  2. Joe, I was thinking the same thing when I saw that driveway pic. I was very happy to see on the website that the car is jersey based.
  3. I have had 4 in my 240, two in the passenger seat, me in the driver and one in the hatch. We got 7 in my friends z32 2+2, and then went down a mountain road...in the rain...with the t tops off. Ahhh youthful stupidity.
  4. I sucessfully mounted a baby seat in my 2+2, worked fine there in the back.
  5. there is some SERIOUS old school jdm porn in those event albums...ive been drooling for a couple hours now
  6. Still..... thats alot of flex...
  7. That car is pretty much done id say, You have to tweak the chassis pretty bad to crack the windshield by bending the car from the shock towers.

    Thnx admins

Yea, when I first came here (a few years ago now) I didnt understand why you guys were so strict, but I realize now that it is completely necessary. It, and the caliber of people we have here, make this a great little part of the internet. I always brag to people about how cohesive and helpful people from this forum are, and they are always shocked by things like our windtunnel project and everything. --Im rambling but anway, Thanks Guys. I really appreciate it. Will Watts
  9. yea... you could probably build anything to go that fast for a million, but could you get it to do it all day, and be controllable, and last 30 years, and be luxurious enough to satisfy people who are able to spend a million on a car..probably not. VW is a big company, and they weren't messing around...and they're taking a big loss on every one of those things. I dont know that many could do much better.
  10. I'd go for a 2000 sc300 or 400 with a manual. Basically a more comfortable (albiet somewhat heavier) supra. Most of the supra tuning stuff will fit, its a toyota so it will be reliable forever. In my opinion they are one of the better looking cars ever built.
  11. So where are we now, I have a big paycheck coming in the next couple weeks or so, so i could probably throw a bit more at ya. How much would we need for a second day of testing?
  12. So in order to be sure I have everything sealed up I want to replace all of my vacuum hose. I am not near my car and wanted to order some of the bulk stuff from ebay so it would be there when i got home for break, so I was wondering if anyone know what size to order. I did a search and couldnt find anything. Thanks -will
  13. so umm......whats the deal with the primered lambo in the background.
  14. It would also be cool if you could make some intentional small holes in the rear tail light section of the car, and see if any of the modifications keep the smoke from being sucked into the car, or trying to find ones that do.
  15. .... and also if someone had an afm boot they wanted to send me, haha.
  16. Ok so upon closer inspection of the afm boot I noticed that where the thick vaccuum hose connects the the boot, its just a hole poked in the boot with silicone sealant around it. When I stretch it and say allow more air to enter, the engine dies down which seems somewhat counter intuitive but whatever. So I guess I need a new afm boot. I was wondering if that elbow that connects to the boot is stock, or what. Thanks
  17. ok so ive been through the car and I found one broken vaccuum line that went to a canister which was on the sparkplug side of the engine bay. I quick fixed that, and it doesnt seem to have done anything. can someone post a pic of the air bypass valve and the ac fast idle valve and what position they are supposed to be in so I know what to look for. Nothing seems to happen if I unscrew the oil cap or remove the dipstick
  18. I'm in for all my broke-college-student ass can afford, but I am really glad you guys are doin this. This proves that we are one of, if not the, most technical and scientific street car organizations. I can think of no other group of people who would undertake this project for a street car. As always, this makes me proud to be a HybridZ member. -will
  19. Hey, if anyone reading this is in the NJ-NY-PA area and knows of a good pick and pull, please let me know. I am dying for one out here.
  20. So I was thinking about my failed turbo swap the summer before last, and I realized that I got a bit in over my head with too little time to do things right. Because the car was my daily driver, I couldnt have it apart too long. I was wondering what was involved in building a test stand so I could do all of the baseline megasquirt settings and tuning outside of the car, and swap it in running. I figured I would need a radiator and run an alternator through a voltage reg to a battery and to the starter, a small fuel tank and pump with the fpr. Other than that, what would I need on a stand, and does anyone have plans to build one. Thanks. -will
  21. bubble, no one here, I don't think, is here to get in a pissing match. We're here to discuss different throttle body and fuel injection setups, not whether each of think someone else's car is unimpressive. The people here are trying to learn and make progress on their cars, and while it may be your opinion that someone's car is not great or whatever, it adds nothing to the thread to state that in a pretty rude manner. People who add useful and interesting information to a thread shouldn't feel like they're going to have to defend their work. It kills the tone of the forum, and makes people less willing to share and that hurts us all, because I am on here( as you are I would hope) to learn. I am not attacking you, just letting you know that saying negative things about peoples' cars, especially those who are trying to contribute positively to a discussion, can hurt the forum in general as well as the person whom the comment is directed to.
  22. So I just bought a 77 2+2 after having owned a 72 for a few years and the car seems to have some small fuel injection issues and I wanted to see where you guys thought I should start tracking down the problems. First, though probably not fuel injection related. The car apparantly runs hot. The gauge reads probably a little more than 3/4 of the way to the hot end, but its a solid reading. Driving slow in traffic, fast on the highway, A/C on or off the gauge doesn't move once it reaches that point. I am thinking its probably the thermostat or the gauge. so I am going to do stat first and hope for the best. Second, the car idles high. When I first picked up the car the throttle was sticky so I chalked up the fast Idle to that. but after I wd40'd the linkage, the stickiness went away but the idle still generally hovers around the 1300-1500 range. I have seen it idle around 1000 once or twice, but generally once it has warmed up it stays higher. Now my first thought was to simply adjust the throttle stop, but I figured that there might be some fast idle valve or something that I should check first, and I wondered if it might be related to the high temps I have been getting. Third, I figured I'd ask what emissions related stuff I could/should remove from the engine to free up power or generally simplify things. The car will have historic plates so emissions inspection is not an issue. The car is a 77. This is the best pic of the engine I have right now. If someone could point out what is necessary and what isn't that would be great. Thanks alot. -will

    My new 2+2

hmm im not sure. I am on a pretty tight budget right now, and i dont want to not run any bumper because i think it looks too unfinished for this car. So i am thinking of getting something with an integrated bumper or something that looks like one just to save me the money of buying a smaller bumper.
