  1. Congrats Chelle. I have always loved you car, it's absolutely beautiful. http://www.autoblog.com/2007/06/24/replica-mutt-nissan-280z-based-ferrari-260-gto-with-a-bmw-v12/

    4wd 240z

There was a post about this car somewhere else on the forum a while back. From what I remember it was running a complete chevy truck frame and drivetrain with a chevy v8, he bolted the Z body on to that I believe.
  3. Yeah, puddles definitely make my car interesting at speed. Luckily the roads around where I live aren't too bad, but if i hit anything deeper than an inch at anything over 20mph I can feel that I have completely lost control of my car and have to wait it out. I don't think there is much we can do for this other than buy good all-weather tires and hope for the best. These light cars are killer for hydroplaning. My dad just got a miata, I'll be interested to see how that handles big puddles, as it is 300lbs or so lighter than the Z.
  4. you guys are lucky. Here in Jersey I pay about 3k a year for insurance with ZERO collision or theft coverage. Granted, I am 20 but still...
  5. those are probably l28's. Judging by how that guy was revving and slipping the clutch to start out, they probably have very very very low inertia flywheels.
  6. HILARIOUS! I read that article a couple days back and some had some pretty funny images running through my head.
  7. thats crazy. Anything that has a bike plate but can seat 4 more comfortably than my 2+2 is impressive. Also, I dig the gauges in the intake scoop on that blue one.
  8. 2001 z06, can't ignore that performance. 240z with or without bumpers?
  9. that engine is pretty much in the middle of the car, I am sure its completely behind the shock towers.
  10. AIM : zer0zg real name : will
  11. I set mine up for drifting around, but its pretty useless otherwise so if anyone has a good setup i would like to hear it as well.
  12. It's a shame it isn't doing well oin the box office as I loved it and thought it was a great experience.
  13. I think the etype lemans coupes had a significantly different profile than the street cars
  14. Its the kind of thing where, yea he gave me a ticket in the campus, but he could have given me a proper nj ticket as he is a police officer. The towing thing was my fault though.
  15. So I'm a mechanical engineering student at Princeton University, which being in jersey means we have crazy weather. Last thursday, it was a nice day, so I decided I would drive to my 3pm class. when my class ended at 420pm, it was snowing and accumulating on the ground. So I drove straight back to the parking lot. Going to the parking lot there are two roundabouts. On the second one I decide "I'm gonna get a little bit sideways on the exit" It's something I've done many times with no issue on that turn. I am not talking full out oversteer, just a little wiggle at the rear to let me know I'm in an rwd car. So I do my thing, and the car goes WAY sideways because of the snow and I was probably too aggressive, so i try to correct and I overcorrect, sending me over a curb, slowly, into a tree that was near the curb. I wasnt moving fast at all when i gave it gas so I couldn't have hit the tree going more than 5mph, but that was enough to hurt my 240 pretty badly. The brunt of the damage was taken by my hood and bumper, which are completely done. The annoying thing is that I had my radiator held to the support with zip ties (I know) because the bolts rusted in the rad support. This meant that the radiator bounced off the support and cracked my distributor, rendering the car immobile. Also the curb tore off my side exit exhaust which hung far too low anyway. So public safety eventually drives by as I am trying to push the car to the parking lot which is literally 30 feet away, and refuses to let me do so. So guy files a proper accident report, which I suppose is fair enough, but a huge pain with insurance in jersey. He also says that I need to have the car towed, not pushed, which is fair. But apparantly I must use the university's towing instead of AAA, which costs me 95 bux... Damn. He also wrote me up for an in-school careless driving ticket for 20 bux. I know its not much but it was insult to injury. Basically I am kicking myself for driving like a bit of an ass, and now am a poor college student in need of a hood and bumper, haha. I will probably throw in my extra radiator and a new dizzy cap, and drive it home with no hood and open headers... that'll be fun. Anyway thanks for listening to my vent and stay tuned for pictures. -will
  16. I drove mine from florida to jersey when I bought it. Bring some tools, fuses, some oil, a cell phone, get AAA, and go for it.
  17. whoa do you put air in those or is it all rubber. Crazy.
  18. well its made by genki, they made all of the tokyo xtreme racers, so it probably will be pretty similar.
  19. I mounted my fd seats so that the front of the base of the seat was significantly higher than the rear of the base, so its tilted back. The way I have mine mounted the rear of the base is lower than stock.
  20. There was a video on you tube which i can't find currently, of a modified evo doing a top speed run on a runway. It crosses paths with a seagull, and some of the bird makes it through the windshield. Crazy stuff
  21. I have those fd seats in my 240 as well and I love them! I used the 240 rails but swapped the drivers for the passenger side and they worked great, just had to trim the seatbottom a little. here is the somewhat nicer interior of the 280 2+2 I got recently
  22. possibly, but recent gt-r's have always been in the midd 3000's. The r34 was damn near 3700lbs.
  23. The car is going pretty upmarket, so the pricetag seems pretty reasonable to me. If those times are correct, that would make it around as fast as what, vette z06, viper, 911 turbo, f430, gallardo(pushing it). Considering its competition 70k aint too bad. I like the idea of a turbo v6 more than a v8 because hopefully they overbuilt it like they did with the rb series. I know the standard vq isnt the most bulletproof thing in the world, but maybe they made some big changes to the block and internals that will trickle down to the other million models the vq is in. The looks are kinda funky I am not sure I like the whole hidden A and B pillar thing, but I think when this thing is parked out side I will like it. It's different and hopelessly aggressive, like it needs to be to compete with the cars its aiming at. just my .02
  24. It's funny, I had never really thought the primadonna Z's were my style. I had always appreciated the skill and time that went into them but never got it, ya know? After reading this, I really understand the love that went into these cars, and they almost appear different to me. I absolutely love them now, haha. Anyway, good job and nice story.
  25. I have the version of these lights that have the halo (I know ...I know) and the projector lens...pretty much sucks. My lights were dim to begin with due to the old wiring and early style alternator and voltage regulator, but these definately didnt make them better.
