Hammer it! haha i'm not kidding. My mom got a nail in her tire, so I went to the local tire shop to fix it. Turns out she bent the rim, a little worse than yours. Also turns out she bent one of the back rims as well. One of the workers just got a hammer and hit it back into place, quite well actually. He got both wheels done in an hour, and I just tipped the guy 40 bucks. He balanced it and I drove the car home, no shimmy in the steering wheel and it drove just fine. 1 week later and it's still good. Now I'm sure there are tons of bad things to be said about hammering your wheel back into shape, but her lease is up in a few months and I didn't want to go spend a couple hundred repairing the wheels.

Hey guys, I'm swapping out the springs on my 240 and I'm wondering if the strut bushing/insulator wears out overtime and causes a harsher ride. To clarify, this is the piece on top of the strut assembly that attaches to the body with three nuts. I'm pretty sure this piece has never been replaced just like the rest of my suspension. If I get new ones will ride quality be any better? Thanks in advance, -Armand

strokin77, not at all. The fronts are mighty close but the rears clear easy. Fender rolling will be necessary for most tires.

I would prefer something with the right offset so it has some sort of a lip on it. Usually wheels like that are too tacky and overpower the looks of the car and just plain doesn't match the "old schoolness" of the car.

I think I'm gonna put that on my daily driver 1993 V6 Buick Park Avenue.

So how do you turn them on? Just mounted a switch somewhere on your dash?

I agree with TeamNissan. Just get some really good tires and your good to go. I use Potenza RE960 Pole Position's and they kick ASS in the rain. Like any other tire you can make it oversteer if you want to but man do these hook-up.

My brother has tried the acetone thing in his 03 Mini Cooper S. It works. Normally the BEST mpg he can get driving super easy on the highway is 30mpg. With the acetone he was getting up to 31-32mpg for the first time after 3 years of driving the car. He just used a capful of acetone from the acetone bottle every 12 gallons(full tank for him).

FYI that isn't an option of wheels from the factory. That is the original spare wheel that came with the '71 240z's. I have that original spare in my 71 and I know what you are talking about. They are HEAVY. Go with the swastikas.

cygnus, I think they are plenty strong to hold my harness. The way it is attached is pretty damn strong and the actual structure of the bar itself is put together well. I think the worst thing that can happen is that it will bend slightly. I don't think PDK would say that it can be used as something as important and serious as a harness bar if it wasn't capable of doing so. I would imagine a pretty big lawsuit if it were to fail during an accident.

Nice write up. My rear strut bar had some triangular pieces welded onto the points where the upper and lower bars meet. I wonder why your's doesn't have them?

A +10 offset will not clear the spring perch on the front end, at least with a 225 width tire. It will clear the rear, but the front will require a spacer. Just look at the pictures I posted in this thread above and the pictures show the clearances.

hey wickie, I'll be going to snow summit this weekend from the 25-27th as well. I've been skiing for about 3 years now and this season I tried snowboarding. I picked it up REALLY fast and on the 2nd day I was flying down summit run, miracle mile, log chute, and some more hidden runs on the west side of the mountain with falling maybe 2-3 times down the mountain. Honestly when I try to teach my friends to ski or snowboard, it's not that they have such a big problem with balance or if they are out of shape or not, it's fear. So many people have such low confidence in their abilities to snowboard/ski that when they start going at a relatively quick speed they start to freak out and just tell themselves "Ohhh man I'm gonna fall!!!" Honestly if you have courage and your not afraid to try things(nothing stupid!) you can pick up snowboarding quickly. I think this is the reason why I was able to pick up snowboarding on the 2nd day without any lessons. Plus I'm sure my previous skiing experience helps. I was able to go on the lift with a patroller toward the end of the first day of me snowboarding. I was able to switch from goofy to regular easily, and can go down the mountain on heels, but every time I tried S carves I kept catching an edge and falling, painfully. So I asked him how to stop catching edges, he simply said to put more weight down on your front foot when turning and to bend your knee's more. I tried this and wallah, S curves were instantly doable. I also asked him for some tips on getting off the lift, cause I still had some trouble with that. He said just look up and where your going, not at the floor. Once again it made a world of a difference and after that I can get off lifts with confidence. If your not going with some buddies I'm sure we can arrange to meet up and snowboard together. If the others are up to it, I want to go night time on friday, if that doesn't happen we'll be on the slopes on saturday for sure. Probably during the day but there is a chance we will go night time again. I love going during the night, the slopes are empty and the ones that are riding ride GOOD. Plus it's cheaper! hehe

I've been using my 4-point harness in my daily driver Z for a while now and there have been tons of cops who have definitely seen the harness and they've never done anything, and this is southern california. I think they don't care because they see it's a classic car. It's similiar to the cops not caring about me not having my front license plate, "it's a classic officer." If they see a 4-point harness on a honda I'm sure it will be a different story.

rturbo, thank you for the compliments. The suspension is Tokico HP's w/ Arizona Z car springs w/ 2 coils cut off all around. I wish I only cut 1 coil in the rear. The Tokico HP's just don't have enough dampening for these springs when cut. I have suspension technique's springs on the way. I have a buncha other stuff like TTT tension control rods, suspension technique's swaybars, polyurethane everywhere, and new everything on steering. Just need to add some AZC bump steer/quick ratio steering knuckles and put those springs on and suspension will be done. zane, thank you! I'm looking for a steering column cover. All the tabs that hold the two half's together have broken off. I have one screw in the front and a piece of black string holding it together! ihavearustedz, yes, there was a very noticeable difference in not only sound and rattles but temperature as well. It stays colder on hotter days and warmer on those cold nights. I think it was worth it, it was quite a lot of time-consuming work. It's especially worth it if you have a stereo system. It makes any stereo sound WAY better. My stereo bumps so clearly, and its still running off the built in head unit amp. I can't wait to put in an amp and see what these speakers can do.

Nzeder, I can assure you the ones with the straighter spokes are the regular RB's. I got around to installing the 16x8 Rota RB +04 offset. The 15's and 16's are have a different curvature to their spokes. Well I got them mounted on 225/50/16 size Yokohoma Advan's. There is no rubbing in front on the spring perch of fenders with the exception of my MSA fiberglass air dam. Just some quick trimming with the dremel I it clears just fine. I should also mention I am running +5 degrees positive caster. The spring perch is QUITE close to the tire. I will be putting 7mm wheel spacers since there is room to spare toward the fender. Here is the clearance on the front spring perch: The rear clears the spring perch much better than the front, but does rub the fender lip on bumps. I got a heat gun and an old baseball bat and did the old fender lip rolling trick. With my holding the bat and my brother pushing hte car, it was quite quick and easy. As long as you heat up the fender really good there really isn't too much risk involved. OH and before you roll it get an exacto knife and make a slit in the paint so it cracks off there and not further outside the fender. Man-o-man am I glad I live in Southern California. I have a tiny 5mm hole of rust in my right front rocker panel and that's the only rust I can find on the car.

Super clean Z. But I wouldn't trust putting those jack stands right under the "frame rails" of the floor. I don't know if its different on 280's but I sure as hell wouldn't put those jack stands there on my 240z.
