knowledge and willingness to share it with us. I was making my down-pipes today and this post couldn't have been better timed. While lining things up I was wondering what would be the best way to get at the bolts, BAM, you give me the answer before I even ask. Thanks - Joe
  12. There should be a size marking on the side. Might be hard to see, but should be there. - Joe

  15. Problem with those wheels is when you put one on the car it disappears - Joe
  16. Check Harbor Freight, they have benders for pretty good prices. Keep an eye out for a sale. - Joe
  17. Find a local motorcycle shop that supports race bikes and ask them who makes custom jackets. The jacket will have to fit tightly so that it won't move while you're wearing it. They can make a jacket that will make it safe to wear a 4/5 harness. As to cost, I rate it like a helmet, what's you brain worth. In your case what is it worth to race your car and not have to worry about popping an artery or ripping a graft. As a side benefit, once you've had the jacket made for a pretty penny you'll have a great reason to stay in shape and avoid gaining any weight When you find a leather jacket maker they should be able to hook you up, not cheap, but better then internal bleeding. Picture a jacket with a roll of padding on each side of the area to be protected. On top of the rolls is hard shell cover creating a cavity over the artery and graft. It can be made so that it follows the belt, that way the pressure would be evenly distributed. Once it's made you could show it to your Dr. and tell them who made it. That way if some else is "nuts" they can send them to the right people. Heck, if you get the right tailor they could make a full chest protector and put the zipper on the side. Years ago I saw some really creative padding on leather racing jackets for a guy who had nerve damage, so I know it can be done. Just search until you find the right guy and don't spare the pennies. We kind of like keeping members around and we'd hate to loose somebody for the sake of pennies. Matter of fact we might just get a little cranky. - Joe
  18. Try checking with your surgeon, if they've run into this before they might have some suggestions. I suspect you could have a driving jacket made that would protect you via custom padding. In a jacket the padding wouldn't slip and a hard shell protector could be placed to protect the artery. That would solve the whole problem. 4/5 point for racing and a 3 point for regular driving. Just think, you could tap on the jacket, smile and say "Kevlar, that'll stop it next time they take a shot at me". That might slow down their reaction time just enough for a 1/4 mile kill. If you got a set of early Z belts you could take them to a racing shop and have them re-made to racing specs. You could probably adapt any old style non-retracting 3 point belt. Maybe something for the old Chevys or Fords. - Joe
  19. You could try cutting up a big box and use it to cover the headliner. Tape it to the windshield and the hatch. Just a thought. - Joe
  20. ROTFL 145. I should not drink three quarts of blue food coloring before a urine test. 146. Nor should I drink three quarts of red food coloring, and scream during the same. - Joe
  21. Once again HybridZ proves it's the best site on the web for good info. No "Hey that's not a Z" or other "ask it elsewhere" comments, just great information, recommendations, and discussion. Proof once again the HybridZ rules. - Joe
  22. Start checking the ground wires. Start at the battery and make sure it is grounded to the engine and the chasis well. - Joe
