  1. ALright guys. Thanks for the suggestions so far. Timing is good for cranking. I now think my problem is fuel. I do not hear the injectors clicking. I put a test light on the + side of the injector and it is always on when the ignition is on. I put it on the - side of the injector and the same thing happens. I dont believe that should be. Has anyone had that problem before? I have the injectors wired like this:
  2. Although I have spark ill mention this anyway (dont know if its important at all). The 'Coil Charging Scheme' was suppose to be set to 'Standard Coil Charge'. However that option is missing in my megatune. (megatune 2.25 p3). I figured i did something wrong during installation, so i reinstalled it. It was there. Then when i uploaded the "MSII extra" software it dissapears from the menu. Will this be a problem? Is there something I am missing? Am I looking in the wrong place? Do i have the correct version of megatune? Thanks.
  3. Is your coil sparking?. yes Are your injectors clicking?. I see the pulse width in the megatune so i want to say yes. Are your injectors spraying fuel?. I see the pulse width in the megatune so i want to say yes. Are the spark plugs wet? no Does megatune show your ignition timing?. yes Do you have a fuel map and ignition map in your tables? yes Ill double check on the fuel though just to make sure.
  4. Alright so heres what I did. I went ahead and put the jumpers according to the link in my first post. I also got rid of the hei module. After doing some reading I believe I no longer need it. Anyway. I set the timing and everything but I still cannot get the car to even idle. What am I doing wrong? Heres a copy of the updated msq file. Any help is appreciated. 1.1.zip

  6. haha. Sorry about that. Yea i got a couple of z cars. Just sold my 71 240z. This is for my 78 NA L28 280z (soon to be daily I hope!). The ls1 280z is officially "special occasions only" car. Special occasions could be anything haha.
  7. I already took the cover off ms. The mods mentioned in that link are not done to the ms yet. How did you hook up ur set up if you dont mind me asking?
  8. I was hoping you guys could curb some confusion for me here. First of all here is my setup. stock l28 from a 78 280z Jsk fuel rail (o ring style) 280zxt turbo distributer HEI Module (4 Pin) Ford Lightening injectors (440cc), I know its over kill but its what i had at the time to work with the fuel rail. Stock FPR 240sx tps I think thats pretty much it. The plan is to hook up MSII extra so ican control both spark and fuel with ms (full standalone). This is going to be my daily driver. Anyway. I bought the msII for a decent price from a freand that never used it. Already assembeled and all. I was reading at http://www.diyautotune.com/tech_articles/how_to_megasquirt_your_280zx_turbo.htm That I need to Remove the jumper from JS10 to IGN (if exists) Jumper IGBTIN to JS10 Jumper IGBTOUT to IGN Seems straight forward however I dont see anything written there about the HEI module. I dont know if it matters but should I still follow those steps? Just want to make sure before i F*** with the pcb board. Im not sure if it has any relvence at all. Also i hooked up setup according to this diagram exactly. Just lately I wondered if i ever needed the HEI module to begin with. The other route would have been direct control i supppose. (MIGHT HELP OTHERS!) Another concern in the build of mine is that using the 280zxt distributer it and I dont have adjustment on my distributer. Its solidly mounted onto the front cover. There was a mount that use to go inbetween the N/a distributer and the front cover but my zxt distriubter would reach that oilrod thing (sorry dont know that name) so i removed it. I then used the bottom of the vr distibuter (so i didnt have to change the oilrod thing) and it went in fine. This is fine except that it might be trouble when setting timing.   9. Heres a carbon fiber one on ebay. And while your at it heres a wing to match. And when you buy and mount them you have to take pictures of your car, how they fit, and the quality of them. (Hey! help on hybrdz isnt free!)

  12. When you experienced something similar to that in the letter, was it in a z car? Mind posting some specs (weight, engine/power, rims size, tire size, course etc)? Just for education purposes anyway. Mind be good to know.

  14. I agree with DIY. Only out source work that absolutely needs to be done by someone else. If its not having time thats the problem then do what I do. Either work really late night, or really early morning. I only try to get one thing done a day. And it usually ends up that when you start with one thing you move to another and then another. Before you know it things are getting done fast.

  16. They are thieves. I like to leave the stuff right on the counter when they say something stupid like that. I like to hear them scream to take it off as I walk away. Then they wonder why so many parts get stolen.
  17. I noticed that. But i dont think it will make a difference being that the part im hooking it to (bottom of the window is flat). Plus there isnt that much movement really. Also I would modify some of the datsun track to keep it "in line". Might be worth a shot. Im willing to try.
  18. Kind of on the subject. I was thinking of purchasing this "kit" and modifying it to work. Seems pretty straight forward if the measurements are close. Says the track can be shortened. Of course its over priced, slow, and very cheap quality. The other day it snapped the window crank it usually hooked on to. Not to mention it made the door panels fit like ♥♥♥♥.   19. Might be a stupid question but here it goes anyway. Im looking to get tires to mock up my new wheels and can get some OEM used Run flats pretty cheap. I was thinking to use them as mock up tires, use them a little and then get some real rubber. However Im wondering why when i was doing some homework on the tires on tire rack it says that these tires are for OE vehicles only. Does this mean it wont work on an after market wheel on our z car? What is the reason for this?   21. Wow. I feel stupid. Matt was right. It was the wrong downloader. So I download the correct version and everything goes smooth. I Upload the boot file. No problem. But when i tried to upload the MS2/extra firmware. I got this. I used port checker. Says port 4 is available. So thats not the problem. Did some reading and noticed people who had this problem used a different computer. Ok. So i set up my desktop in my driveway (all the neighbors think i have serious issues now). And it still wont work. Looked the manual over. But Im following directions. I don't know what else to do? Any ideas?
  22. It gets its power from the car battery which is being charged at the same time.
  23. I thought so too (wrong com port). But its correct. When I go to my computer and check the hardware I can see that is connected in port 5. I do have MSII but I tried to upload the MSIIExtra flash. I do have the key on during upload. I followed the directions and have been at this all day.
