  1. I was talking to a dyno shop today and they asked me what kind of distributor I had and I told them I had a HEI. They said I needed to remove the distributor and bring it to their shop to modify it for accurate timing. Has anyone heard of this and is this something I can do on my own? They wanted $65 to do this but I had to remove it from the car, which as most of you know is almost impossible with out removing the engine. Joe
  2. Straighen the lines out and it would look a lot nicer.
  3. I'm running a T56 in my 78 280. Shouldn't I be getting better gas mileage? I'm not really stomping on it and the tire pressure is up. Would a bad ignition module have something to do with this too?
  4. Braap, Thanks for the response. I have not tried to adjust the idle as I'm usally in a drive thru line when it happens. It takes a while of sitting for it to do it. Do you recommend a brand of ignition module or would Napa brand do? It is an edlebrock 750 with HEI.
  5. I'm having some issues with my 355 chevy. It runs and idle fine until it gets hot and sparatically it will start idling really rough and will even cut off. After a minute or two it stops running rough and idles fine. I thought it was a coil going bad so I replaced the rotor, cap and coil but it still does it. It seems like it its either loosing fire or something in the fuel. I'm also getting 13-14 mpg and running 87 octane. I've just had the timing set. Any thoughts?
  6. I believe motor trend did an article on this car. Its pretty sweet.
  7. Congradulations. Whats sad is you probably know more about american history than 75% of americans.
  8. Tom, Good seeing you at the Z meet this weekend. I was expecting a car a little less damaged when you were talking about it. You may want to hold on to the aluminum for a couple of weeks until the economy settles. I've seen some big swings in the aluminum market (atleast new, not sure what the scrap is doing). Good luck and let me know if you need a hand. Joe
  9. Car looks like its in great shape. Good find. not my taste but it should be a lot of fun when your done.
  10. Tony D is more twisted than I had previously thought. interesting...
  11. Dude you drove it for 9 hours after just getting it. How much more reliable do you want?
  12. And remember IT DOES NOT SCRAPE!!!! How could it get any better.
  13. Last year we had atleast 15 S30's, a good showing of the S130's and some really nice 350z's. I think I was the only Hybridz though
  14. Well after 19 views and no responses, I spent 16 hours chasing down the electrical harness and found the problem. It was the two relays under the hood on the right side usally covered by a white plastic cover. The wires had corroded and were not making contact. I just cleaned them up and everything else worked fine. I turned the two relays sideways so water can't pool in them any more.
  15. Last time I drove my z about a month ago I had everything working great. I go to take it to the shop and I lost power to my electric fan (has a relay) so I try to plug the wire into a different fuse and no power. I test the block and only half have power WTF! I can see any shorts. Does anyone have any suggestions. by the way I don't have the alternater hooked up due to switch the sides in the engine bay. I know very little when it comes to electrical so any help will help. Joe
  16. I wish it had subtitles. That would be awesome.
  17. Is any one going to this years Ztoberfest at victory nissan? I believe its October 19th. I'll have my 280z with the power steering hooked up if anyone is planning on doing this install. Last year there was a huge turn out. I would expect the same this year.
