That motor is the background of the first pic might work, but you should try to find one with an electric start instead of a pull rope. From what I've read here what is really important is the rust situation. If it i;s solid, all that it will take is money and an insane wish to have a really nice car. just my two scents.

I just spent the whole day trying to get my car to start for the first time, and the olnly thing I have to show for it is that the oil pressure guage works. For some reason it wants to backfire through the carb, then out the exhaust. First problem is that I don't know anything about Magnetos. Of course the fact that it was about 102 in the shade, and slightly warmer in the garage may have some bearing on why I couldn't figure out what's wrong. I know its the timing, but its been just too hot to think. Oh well, I think I'll go sit in the refrigidator and see if the light really goes out when the door is closed.

All the things you are saying are the things that I have been ranting about for the last few years. It seems that the 350 owners are of the same ilk as the "new breed" of Harley owners. (Or as I call them, Yuppie Scum) I seldom ride my bike because I don't want to associate with that group, and now they're slithereing into the Z community. I got a tee shirt that sums up the way I feel: "Harley Davidson, a life style, not a fashion statement" that's how I feel about my Z!

OK, here is the problem. I'm installing the combo meters (from a 240Z?) in my Z31. The Z31 had a volt meter which I'll move somewhere under the dash. I don't know how to wire in the Amp meter. I've got a Chilton book, a Haynes book, and a wiring diagram that is six pages long that I copied at the library. I've even checked my Harley shop manual, but it says nothing about wiring in an amp meter with an alternator. I should knmow this but as I get older, I've found the the first two things to go are yuour memory and the second is... the second is uh... uh what was I saying?

I finished movi;ng the gas tank filler from the side of the car to behind the licence plate, and now I'm getting ready to install a holley red fuel pump. The instructions say it must be gravity fed. Does anyone know how far a red pump will lift fuel? I want to mount it abut 6" above the bottom of the tank so it will be up out of the way. I tried the search function but couldn't find the info. Thanks, Joe

I've got aluminium on my z31. My wife likes them so I'm going to have them painted to match the car if I ever get that far along.
