  1. @johnc : What should one do then at this point? Is there a specific type of tubing that should be used for the Harness bar? While I rarely have people in the car with me, I would like to know that they are safe in case of an accident.

    Floor plugs

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but any idea on what sizes the holes are for the Z? I'd like to replace all the rubber with new ones, and the prices at Auto Hole Plugs is too cheap to not do it Does anyone know how many you'll need and of what size?
  3. I ended up buying a 15/16 280 MC from Matt Hurr a while ago here. I am upgrading to 4x4 S12+8 calipers front, and 240sx rear. I currently have the stock 240Z MC and when I opened the box this is what I had . . . MC Fluid Cups Filters Fluid Cup brackets (to tighten around openings) Now, I noticed that I didn't have any of the bleeder valves, what type do I need to buy to put into the SIDE of the MC? Can I just take the Front and Rear Lines out of the bottom of my stock 240Z MC, and run them into the bottom of my new 15/16 MC? Do I need to buy any adapters? Finally I see a small hole on the opposite side of the MC's bleeder valves. It looks like a screw can go into there, but there is none. Do I need a screw for that hole? Bench Bleeding When bench bleeding, I know that I loosen the bleeder valves and have hoses going from them back into each respective cup. But what about the bottom holes (the holes that the actual brake lines connect to)? Will I need to block those? I will be doing the bench bleeding OFF the car, so I won't have any lines to block the bottom holes. I was thinking of doing the BB on the car, but thought it would be better to do it off to be able to do it slowly. But, please share your thoughts. I've already searched and read and found directions. But no-one talks about the bottom holes when BB off the car. Thanks Everyone for the help!
  4. Trust me, you're not wrong. I have the same setup and used the same measurements that you talk about and I can't see @#$% out of them. But, I had them painted Matte Black and the outcome was very nice. Leaving them the plastic black doesn't look very good. I'll throw some pics up later tonight if I find the time.
  5. I would think wider rear would be good, but 225 front is about as wide as I would go. I wouldn't want anything rubbing
  6. I think those would look nice. Wish they were staggered tho 9" up front? . . . little wide for my taste
  7. Huge thanks, as I think these are the ones I was looking for, but they are still steelies and thus, pretty damn heavy! Any idea on what to do about the tires? I want to fit some good sized rubber in the back, but I'm really limited with 15" rims. Again, thank you for your help. I also just noticed that I can get them in varying sizes from 15 to 17, so . . . SCORE!!! I think I'll contact them today. Any help on tires tho . .
  8. Was wondering if you were able to find any street tires for these rims? I have been having a hard time staying in the 15" category with custom offset when it comes to tires. I've only been able to find Drag or Hoosier tires for these sized rims. I love the look, but I'll be mostly driving on the coast 30 miles this way, and 30 miles back. Don't want to spend tons of $$$ on tires if I don't need to.
  9. So, I'm looking to throw these rims on my Z, but in a different color (probably FLAT black instead of gloss black. I found a place that KINDA looks like these, and they'll do them in any offset I need . . MR Wheels They are a little heavy, but they are pretty darn CHEAP for custom offset. I think the rims below are the same ones that I have linked above . . . I'm also wondering about these rims . . . they have 9 spokes which aren't the same as the one I linked to from MRW . . The reason I am looking into these is my car has a very unique rear end. I have fabbed in a 240sx (S13) rear subframe, and this pushes the track out about an inch or so on both sides. I have a set of Extra wide ZG flares, but when mounted the tires are literally already about 3mm from the fender. So, I'm trying to fit in some bigger rears (around 235 - 255) and a little wider fronts (205-215). The front is stock so I'll need to get a prett NEG offset to push them out . . . BUT i don't want it to look weird with the front having more lip then the rear... So I'll probably have to go with something like +14 and then a 10 or 15 mm spacer. If anyone has any ideas, I'm open for options. I was actually looking into a few different options, one being the WORK CR01's, in a A disk and O disk patter for the front and rear respectively. But, this would be in 15, and with 15's I'm limited to 225 MAX width for tires (at least, all the 235 or 255 that I found looked to be like 50 or 60 Height and weren't even performance tires, but more for jeeps or suvs) Your help here would be greatly appreciated. FYI . . Work config . . Front : 15x7.5 +16 with 15mm spacer Rear : 15x9 +45 with 4 - 5 mm spacer
  10. Wow, Did that take a long time or what!! HAHA I've been keeping a log at CarDomain and if you're interested, please check it out. I am picking her up this Friday after 3 months of work. I won't divulge pricing, but I would like to think what you guys think the work would have cost. The shop, to me, looks like they do great work. Car Domain Linky
  11. So . . . where to start? I've had the car now for about 5 years. Found it down the street sitting on a curb waiting for someone to love it. I put a note on the windshield with my contact information and literally "She will have a good home and a long life". Heard back from the owner 1 month later . . . $3000 and she was mine. Bone stock, automatic, completely restored (his dad owned the car and got sick. So it sat in the garage for about 15 years. He then restored it for his son, but his son didn't like how small it was.) So, one drive in her and I was hooked! Had her for about 1 year before I decided to add a little more HP to the fix. Talked with Vildini Motorsports and setup a SR20DET blacktop swap. Wish I could have done it myself like others on here, but I just didn't have the space and the knowledge for it. Vildini does EXCELLENT work, top notch if you're looking for it. He installed my SR20DET with all piping and exhaust work. It was all just basic bolt onn, nothing special. I loved the car. It was fast, nimble and fun to drive. Not to mention how rare it was! I love this car and will be keeping it for as long as possible. (I'm hoping to give it my own son in due time) Well, enough about my story, on with the pictures right!!! Hope you enjoy them. . . .
  12. I'm just going to start off by saying THANK YOU to the Chris and Mark over at DC Performance!! Those guys are stand up people! I can't recommend them enough if you're looking for a place to get your car tuned. I wish there were more places like this. On to the car . . . 73' 240Z SR20DET 94' Black Top Front Mount Intercooler Extended Intake with Apexi Filter Z32 MAF GT2871R .64AR 740CC Tomei Injectors 300ZX Fuel Filter Megan Racing SS Exhaust Header Greddy Turbo Elbow 3' Exhaust straight pipe to Megan Racing 3.5" Muffler Stock Bottom End Stock Head Stock Head Gasket Nis-Tune Onboard DaughterBoard Apexi ACV-R Boost Controller Walbro 255 Fuel Pump Nismo FPR BKR7E Plugs at 0.32" Well, this thing was a little hard to tune and that makes my love for DC even more so!! We had some problems with my fuel pressure and then a few problems with the MAF (turned out to be my smart ass unplugging the SAFC controller HAHA). But, throughout it all the runs were good and I think we eaked out everything we could. I was largely imnpressed with their work and their easy going attitude. I've never had my car tuned and I couldn't have asked for a better outcome from Chris. (I also noted, that the problem with the boost may have been due to my intercooler piping actually not tightened down all the way. This was my mistake and I felt pretty stupid after getting home and doing my final inspection.) I couldn't believe how out of their way these guys went. I had my car towed out there by AAA and while I was there they bought me lunch and dinner. (I tried to buy them food but they weren't having it) After all the tuning was completed I called AAA to have my car towed back to my house (Its torn apart and not safe for the road quite yet) but AAA said I was limited to one tow a day for one car! I argued with AAA for about 1 hour, and they wouldn't budge. I was going to have to pay over $300 to have my car towed back to my house!! Then, without even giving it a second thought, Mark offered up a free tow from AAA on his account. This was not something I was expecting to happen and I INSISTED that they let me buy them a late late dinner. So, 3 In-N-Out #1's later we finally had a AAA tow truck pick up my car and drive me back to my place. I can not tell you how grateful I am to Mark for the free tow, as well as Chris for the awesome work he did. If you are looking to have any tuning done, I would recommend Dc performance in a heartbeat! They made the entire day a GREAT one and made my first ever tune awesome! Thanks again to you both!
  13. What is the offset in the rear that you are running? as well as the front?
  14. Zhunter, What size tires are you running? I'm actually really interested in these. I have a 240SX rear subframe and need some +25 or +30 rims with super wide fenders for my rear end to sit flush. But, I have standard Z front subframe so I would need to stick with a standard fitment to look sleek. How far past the fender does the rim/tire stick out? What kind of flares are you running? (standard MSA flares or the oversized flares that you can purchase from ZforceProductions?
  15. Thank you Nigel. I will purchase some today and get it over with! Truly, thanks again!
  16. Hey Everyone, I took out the damn bolts and lost them!! I was hoping someone could quickly let me know the type of bolts that are used on the sway bar. I'm talking about the bolts that actually bolt the sway bar to the frame of the car. there are two on each side of the car. I just want to run down to my local ACE or HD and pick some replacements up if I can. Really appreciate it guys!
  17. If anyone wants my spindle pin puller, let me know. I'll sell it to ya for 30 shipped anywhere in the US. Never been used as I just replaced the entire rear subframe with S13.
  18. I'm actually having this done at the moment. My reasoning behind this was . . . 1) Easy to source parts for CHEAP (Coilovers, control arms, bushings, Diffs[i thought the J30 was a pretty damn stoute diff myself], etc etc) 2) I know and understand the S13 suspension and culture. I have a lot of friends who can get me parts on the cheap. 3) I wanted something different. 4) It widens the stance of the 240Z by a few inches. 5) Because it seemed like a good idea It may not be the most cost effective method to go, but I figured it was something worth the $$. I'm going to be learning how to weld and will be strengthening the frame (stitch welding the whole car, strut tower bars, etc), and adding much more power to the car. I wanted something that I could enjoy driving as a weekend car for years. It may not be for everyone, and I'm sure there are other ways of getting what I want, but this is the road I took. I will post pictures of it after it is done. (I'm actually only having the rear end done. The front end I am keeping stock (except for coilovers.) I have seen the front end done and it was done exactly as you said, with welding a power brace to the radiator support, using the S13 front crossmember. But, I can't really give more information on this as I don't have any.
  19. im actually new to the z cars too but im attempting to do a sr20 swap just wanted to know if u know any shop around sacramento area tat can do the swap for me..

  20. quick question . . . What are the deepest the speakers can be for these panels? It would help me with pricing on the entire setup.
  21. Just wnat to throw in that I myself love the Apex-i AVC-R!! I get no boost creep at all and I can set different levels depending on the speed of the car, or injector pulse width, etc etc. I can also hold off in 1st gear to keep the tires from spinning like crazy.
  22. This is why I love this site . . . every member (well . . almost every member) is a wealth of knowledge! Its the reason I come back day in and day out.
  23. Well, I got the seats in and had some brackets made for them. I installed them last night and it looks like they fit perfectly. The only problem is that the top left bolster is hit BARELY bit the door. I have the interior door panels off right now because I'm doing some work and they don't touch, but the space between them is seriously like under 2 CM. but, there is enough space on the other side that if you made your own brackets you could move the seat over to the left just a tad and be perfect. I can post up pics if needed, but that's not going to be for a few days.
