  1. I am about to build myself a cafe racer using a cb750, but here is a 1958 Triumph Tiger Cub that I restored for my university. Its a fun little bike to throw around.
  2. I was just playin around man. I completely understand not wanting to make trips in a stinky, stiff car. I just wanna see you and your car at the meet.
  3. No excuses man, I am running 448lb springs and an open header and I will probably show up, haha.
  4. Don't worry, between Hybridz and the other Z forums not a part will leave that car that we won't know about. I hope you get it back soon.
  5. and is a little bit beyond what I can actually build.
  6. So, I am a rising junior Mechanical Engineer at Princeton, and it's about time for me to start thinking about my junior/senior project. I had been tossing a few ideas around in my head, but one that jumped out at me was designing and building an individual slide throttle intake and manifold from scratch. I would probably megasquirt it and may use another interesting idea for FI. Basically I was wondering if you guys thought this would be a worthwhile project, and whether you had any input or insight on issues I might run into. I have heard that slide throttles can be hard modulate, so I was thinking of using an eccentric linkage or possibly an electronic throttle so partial throttle would be easier to control. one other project idea that I was thinking of were building an FI system that based its calculations not only on air pressure or flow, and o2 in the exhaust, but used fast acting, laser-based, oxygen sensors to measure the oxygen concentration on the INTAKE side just before every injector event, hopefully increasing power and effeciency. Because o2 concentration can vary quite a bit, i think there is some room for improvement The other idea was to build and race a lithium battery powered, 240sx based electric car and compete in popular motorsports events with it to get media coverage and therefore funding. I look forward to your input. -will watts
  7. yea, It made me pretty happy to see SU's on some old Jag v12's and straight sixes in a show the other day.
  8. I have to see which weekend I'm supposed to move (living on campus this summer so i have to change dorms at some point), but I'll let you guys know which weekend is better for me.
  9. of course I want to see that, haha
  10. This morning I had to stop at home depot to pick up some hardware to re-mount my airdam, which was ripped off by an exposed manhole in a construction zone. I also recently had an incident with a tree so my car looks like crap. The body is flat black with spots of bubbling rust, the hood is brown with the same, and one headlight bucket is primer grey. The airdam was held up by a piece of rope. Nevertheless when I came out of the home depot there were a couple of guys taking pictures of my z and they asked me if it was mine as I walked up to it. They told me it was awesome and that they really liked it. It really doesn't take much to make you feel good about your car. Sometimes it takes little things like that to remind you why your putting up with this 35 year old car.
  11. can't wait, though im slightly embarassed to show up in my appalling hunk of junk
  12. Yeah, I bought a big, heavy, all steel floor jack that is rated at 6 tons because I don't trust those light weight aluminum ones. have never regretted it.
  13. The only way i can see that working is that the exhaust goes around the circumference of the housing, in through the top and out through the other top, and spins the rotor, which pulls in intake air through the side facing the camera and it is compressed by an equally strange compressor housing.
  14. I am planning on driving my 240 up from central jersey. I will try to convince my girlfriend to come as well but you know how that goes. It will help to know that there will be at least one other girl there. If anyone from jersey wants to meet up on the way up there we should get a phone number list going.
  15. 08544 taking the 240 so I would prefer a shorter drive. Otherwise I could probably convince my dad to let me borrow his miata
  16. eh, exhaust is a luxury, you dont need it. I will be showing up with open headers.... I had an incident involving snow, a curb, and a tree.
  17. Well if it isn't overheating below highway speeds then it isnt the fans or anything. I would check for pressure leaks everywhere. If you have a small hole say in the thermostat housing or in a hose, it'll leak pressure and the coolant will boil over. Other than that, maybe the thermostat isnt opening fully, and it doesn't become an issue till a higher cooling capacity is needed, ie the constant load of highway speeds. Just hope it isnt the headgasket.
  18. Man, I looked at that ramp and knew there was no way that was gonna work. I hope those little winglets were'nt for attitude control. What a silly stunt
  19. I'm in. Just let me know when and where

    I have

I agree with everything everyone else has said. I had to deal with parents like that when I was your age and dating. It's just how things work at that age. I distinctly remember being 15 and dating a 16 year old whose parents wouldnt let her date. As a result we snuck around in my highschool and fooled around. Looking back, I can completely understand why her parents were so protective. It's because as teenagers we aren't really making decisions with our heads, but with our hormones. Wait things out, take it slow, have a good time and enjoy the relationship while it is light. People always told me that my teenage years would be the best of my life, and now I can understand why. Don't stress and enjoy life BTW congrats on owning and working on cars at your age, it's a very good thing. I remember being on here at your age and I learned quite alot.
  21. beautiful cars. I really like the idea of a 10.1 sec carbed L series. haha. On another note, did any one else notice that the black skyline at the end was chirping all 4 tires on pretty much every shift....
  22. it may have been designed for a 450cc, but i bet a muffler designed for a 1000cc sportbike or even a 600 should flow enough. Figure those things being 1000cc at 16k rpm, is more or less the same as 2800cc at 6000rpm. Slightly off topic, my friend's ninja 600RR redlines at 16500rpm.....it sounds ridiculous. Are there any street bikes that spin much higher than that?
