  1. have you given any more thought on to what your going to do ti keep this one together??
  2. i have seen many of the there manifolds and they are beautiful. at first they where cracking when they wherent braced. But they have since then started bracing the manifolds and they havent had a problem since.
  3. from what i have measured before i think we could move the flange about an inch closer to the fender well and probably forward about inch and still be ok. This would give us alot more room also i believe. Does someone have an extra manifold laying around to where they can get the measurements? my extra one is at SSAC
  4. have you adjusted the throttle stop that is behind the throttle peddle to allow it to move farther?
  5. yes. it does. it sounds like you have your power source hooked up to somewhere that doesnt get power during cranking. I would try moving the switched power or at least make sure it is on while cranking...
  6. Hey 78280z id just like to say thank you for taking point on the design of the manifold. Looks like your doing awesome so far. Ill keep things going on my end and i hope we can get this going soon.
  7. what head gasket and what was the compression ratio?
  8. id probably say we should go with the one piece. my reason is that gives them one less thing that can be out of alignments.
  9. do you have a good throttle return spring on it? i found when i had a lite spring on it or i forgot to put one on it was to easy to push the throttle and made it really touchy. but then i put a stiffer spring on and it went away.
  10. that was impressive to say the least. makes me want to fine tune my driving skills
  11. It was a stock usdm exhaust manifold. i bought it off of someone on here and then ssac sent a call tag for it to save me shipping. It sounds like we are starting to get somewhere now. Lets keep it going!!!!! Jeff
  12. If all your wanting to run is 12 psi i would just stick with the stock t3 not saying there wouldnt be benifits from running a bigger turbo just that i dont believe the cost of upgrading is going to be worth the hassle. i was running my t3 at 12psi on the stock efi for 6 months and then at 14psi with MS&S for like 3 months. and it had no issues what so ever with the turbo. i did have a starion intercooler and a bov though. so i would just save your money and put it towards something more useful. Like a good 3 inch exhaust.
  13. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NXS-MANUAL-BOOST-CONTROLLER-300ZX-GSX-GST-STI-RX7-MBC_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33742QQihZ016QQitemZ260244366200QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW I have one of these was the cheapest i could find on the net. i got it and it actualy works great. dont have any issues with boost spikes or anything.
  14. i say what ever type of bike will keep you interested and keep you riding.
  15. allright so if we are going to make our own manifold where does that put us? i dont have the capabilities to design one. so im gonna need help.
  16. The Guy at ssac says he cant promise that it wont have to be cut up to make a copy of...
  17. From what i understand all the diesel guys upgrade from the hy351cw because the exhaust side gets to hot because of the 9cm exhaust housing. So I would try one of 2 things. !. Try a hx35w or maybe even a hx40w there is many different exhaust sizes available and fan types. 2. Go with a large external waste gate to where your not pushing all the exhaust through the turbine and heating it up. Then you wont be cooking the compression ring. Hope that helps. All the diesel guys say the stock turbo works fine for eveyr day driving but when you start hauling heavy loads the exhaust turbine starts getting to hot. So i think if you only push enough exhaust through the turbine and bypass the rest through an external wastgate it wont get heated up as much.
  18. they are talking about making a log style copy out of stainless. which would flow elot more then the stocker but not as much as a tubular one.
  19. Ok guys sorry for the long delay. Here is where we are at with the manifold. They have a stock cast manifold to make one off of. But they are saying they can only make a copy of that one and i have a feeling it would turn out like the bhj one. Here is the copy of the last e-mail i got from the guy. Jeff OK - we got the cast Manifold So - do you A) want to make " EXACT DIMENSION CONFIGURATIONS " based on what to do for the engineer and email them to me ? OR Have us make the manifold as it is, with stainless steel , and tell us where to add a gate flange and all that Just let us know what to do ........ EXACTLY ........ and we will start to do it Thanks! Honestly guys im a little lost on what we need to do from here. and could use some help. Do we just want to say make one or do we need to basically design one and send them the dimensions. So what are you guys thinking? Then we can go from there.
  20. Jeff i say leave the car alone. and focus on getting it running correctly. My frist car was a 97 ford ranger with a 4 banger manual. i maxxed it out. it went 93mph. my second car well van was a 88 ford econoline 150. maxed out at 110ish if i recall correctly. Ive maxed out every car my parents gave me to drive. and i would of gotten into as much trouble with a slower car. If you make it slow enough to not speed on the interstate that doesnt mean he wont speed in town. and by that time you will probably have slowed the car down enough to where its unsafe. IDK how many times i have used acceleration to get out of getting hit. Here is the sure fire way to keep him driving at a reasonable speed if you can. 1. start off paying his insurance. but have it in writing with him that if he gets a ticket or in a wreck that he has to take over the insurance after that or has to pay the difference. 2. if he gets a ticket. take the car away for a month. make him walk. take the bus. It will make him appreciate what he has. You get the idea. I also like the idea of getting him into autocross. Both of you do it and it can be a father son activity you can do and you both can battle it out for the best times. I always raced motorcross growing up and it was a great day the time i passed my dad in a race.
  21. Just do it on the compression stroke. Both valves are closed then. Ive used this method dozens of times with out issue and with out me making sure im on the compression stroke so i doubt it would bend a valve
  22. Have you seen his welds?? Go look at the intercooler that he had to modify. His welds are pretty much perfect. So its not like its going to be just thrown together..
