  1. Saw a Corvair with a 455 Olds Toronado in the engine compartment. I work with a guy who has a bone stock looking '55 Chevy pickup with a built sb400 running a 6-71 Jimmy blower, Enderly hat injection and a huge Nitros bottle. the truck is kind of a frog turd green and nothing shows unless you look under it to see the monster tires, it looks totally stock. It also helps the illusion that the guy who owns it has a big white beard, and looks like someone's grandpa. Oh yeah, he can't drag race it anymore because he won't put a cage in it.
  2. Congratulations!!! You ran out of gas across from a station? Then a friend noticed your tires getting low and had a place to get them pumped up? Man, you are real lucky. If it had been me, I would have hit empty 30 miles from anywhere, and when I got back with a can of gas, the tires would have gone flat while I was gone. Sounds like your Z likes you.
  3. Our middle daughter and her husband just traded in her Camaro for a Dakota. She has three grandkids that they have to haul around and that was their excuse for getting an SUV. Too bad she didn't buy a magnum instead of the Dakota. I think it would have make a lot more sense. Besides, she might have saved enough to have gotten the Hemi.
  4. How aboutr the GMC Typhoon? Even t hough I don't know much about turbo engines, but 280@4200 and 350@3600 stock specs seems decent.
  5. I'm old, and you know how cranky us old farts are . I think its an ugly little golbual shaped car. but then I''m feel almost the same about the Audi. that Lexus thing. and the 350. I mean they all look as if they are all the same. Kinda lemming mobiles. No, I dont dislike all the new cars, just the shapless round ones. No the Cadillac XLR that's another story. Even the Crossfire has a couple of edges. Actually I think the new T-Bird looks more like a '53-'54 Vette than it does a Bird. If ther is anyone here that I haven't offended. just let me know.
  6. Are you really from Wisconson?? Sounds like Texas to me
  7. How about putting it in a quad? Friend has an "almost stock" 1100 Ninja in a quad, and it is real scary.
  8. Thr tranny is probably a C4 and they are a pretty good tranny. I would pull the trans dipstick and look at the fluid. it should be red and not smell burned. Start the car and put it into gear. There shouldn't be any hesitation when it goes into gear. I don't know squat about ford V-6s though. I would guess since that its an 80's car you take your chances, but for three hundred, it wouldn't have to last forever. and it doesn't take too long to get $300 worth of use. I had an '86 LTD (tank!) I drove it for about six months and traded it to my grandson for labor reroofing my house. One other thing, do you know why it was towed?
  9. George W charging up San Juan hill.
  10. Phantom, Considering the craftsmanship of your Z, that is a real compliment. Joe
  11. Oh Gawd, Stop it my sides are hurting.
  12. I finally got the engine installed for keeps. Now all I need is a million dollars and a century to finish up the details.
  13. I don't envy you. Not Much! (Envy is much too mild a word!) Congratulations. Guess I should go out and work on the money pit. Howz about some pick of your Z? Joe
  14. Don't know if it will work , but you might go to a junk yard and rip the cable out of a z31 hatch latch.
  15. Sounds like these people think a tool kit is a Master Card and a Cell phone
  16. See what happens when the brain gets starved for oxegon?? Just another tradgic case of altitude sickness.
  17. Pete, Thanks for all the information. I can probably do the fabrication, its just the electronics that I'm uncomfortable with. I'm going to print your post, and hang it in the garage. I can't give up my mag though Its a Don Zig OXC, (external coil) off a top gas dragster and makes a huge amount of spark. Besides It looks much cooler than a distributor. Joe
  18. Pete, Please keep us posted on what is involved. I have a set of Kinslers that I really want to run. The problem for me is that I know nothing about EFI. I have a vertex mag and no idea how or if it worked with the electronics, I was goinng to run the injection constant flow. Unfortunatley I don't have the room for a crank driven or even a belt driven fuel pump. Joe

    Question!

Not to worry, nobody shuns anyone here, but if you're still worried, go find a good v8, and put it in your 300 juysat ngo and find a
  20. I am not sure about an LS1, but you should think about a header that dumps at the rear, as opposed to block huggers. The block huggers on my 350 only have about 2" clearance from the snout on the steering rack. For now I am using a carter carb, and Vertex mag. They are pretty tall, and don't clear the hood, but if the fuel injection and dist are stock, you should have room under the hood. Joe
  21. Tim, Now more than ever your avatar says it all! Joe
  22. He sure does badmouth it. I'll bet you'd never hear him say that it is necessary to own 2 Jaguars so you have one to drive while the other one is in the shop
